July Empties / Products I've Used Up

Tuesday 30 July 2013

Empties time!  You all know the drill by now; here are the products I've finished off this month, my thoughts on them, and whether I'll be repurchasing them in the future.

Review & Swatches: Lavera Glossy Lips Lip Gloss in Almond Kiss

Monday 29 July 2013

Lavera Glossy Lips Lip Gloss in Almond Kiss* (6.5ml, £9.50)

When it comes to wearing make-up in the summer months, I always think less is more.  Most days, I'll just go with a light base, mascara, a little bronzer and a swipe of lip gloss.  Low maintenance at its best!  At the moment, I've been reaching for this Lavera Lip Gloss for that simple, fuss-free summer look.

5 Mini Reviews: Balance Me, John Masters Organics, Eve Taylor, Korres & Green People

Sunday 28 July 2013

I think it's time that I did another one of these posts isn't it?  Here are my thoughts on five samples that I've used up recently.

My Work / Office / Desk Beauty Essentials

Friday 26 July 2013

I've seen a lot of posts popping up on my feed recently showcasing the products that women keep with them at their work spaces.  Be it on a desk of your own, inside a drawer or locker etc, there are usually a couple of beauty essentials that we rely on to get us through the working day; here are mine.

DIY Natural Beauty: Top 10 Ways to Use Coconut Oil

Sunday 21 July 2013

Viridian 100% Organic Raw Coconut Oil* (500g, £14, link)

Coconut Oil is incredible stuff.  I've been using it for beauty purposes for around two years now and always have a tub of it in my bathroom.  Not only does it smell delicious (obviously!), but it can be used in a variety of ways, making it one of the most useful products to have in any beauty junkie's stash.

Review: Beauteco Box - July 2013

Tuesday 16 July 2013

Beauteco Box* (£10 + P&P, link)

For those new to Beauteco, they are a beauty box with a difference.  Each month, three 'menus' are presented on their website, and you, the customer, get to choose which one you'd like to receive.  After a fantastic box last month, I was most looking forward to seeing what the menu options would be for July's Beauteco Box.

The Body Shop Mini Sales Haul

Monday 15 July 2013

I was going through some photos earlier today, and had completely forgotten to transfer these from about two weeks ago.  Better late than never though?  Anyway, these are a few bits that I picked up recently in The Body Shop's summer sale.

Summer Legs Combo with Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow! Hair Minisming Moisturiser & Tantastic Natural Self- Tan

Sunday 14 July 2013

I'm not the most confident when it comes to baring a lot of flesh in summer, and prefer wearing things like maxi dresses to Daisy Duke style shorts.  However, I did pick up some shorter length skirts in the sales, which led me into trying out these two products.  Combined, they are the winning formula for prepping your legs for summer.

A Belated Birthday Haul

Thursday 11 July 2013

It was my birthday a few weeks ago, so this is a rather belated mini haul as the title suggests.  I've kept it strictly beauty related because I think that's what you'd all like to see the most.  As I was lucky enough to receive some gift vouchers this year, the majority of what you'll see in this post has been chosen by myself.

Hayfever Saviour: Organic Surge Eye Gel

Wednesday 10 July 2013

Organic Surge Eye Gel* (15ml, £8.49)

Last year, I wrote a post about my favourite beauty products for surviving hayfever with, and I still stand firmly by them.  However, I have come across a new one recently that needs to be added to that 'Hayfever Saviour' list.  If your eyes are currently feeling irritated and puffy due to the high pollen counts, then do read on.

NOTD: Nails Inc - Portobello

Tuesday 9 July 2013

Britain is currently basking in a heatwave with the temperature expected to go up to 30C this weekend - I can hardly wait.  To celebrate summer finally being here, I painted my nails in this bright coral from Nails Inc called Portobello.  Apparently this is one of their bestselling shades and I can certainly see why!  Application is a little streaky at first, but three coats finally delivers an opaque coverage.  As with most neons, it dries to a semi-matte finish, so if you want it glossy like mine, you'll need to add a good top coat like Seche Vite.

What are you wearing on your nails today?

July Magazine Freebie: Glamour & Balance Me

Monday 8 July 2013

The new round of magazine freebies hit the stands recently, and I restrained myself big time by just picking up two copies of Glamour for the Balance Me goodies.  I opted for the Super Toning Body Wash and the Limited Edition Shine On Tinted Lip Salve in Sheer Raspberry, and you can also get samples of face wash and moisturiser.  Not bad for £4!  There are so many more bargains to be had with REN, Nip & Fab, Rituals and Eyeko products being given away with some of the others.  I may have to go back and take a closer look at some point...!

Have you picked up any magazine freebies this month?

The Weekend Post: Bon Jovi, Kaiser Chiefs and Bush in Hyde Park #BST

Sunday 7 July 2013

On Friday, I headed down to London for one of the Barclaycard British Summer Time Concerts in Hyde Park.  The headline act was Bon Jovi, supported by Bush and the Kaiser Chiefs.  And the weather was glorious.  Bring on the Pimms!

Review: Macadamia Natural Oil Control Fast-Drying Working Spray

Saturday 6 July 2013

Macadamia Natural Oil Control Fast-Drying Working Spray* (300ml, £14.83, link)

I've been a long time fan of both the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment and their Deep Repair Masque (raved about here), but haven't ventured into trying any other products from them until this hairspray arrived in the post.  Technically this is called a 'Control Fast-Drying Working Spray', but between me and you, we'll just call it hairspray.

The Pampering Treat: Neom Organic Body Oil in Real Luxury

Thursday 4 July 2013

Neom Organic Body Oil in Real Luxury* (100ml, £30)

I seem to be obsessed with body oils at the moment.  Maybe it's due to the warmer weather, but I'm picking out oils over body butters and lotions a lot more these days.  I have some budget friendly ones which I use most days (I'm looking at you Dresdner Essenz!), but for a truly luxurious, pampering treat, I'll reach for my beloved Neom.

Tried & Tested: Viridian Summer Skincare Essentials - Ultimate Beauty Skin Repair Oil & S.P.F Skin Pro-Factors Supplements

About a month ago, you may remember that I reviewed Viridian's Ultimate Beauty Complex and the matching Beauty Oil which are both supplements that I was impressed with.  They've kindly sent me two more products to try out which I've been trialling for the past couple of weeks.

June Favourites

Wednesday 3 July 2013

These are my June beauty favourites; a specially selected handful which I've been in love with recently.  A good mix I think!

Review: Primavera Organic Juniper Berry & Cypress Body Scrub + Tips to Maintain Your Summer Tan

Primavera Organic Juniper Berry & Cypress Body Scrub* (200ml, £20, link)

Mornings are usually a bleary eyed, stumbling-around-like-a-new-born-lamb experience for me, so I rely on a couple of things to help me wake up.  Loud upbeat music (cheesy 90s dance classics are always a winner!), a cup or two of green tea, and fresh scented products in the bathroom generally do the trick.  This body scrub from Primavera has been a welcome addition to my waking-up routine.

New Handbag Staple: Jurlique Essence Of Rose Roll On Fragrance Oil

Tuesday 2 July 2013

Jurlique Essence Of Rose Roll On Fragrance Oil* (11ml, £16.50)

This may come as a surprise, but I rarely wear perfume.  Main reason?  Headaches.  I'm one of those people who seems to be predisposed to getting headaches whenever I'm near particular substances, and perfume always manages to set them off.  When I discussed this with my friend Louise, she recommended that I try out a more natural perfume instead, as it may the use of certain chemicals found in mainstream ones which could be to blame.  I took her advice, and have finally found one that I can happily wear, without the threat of a migraine coming on.  Say hello to my new handbag staple from Jurlique!
