Beauty News: Laura Mercier launches Ovarian Cancer Fund in the UK (LMOCF)

Saturday 15 March 2014

As March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to share the exciting news of Laura Mercier's new charity promotion, LMOCF.

First founded in the US in 2012, Laura Mericer are launching their Ovarian Cancer Fund (LMOCF) in the UK this March.  This is a cause which is really close to Laura Mercier’s heart, with 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the three products below, going to the fund.  In addition, many of Laura Mercier’s partners including her suppliers, all of the department stores carrying the collection, as well as the companies that create the packing have all made very generous contributions and in many cases, have waived their fees/profits entirely.

Did you know?
•          In the UK, ovarian cancer accounts for more deaths than all other gynaecological cancers
•          Ovarian cancer is the second most common gynaecological cancer and the fifth most common cancer affecting women in the UK
•          In 2010, there were 4,295 deaths from ovarian cancer
•          The UK has the 7th highest incidence of ovarian cancer in the world

The three LMOCF products launched this March in support of the cause are:
·   Bonne Mine Healthy Glow for Face & Cheeks Crème Colour Palette – £37.00 (Available year-round with 100% of funds continually going into the fund)
·     Kiss of Hope Lip Glacé – £19.00, Limited Edition
·     Matte Radiance Healthy Glow Baked Powder & Mini Face Brush – £24.00, Limited Edition

For the entire month of March, all Laura Mercier counters have turned teal to help bring awareness to this cause.

LMOCF has partnered with Ovarian Cancer Action, who set up the UK’s first and only dedicated ovarian cancer research centre in London, which focuses on improving the outlook for women with ovarian cancer. LMOCF is sponsoring research that studies the high relapse rate of the disease.  Furthermore, we are working closely with Dr. Sarah Blagden,an oncology consultant specialising in ovarian cancer at Hammersmith Hospital.
