Remescar & Purepotions Rosehip Oil review
Scars and stretch marks aren't something that I see talked about much on blogs, yet a huge proportion of women (and men of course) have them.  Whilst I don't think about them for most of the time, I do sometimes feel self conscious during the summer months when I'm showing a little more skin.

Now, I just want to make it very clear that I know scars and stretch marks are very normal and there's no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed about them.  But if they do affect your confidence and you want to try to fade or reduce the appearance of them, help is at hand.  I've been testing out two very different products to see if they would work for me or not.

Remescar Silicone Scar Stick* (5.4g, £19.99, link)
Remescar are quite famous for their stretch mark cream and last year launched a new silicone scar stick.  The stick works by coating the scar with a thin, transparent silicone formula which acts as a protective barrier so the skin can heal itself quicker without having to deal with the elements of the outside world. The silicone aims to maintain the skin's moisture balance and can be used on both old and new scars. It comes packaged in a small twist up tube which is conveniently sized for handbags, plus the formula has an inbuilt SPF15 so it's a good one to pack into your travelbag and take on holiday.

Does it work? Directions are to apply the scar stick twice a day for 2-3 months.  I've been using it for just under 2 months now and sadly, I haven't been able to see any difference.  My old scar just above my ankle looks exactly the same.  This may have a better effect on brand new scars, especially if you've recently had surgery, but for old scars it's not something I can personally recommend.  I also don't think you get very much product for the pricetag.

Purepotions Scar Oil* (50ml, £18.99, link)
On the otherside of the spectrum, I've been trying out Purepotions' Scar Oil which is a 100% natural formula that features a blend of key ingredients such as Rosehip Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Calendula Oil.  It can be used on scars and stretch marks, but also doubles up as a face oil for dehydrated, uneven and ageing skin as well.

Does it work?  I've been using a small amount of this on a small scar on my leg that I've had for years, massaging in a few drops of the oil as directed everyday for nearly two months.  I've noticed that the scar has become a lot lighter, thus much less visible than before, and I'm quite excited to see if it will fade even further with continued use.  I wasn't expecting to see such great results so quickly so I'm very happy with this one!

Have you tried any of these?
Do you use any products for scars / stretch marks?

  1. I love the look of the Pure potions oil and so great that it gave you good results, I have stretch marks from having had a baby and whilst they don't bother me too much I use oil on them daily to keep the skin in good condition and they look so much better than they did when they first happened! Xx
