GUEST POST: Alice's Winter Make-Up Favourites

Wednesday, 5 December 2012

Hello lovely readers of We Were Raised By Wolves.  I’m Alice from the blog Bright Town Girl.  I write about all things beauty.  When I saw Evelyn was looking for guest bloggers I jumped at the chance as I have loved her blog for ages and she always writes about products I love too.  So thank you Evelyn for letting me be a guest in your little space on the web.

I thought I would share with you all my winter make up favourites, my makeup doesn’t change too much from each season but there is a few things that I tend to reach for more in the cooler months.

I am a blush junkie and often change what I am wearing from day to day.  This time of year I usually go for more pink/natural blushes and there are three that I have been loving.

Cover Girl Blush in True Plum is a pink colour with a slight plum undertone. It reminds me a little of Mac’s blush in Dame. It is quite sheer colour but it gives you that slight in from the cold look.

Another similar colour is the blush Cargo in Tonga. This isn’t as plum toned as the Cover Girl blush and is more pigmented.

The last blush is Tarte Exposed which is a well known blush on the blog scene.  It is a very natural looking blush with a slight pink/brown tone to it.  This has to be one of my all time favourites as it really sculpts the cheek bones.

When it comes to the eyes I tend to go for more of natural smokey look rather than just a sweep of one colour that I tend to go for in the summer.  One of my favourite palettes for this is the Estee Lauder Signature Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Opulence.  This is full of warm brown colours which creates the most gorgeous warm smokey eye. I then tend to finish it off with a bit of liner on the lower lash line.  A new favourite of mine for this is Mac Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Raven which is black with red flecks in it.

Finally onto the lips which like my cheeks I go for more pinky/plum colours.  Firstly though every morning and night I slather on the Blistex Relief Cream as I get such sore dry lips and this is the only thing that helps.  Once that has sunk in I pop on some lipstick two of my favourites are from Mac. Viva Glam V and Hot Gossip.  Both are a pink/plum colour with Hot Gossip being more on the purple side. Viva Glam V is a lustre so is quite sheer and has slight flecks of shimmer.

If I am feeling braver I will reach for a more vampy colour like the MUA lipstick in shade 1.  It is a deep red/pink colour which is very bright but perfect for the dark lip trend that is around at the moment.

I would love to know what products you go for in the winter months?
