Today I have a very special review to kick off this year's staggered series of Christmas Gift Ideas that I'll be interspersing between my usual blog posts from now until mid- December.  I've been using this beautiful vanity mirror from simplehuman for almost two months and I've been dying to blog about it!

simplehuman are well known for their stylish, modern and practical products for the home, and they have an expert range of stainless steel goods including premium kitchen and bathroom accessories. They currently have three Sensor Mirrors available and I was kindly sent one to try out.

Standing 38cm high and with a generous 20cm diameter wide mirror, simplehuman's Magnifying Sensor Mirror is crafted from premium stainless steel and looks effortlessly chic on your vanity or wherever you choose to display it.  It's weighty, sturdy, and fully adjustable for maximum visibility and comfort.

As you can see in the first photo, this mirror features an LED ring which mimics natural sunlight so that you can apply your make-up in the best possible light, even in a dark room or on a gloomy, rainy day.  The 'tru-lux light system' disperses the light around the ring evenly so that you don't have any light loss or hot spots thanks to the cleverly placed micro reflectors.  The LED light works on a clever sensor that can detect when your face is near it, so it automatically lights up and then switches itself off when you move away.  Neat!  It's also completely wire/cordless which I love and can be recharged with the included USB cord and standard plug adapter.  In nearly two months, I have only recharged this once and I've used it pretty much everyday.

5x magnifying with perfect clarity - no filter or photoshop needed!

This is a 5x magnifying mirror but it allows you to see all of your face as well so you can apply your make-up accurately every time.  The extra magnification is perfect for more complex make-up looks as well and I've found it really helps me when I want to do a precise smokey eye for the evening.  Plus, it's ideal for tweezing eyebrows, facial waxing and (if you're skilled enough to do them yourself), extractions after a DIY facial.  You can see every single detail perfectly.

I'd say that this is one of those products that you try and then never use anything else, ever again. Looking in the mirror that I used to apply my make-up in just isn't the same anymore!  This would make an amazing gift for any beauty junkie, man/woman who takes pride in their appearance or as a special treat for yourself.

simplehuman Magnifying Sensor Mirror* retails for £149 and comes with a 5 year warranty.  Available from lakeland.co.uk with free delivery.

Would you like to receive this as a Christmas Gift this year?

  1. I LOVE the idea of this mirror, but i don't know if it might make me feel really bad about myself LOL -- I sometimes look into magnifying mirrors and am like, oh god, is that what i look like?

    1. Awww no! Frankly I had the same initial fears because it's WEIRD seeing your face magnified like that, but you soon get used to it. And anyway you shouldn't feel bad! xx

  3. Such a lovely sounding and looking mirror, but at that price it’s totally unaffordable at the moment!
