Contouring kits have quadrupled since the trend took off in the beauty world a couple of years ago and now almost every makeup brand has at least one that you can buy. I've tried quite a few of them so far, and I'm currently road testing this newly reformulated one from British brand, Sienna X.
Packaged in a rose gold coloured compact, Sienna X's Contour Kit features a cream highlighter and bronzer set. The packaging instantly makes me think of Charlotte Tilbury and it looks very elegant in your makeup bag. There's a large swivel mirror which is great for touch ups on the go and despite being made of plastic, it feels far more luxurious and sturdy than you might think.
This is a cream to powder formula which I always prefer as full on creams can look a little too greasy on my combination skin, especially as the weather heats up.
The bronzer is fantastic; it's very easy to work with and blend out (a must when it comes to contouring!), with the shade being just right to give enough depth and shadow, but without it looking orange or too dark. There's no shimmer in the bronzer, so you can use this happily all over the face to slim down the nose and chisel in some cheekbones etc. I've been using this with my fingers and with a duofibre brush with great results!
I was less impressed with the highlighter though. It's sadly on the chalky side and doesn't feel anywhere near as creamy as the bronzer, so it's definitely more difficult to blend. You really have to warm this up between your fingers because applying it as I found it had a tendency to go a bit patchy on application otherwise. In this kit, I think I'll just be sticking with the bronzer and using a different highlighter if I'm honest.
Sienna X Cream To Powder Contour Kit* retails for £12.95 and is available from sienna-x.co.uk
