Skincare Review: Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 Cleanser, Scrub and Mask & Hyaluspot Treatment

Saturday 22 February 2014

I've been in essay writing hell this week for Uni, and whenever I'm stressed out, it seems to show up immediately on my face in the form of angry looking blemishes (joy!).  To combat this, I've been reaching for these two products from Vichy's Normaderm range for some help.

Vichy have a series of different skincare ranges, and their Normaderm line is tailored towards those who have oily and acne/blemish prone skin.  Put frankly, if your skin is playing up and breaking out, then this is the range for you.  Given my current stress-induced situation, I decided to put two of its star products through their paces and see if they lived up to the blogger hype.

Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 Cleanser, Scrub and Mask* (125ml, £11.50, link)
Given my penchant for multi-purpose products, I had high hopes for this 3 in 1 job and I'm happy to say that it didn't let me down.  You can use it as a daily cleanser and exfoliator (it's creamy and has small scrubby bits), or you can use it as a mattifying/detoxifying mask where you just leave it on for 5 minutes and then wash it off.  I found that it worked really well on my congested skin as it properly declogged my pores and drew out a hell of a lot of impurities from the first use.  Primarily for oily skin, I was a little worried that this would be too stripping for my combination skintype or too drying as it's 25% clay based, but I didn't have any trouble with it, though I would say I prefer it more a once a week face mask than a daily cleanser because it is very detoxifying!  The results from using this as a face mask left my skin looking much clearer and brighter so this gets a definite thumbs up.

Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot Anti-Imperfection Treatment* (15ml, £11, link)
An on the spot treatment gel which uses 1.5% salicylic acid, 0.5% LHA and 1% hyaluronic acid to reduce and soothe blemishes, sounds great doesn't it?  Well it is and it isn't.  The positive points are that it's easy to apply and use.  The gel dries as a clear film over the blemish and although it looks shiny, it isn't sticky at all so you can apply makeup over the top and you're good to go.  When I used it on a couple of particularly angry looking blemishes, I found that it really helped to reduce the size of them overnight and got rid of any redness around the area.  The downside I experienced was that it didn't clear up the blemishes as fast as I hoped it would - it's definitely more of a gentler, gradual process over 5-7 days, rather than the 'fast-acting' claim that's on the box.  So it works, but perhaps not as quickly as most people would want it to.

  4. Oh wow that imperfection treatment sounds incredible, and definitely something I need. I suffer from the odd breakout, but the scarring lasts for such a long time afterwards so this would be ideal! Xx
