New Brand: Yours Truly Organics Skincare Review

Thursday, 29 May 2014

Launched earlier this year at The Natural Products Show Olympia, Yours Truly Organics is one of the latest brands to hit the green beauty market.

Founded and created by Kelita Bignall, Yours Truly Organics specialises in skincare products for those who have oily and acne problems, both of which Kelita herself has suffered with.  As my own skin is oily/combination and prone to breakouts and blemishes, she kindly sent me her range to try out.  Currently, there are four products available; Face Base Face Balm, Take It Away! Gel Cleanser, Fix Me! Repairing Serum and Balancing Toner.

Yours Truly Organics Face Base Face Balm* (100ml, £25, link)
This a thick cream rather than a traditional balm, and has a nice silky texture to it.  It features ingredients such as Pea Extract to improve elasticity and regulate sebum, whilst Daisy Flower Extract helps to brighten up the complexion.  You can use it as an everyday moisturiser and it also doubles up as a natural primer/base for applying makeup over.  Sadly, I found this a little too heavy and rich for my skin, and it felt somewhat sticky at times so it wasn't for me.

Yours Truly Organics Take It Away! Cleanser* (150ml, £22, link)
Enriched with Vitamin C and Sandalwood Oil, Take It Away! Cleanser promises to remove impurities whilst leaving the skin clean and soft.  It comes with a handy pump applicator (which I always appreciate with cleansers!) and has a lovely scent to it.  After the first use, I was instantly happy with the results - it thoroughly cleansed my skin and didn't feel tight or dry.  After using it every morning for a week though, my skin started to feel very dry and became quickly irritated so I think this is just too stripping for my skin to handle.
Yours Truly Fix Me! Repairing Serum* (30ml, £28, link)
I'm an absolute serum junkie, so I was especially looking forward to trying this out.  It's an Oat Kernel enriched serum and has Sesame Seed Extract and Saw Palmetto to reduce blemishes and inflammation.  A little difficult to use at first as it can be sticky, but once you find the right amount to apply, this serum is really good.  It hydrates and nourishes the skin amazingly well, but I haven't found it to be that effective for blemishes just yet.

Yours Truly Organics Balancing Toner* (150ml, £19, link)
My favourite out of the range is definitely this Balancing Toner that has Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera in the formula.  It has a really refreshing and uplifting feel which makes it perfect for the (hopefully hot!) summer months coming up, and it also soothes away any redness or irritation that you may have.

Summary: Overall, I have to admit it and say that I was disappointed with some of these products, but I do really rate the Balancing Toner and would still recommend the Fix Me! Repairing Serum when you use the right amount of it.  I also must mention the packaging - for a higher end range with the prices listed above, the packaging feels very cheap.  Whilst I do understand that there are likely to be many limitations when a brand is just starting out and finding its feet, I feel like the packaging really lets the range down.  There are a couple of things that could be done to remedy this, for example printing at a higher resolution would stop some of the text and logos looking blurred and instantly make the line look more chic and stylish for the discerning buyer.

Yours Truly Organics are available to purchase direct from their website here.  The whole range is certified by EcoCert, BUAV and the Vegetarian Society.  A sample kit of all the products reviewed above is available for just £5 here

  1. Thanks for this review. I recently won these products in a giveaway with Naturia & hadnt heard anything about them until now. I have oily combo skin so it will be interesting if I get the same results!

    1. Yeah I would strongly recommend the sample kit before splurging on these as they are expensive, I did like the toner and serum x

    1. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews too, I think £5 for the sample kit is a good deal though if you're unsure. The toner & serum are really good x

  4. I wrote up my review of this range at the weekend ready for posting in the next week. Our skin type must be similar as I experienced a lot of the same things - like the gel cleanser was definitely too much for my skin. I agree that the serum and toner are the better products xx
