Xmas Gift Idea / Stocking Filler: Tangle Teezer Compact Styler in Pink / Black review

Monday, 4 November 2013

I've mentioned my love for the Original Tangle Teezer a couple of times; that cult plastic hairbrush that makes combing thick or long hair a breeze.  I popped into TK Maxx yesterday to have a browse, and came out with this unexpected purchase - the Tangle Teezer Compact Styler, for only £5!  It's the perfect travel / handbag companion.

As I found this on offer in TK Maxx they only had one colour option available which was Pink/Black (luckily this was OK with me and the one I would have probably chosen anyway!), but it also comes in Gold/Black, Plain Black and Print variants.  The Compact Styler is slightly larger than what you'd expect from a usual compact brush (comparison below with the Original version), but it's still a good size for your handbag without taking up too much space.  To be honest, I've always found more traditional handbag sized hairbrushes to be too small with not enough teeth for my thick hair so I certainly don't mind this being bigger as it definitely does a better job!

The design is simple and practical; it fits together snugly and securely with the teeth being protected at the bottom.  Take off the top lid part and there's your brush.  The plastic casing is hard and durable, and the plastic teeth work like magic to detangle long and / or thick hair without dragging or snagging.  Being plastic also means it's easy to wash and you can use it in the shower as well.

The Tangle Teezer Compact Styler usually retails at around £10ish,  so this would make an ideal budget xmas gift or a generous stocking filler for anyone you know who travels a lot or simply would appreciate this handy piece of kit.

Do you use a Tangle Teezer?

  2. I recently got the original and I'm loving it! The downside of it is that I'm not the only one who use that bathroom and they keep on moving it and the teeth are starting to bend *annoying*. This could be a good idea, too bad here it probably will cost much more...but thanks for the review, bow I know it's a good item to keep my eyes on :D (I thought the bottom was less solid and was worried about that, but it doesn't seem a problem)

    1. Oh that's annoying for you! I think that's the advantage of the compact in that you've got that bottom piece to protect the teeth from getting warped x

    2. Yeah, I knew it was a problem that could happen after a year of using it, but for me it's a month, but people in my house doesn't seems very gentle with what I put in the bathroom so I'm sure it's that. They should put something to protect the teeth even on the original one!
