Spending Ban Update #8

Monday, 4 March 2013

 So Week 8...

I succumbed to the lure of the magazine freebies.  I can never resist them, so I knew I would be breaking the ban this week.  What I didn't know was that I was going to pick up some extra things as well.  I blame payday of course and not my inability to say no to a good deal!

Here's what I bought at the weekend:-

The Non Ban-Breaking Essentials
(I had completely run out of these, so I was permitted to buy them)
 - 2 x The Body Shop Organic Cotton Wool Rounds - £3 (on offer, 2 for £3)
-  2 x Dr Organic Pomegranate Deodorant - £7.78 (on offer in Holland and Barrett, buy one, get one half price)
-  Wilkinson Sword Razor Refills - £2.99 (from Home Bargains)
Total: £13.77

The Ban-Breaking Stuff
- 2 x Marie Claire magazines with Neal's Yard Remedies Hand Creams - £3.80 each
- Glamour magazine with Percy Reed Volumising Oil - £2
- UNE Lip Toned Lip Colour in L05 - £5 (on offer in Superdrug)
- 2 x Ecotools Travel Brush Sets - £5.99 each (found in TK Maxx)
 Total: £26.58

I don't think it's too bad on the whole, as all the non-essential stuff was technically on offer/reduced sale prices (or that's how I'm justifying it anyway!).  I probably didn't need to pick up an extra NYR hand cream freebie, but you know, my stash was calling for a backup of it!  I'm so happy with the UNE lippy (review on that soon), and I decided to pick up two of the Ecotools brush sets so that I have one for a mini giveaway which I'll put up tomorrow.  See, everyone's a winner :)

I'm going to get back on track for the rest of the ban and finish it off properly.  After my mini splurge, it's the least I can do!

  8. I have a couple Eco tools brushes. They are so soft. I really was surprised of how much I liked them because I didn't expect that amount of quality in something that was so inexpensive.

  12. Hi Evelyn, another great spending update! I have been wondering, how do you manage to write and photograph so many high quality posts so frequently? I see you are also getting a masters in Environmental Science, are you just the world's best time manager? I really admire your work ethic!

    1. Hi Mary, I schedule 90% of my blog posts in advance and usually just write the posts & take photos when I have a spare hour or two! I'm not doing a masters yet, just a degree which is part-time so it fits in with my job :)
