Review: The London Oil Company - Morning Glory, Sleepy Head, Coffee Bum Bum & Sweet Cheeks

Tuesday, 26 February 2013

It's always a thrill when something new and exciting arrives in the post, and I was over the moon to open up this lovely package from The London Oil Company*, a new independent brand based in London's famous Primrose Hill area.  All of the oils are made in small batches, freshly prepared to order and contain just the oil blends with absolutely no chemical nasties or preservatives added.

Vivien, the founder, contacted me in advance to ask if I'd like to try out any of her new products and very kindly sent me this box featuring four of her all natural oils to experiment with.  Upon opening the box, I was hit with a wonderful array of scents, so it's safe to say that I couldn't wait to try them all out!

Morning Glory Body Oil (10ml, 50ml & 100ml sizes, £3-£12, link)
Morning Glory is one of those products that you just have to use after your morning shower if you struggle to wake up first thing.  It has a base blend of Sweet Almond Oil, Cherry Kernel Oil, Unrefined Organic Avocado Oil with added Rosemary, Lemongrass and Coffee essential oils for an uplifting and invigorating scent.  I absolutely love the smell of this and end up sniffing my arms throughout the day because it's so good!  As a body oil, it's incredibly hydrating, but doesn't feel too greasy afterwards.  I found that as long as you applied it on slightly damp skin, it soaks in much quicker.

Sleepy Head Body Oil (10ml, 50ml, 100ml sizes, £3-£10, link)
For those before bed baths and showers, The London Oil Company has Sleepy Head, a potent blend of Lavender and Patchouli essentials oils in a Sweet Almond Oil base to send you off to sleep.  This is so relaxing to use and one I'd recommend to anyone who has trouble getting to sleep.  They also do a bath oil version which sounds even more relaxing

Coffee Bum Bum Body Oil (10ml, 50ml, 100ml sizes, £3-£16, link)
This cheekily named body oil is specially designed to improve the appearance of cellulite, whilst smoothing and firming the area too.  To do this, it uses Coffee and Patchouli essential oils to help eliminate toxins, and it's best to apply this to damp skin in circular movements for the best results.  I can't comment on the cellulite abilities just yet, but I can say it leaves my bum and thighs feeling very smooth!

Sweet Cheeks Face Oil (10ml, 30ml, 60ml sizes, £4-£22, link)
I love to use face oils during the winter months, and Sweet Cheeks really comes into its own when used on those early cold mornings.  This one is packed with a nourishing blend of mostly organic oils such as Unrefined Avocado, Rosehip and Sea Buckthorn, the latter of which gives the face a warm, sunkissed glow which is great for perking up dull complexions.  You only need to use one or two drops so a bottle of this will last absolutely ages, and it sinks into the skin quickly too.

I have a feeling I'll be putting in an order when the spending ban is over!

Summary:  I really enjoyed trying out of all these oils and if I had to pick just one favourite, I'd say it's Morning Glory for that gorgeous scent alone!  I think it's great all of the oils come in handy 10ml try me sample sizes as well.  My only slight criticism would be that I would have liked the oils to come with a dropper/stopper applicator (Coffee Bum Bum has one but the others don't) as it can be difficult dispensing them, but other than that, it's been a pleasure sampling them!

Have you tried anything from The London Oil Company?
