Review: Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Blemish & Shine Control

Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Blemish & Shine Control (30ml, £29, link)*

Today's post is something of a rave review, so you'll have to forgive me if I start jumping up and down with excitement whilst I'm describing this wonder product to you.

Murad, the high-tech, high-end skincare brand, recently launched a set of new products called 'Hybrids'.  This new range aims to disguise skin flaws, smooth skin texture and improve the appearance of skin in the long term.  As the name hybrid suggests, it's basically make-up combined with the benefits of skincare.

I was kindly sent their new Skin Perfecting Primer - Blemish & Shine Control which comes packaged in a sleek black tube and features an easy pump dispenser.  This primer is quite literally the bomb.  It is everything I have been looking for in a primer, all packaged in one container.

Here are 4 reasons why I love it:-

(1) It controls oil and shine.
I have oily/combination skin and find that most primers which are marketed towards us oily people, are great at reducing shine for an hour or so and then disaster hits.   They have a tendency to strip too much of the oil away (every skin needs some natural oil to keep it happy) in their bid to remove shine, and in doing so, force the skin to produce MORE oil over the course of the day to replace the oil that has been stripped away.  It's a horrible catch 22 situation.
Murad SPP B&SC doesn't do this.  Instead, it just leaves the skin matte free all day without going into that pesky catch 22 situation.  AMAZING.

(2) It doesn't clog pores and helps fight blemishes.
As much as I love the pore-shrinking effects of Benefit's The POREfessional, it does start to break me out if I use it too often because it clogs my pores straight away.  Murad SPP B&SC doesn't.  It has Salicylic Acid in it to prevent breakouts and a non-comodogenic formula which doesn't clog pores.  I've been using this primer for around 3 weeks now and haven't had any issues so far.

(3) It makes my make-up stay put all day.
One of the main reasons we use primers is to prolong the look of our make-up, but so many simply don't do this.  Murad SPP B&SC does.  My make-up stays put all day with this underneath it.

(4) It is tinted and suits my skintone perfectly.
The lightweight formula of this primer is pretty much identical to that of an excellent BB cream (but one which has all the benefits of a primer as listed above!).  It is tinted and matches my skintone perfectly, as well as covering up any blemishes and redness.  When I use this, I don't need to use a separate concealer other than one for my undereyes.

I am totally blown away by how great this primer is!  It is high-end so it does come with a high-end price tag, but if you are looking for a new primer and want one that does all of the above, then I'd highly recommend checking it out.  The Murad Hybrids range has primers to suit all skintypes and I believe the tinted formula is universal, so it adapts to all skintones too.

Have you tried any of the Murad Hybrids?
What do you look for in a good primer?

    1. I know, the price is a bit steep, but then again you do only need to use a small amount each time so I guess it's not TOO bad in the long run. And you certainly get what you pay for! xx
