When I first started to get into make-up, it was almost impossible to find good organic beauty brands. Fast forward to now, and the organic make-up world has blossomed significantly as customers have demanded cleaner ingredients in their products. One such brand that I absolutely adore is Ilia, whose lip products are quite simply incredible.
I've been meaning to get a review up of the beautiful Ilia lipstick that I purchased at Content Beauty & Wellbeing on the Field Trip Tour, so I knew that I had to finally post about it for Organic Beauty Week! So what's all the fuss about Ilia?
Firstly, there's the packaging. If Ilia were a car brand, they would be the equivalent of Bentley or Rolls Royce. Their packaging is so simple, but undeniably chic and high end. Their lipsticks have a satisfying 'weight' to them, and the metallic casing is so smooth that you find yourself stroking it without even realising.
Secondly, Ilia have a great shade range. A lot of organic beauty brands suffer from everything feeling very 'neutral', but Ilia have brights and darks that can compete with the likes of NARS and MAC. They even release beautifully on-trend shades such as their current Limited Edition lipstick and lipgloss that celebrate the Radiant Orchid hype. Yes, there's a tiny 0.1-0.3% synthetic colour used in some of their products but compared to the mainstream that really is a minuscule amount.
But lastly, their 85% organic formulas are simply bang-on. Above is a swatch of the shade 'In My Room' which is a gorgeous, everyday, easy to wear medium pink. There's zero shimmer and just pure pigmentation that feels mostly matte but doesn't ever dry out my lips. What's most interesting though, is that this lipstick stays put for a lot longer than I thought it would and maintains its colour for around 3-4 hours (without eating/drinking). Wow. In a nutshell, I'm utterly smitten!
Ilia Lipstick in In My Room (4g, £22) and the rest of the range is available from Content Beauty & Wellbeing.
