Natural Hero Hot Ginger Muscle Rub (100ml, £9.99) & Natural Hero Cool Peppermint Muscle Spritz (100ml, link)*

As some of you may know, I'm currently taking part in a serious of fun runs at work to raise funds for the charity MIND.  MIND help people who are having difficulties with their mental health, so the runs are designed to inspire people to get outside and be more active with the 'healthy body, healthy mind' concept.  I was kindly sent these two products by Natural Hero to try out which have been a welcome addition to my sports bag.

Natural Hero's Hot Ginger Muscle Rub is a 98% natural lotion which helps to soothe muscle fatigue and support sports recovery.  It has a blend of Ginger Root, Rosemary and Sweet Fennel essential oils which provide a lovely warming feeling on the skin (for around 2-3 minutes) and works deep down to offer relief to tired muscles.  The formula is non-greasy and soaks in fairly quickly.  There is a distinctive scent of ginger as you can probably imagine, but after using it a couple of times, I seem to notice it less and less.  To use, just apply a pea-sized amount after your workout, and you can also use it pre-workout to help warm up your muscles.  The heat subtly 're-activates' when you exercise, so its ideal to use on a cold day.

The Cool Peppermint Muscle Spritz is a 99% natural spray which gives you an instant cooling effect, but then you feel a brief warmness afterwards.  It contains Peppermint Oil, Arnica, Blue Chamomile, White Willow and Witch Hazel which work their magic to ease stiff muscles.  Like the rub, you can use this pre-workout and afterwards when needed.

Summary: I've found both of these useful whilst doing my runs and would recommend trying them out if you're doing any exercise/sports this Winter.  Plus both products are free from parabens, SLS, petrochemicals and not tested on animals - hooray!

Do you use products like these when you do exercise?

  2. I've been using Badger Balm's muscle rub for after work, and I'm not sure I like it. After awhile, it starts to warm and tingle, but at first it just feels downright itchy. I have to keep using it to see how it goes, but I like the sound of this better!

    1. I've tried the Badger Balm Muscle Rub and had similar problems - it just seemed like I need to keep putting lots of it on for it to do anything and then it would start to irritate my skin :(
This one definitely works better for me!

  3. The peppermint spritz sounds lovely! I've recently taken up horse riding again (after doing it when I was younger) and after my first lesson my legs were aching so much and I was walking like an old lady for days! So this sounds perfect for me :)

    1. It's really good for aching legs, I love how you get a refreshing cooling feeling but then it warms up a little afterwards so you're not left outside with freezing cold legs! So jealous that you're doing horse riding, I used to do it when I was younger and loved it :) x
