MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Shy Girl

Thursday 14 June 2012

I randomly ended up at a MAC counter today (as you do!) and bought a Cremesheen Lipstick in Shy Girl.  I have been having a brief love affair with nude lips at the moment, and this was just perfect for the look I was after.  Buying nude lipsticks can be quite daunting because I've tried so many in the past which have just completely washed me out and made me look like a member of the undead.  Not a good look!  But Shy Girl seems to be just the right tone of nude for me and because it's quite neutral to start with, I can see it also suiting a range of skintones.

The formula is a bit 'meh' though.  Although it's a cremesheen, it's definitely one of the more drying lipsticks that I have tried in the cremesheen family.  It's not terribly drying or anything like that, but it will cling to any dry parts on your lips, and I found that I had to use a lot of lip balm underneath to get an even and smooth application.  Despite this, I really do love this lipstick and I'm more than happy with the final look it gives.

What are your favourite nude lipsticks?

    1. I had the same problem and it was one of the reasons I never bothered with the nude lips look for ages, just couldn't find one that was right for me. Would definitely give Shy Girl a go! x

    1. I love the colour of Creme Cup but I'm not always sure that it suits me when I wear it :( Shy Girl is a lot more neutral than Creme Cup so I think it works better for me :) xx

    1. Yeah I do wish it was more hydrating on the lips, though it seems to be fine if you use LOTS of lip balm underneath xx

  12. Such a pretty shade on you - it really does look like the perfect nude :) I can see what you mean that the formula isn't 100% moisturising and kind to dry lips, but it doesn't seem too drying and at least the colour is beautiful and extremely wearable and flattering for a nude.

    1. Thanks :) Yeah, I can live with the slightly drying effect (which isn't too bad really as long as you have lots of lip balm on underneath!), for the colour payoff :)
