Since discovering the wonders of facial oils and serums a few years ago, I have become a little bit obsessed with them and regularly use one (or two, or three...) in my skincare routine. Caudalie's latest product release, Premier Cru The Elixir, is something that got me very excited indeed.
If you're not familiar with Caudalie, they are a mid-high end French skincare brand who are perhaps most famous for their Beauty Elixir (that constantly talked about spritz toner from a couple of years ago that is still hugely popular with bloggers today - myself included!). Caudalie have several ranges of skincare dedicated to various different skin needs, and their anti-aging Premier Cru line is the most luxurious and expensive range featuring a high-tech anti-aging moisturiser which retails for around £88.
The newest addition to the Premier Cru range is simply called 'The Elixir'; a 99.5% natural anti-aging miracle worker that is half oil and half serum which is free from parabens and silicones. This concept immediately appealed to me as I often use a serum and then a face oil over the top in my evening skincare routine, so I was interested to see what results would come of such a multi-tasking hybrid product.
Seriously, this stuff is amazing!
The Elixir features a unique concoction of five hard working plant oils and three of Caudalie's signature patents. The result is a product that feels a bit like a dry oil (non-greasy) and it helps to target deep wrinkles, age spots, loss of firmness and nourishes and brightens the skin in the process. The glass bottle has a dropper applicator and you only need 3-4 drops each time so it's going to last a while. The Elixir sinks into the skin straight away without any stickiness or residue and the scent is wonderful like a woody rose. I find myself wanting to inhale my hands after use because it smells so good!
The results though are what I imagine you're most interested to hear about and I'm happy to say my skin is looking brighter, the drier areas are feeling more hydrated, but most of all, the small fine lines that I have underneath my eyes look more smoothed out. I don't have any wrinkles as such yet, but seeing how it's managed to smooth out those pesky undereye lines gives me some confidence that this could work really well for those who do have wrinkles.
Definitely one to try if you're in the market for a new serum/face oil.
