Wilkinson Sword Intuition Complete Bikini Razor review

If you choose to remove your body hair, these two razors from Wilkinson Sword will have you Spring ready in no time at all!

When it comes to body hair removal, choices are generally pinpointed on a spectrum of pain; from epilators and waxing, to dissolving creams and razors, I have always tended to opt for the latter which is generally pain-free :D

That said, as we continue to actively choose more and more sustainable products in our beauty routines, where do razors fit in? Well, they're never going to be zero waste, but there are some brands that are definitely improving what they're doing for the environment, such as Wilkinson Sword.

Lightweight and super-easy to use, the reusable Wilkinson Sword Intuition Complete Bikini Trimmer & Razor is a dual-sided beauty tool that's ultra-convenient. On one end, you have the waterproof Bikini Trimmer (operated by an AAA battery) which features four different trim lengths to style your bikini area however you desire. The adjustable comb lets you get to hard-to-reach areas for the perfect finish and the head is detachable for easy cleaning afterward.

The other end has a five-blade razor with a skin-protect bar of gel that contains Hyaluronic Acid for the smoothest and most comfortable shave possible. Best of all, the razor head is replaceable and can be switched for any refills from Wilkinson Sword's Intuition Complete and Sensitive Touch ranges. I was also pleased that the inner packaging is cardboard instead of plastic - well done WS!

I'll be honest here, disposable razors are best to be avoided where possible. However, there are occasions where they come in handy for the purposes of travelling, so if you're stocking up for your next holiday, I'd recommend the Wilkinson Sword Xtreme Beauty Eco Green Razors

Each razor has a handle which is made from 95% recycled plastic, and after use, the handle can be recycled again (just detach the razor head before recycling). In addition, all of the outer packaging is made from FSC certified sources that's made from over 90% recycled paper.

These razors are really, really good and feature three flexible blades that follows the contours of your body for a very close and precise shave. There are also two lubricating strips formulated with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to protect from skin irritation and the handle feels comfortable to grip and use.

What's your preferred method of hair removal?

Friction Free Shaving Gift Box review
The weather has been glorious this weekend and I have definitely been making the most of it by getting my legs out in some pretty summer dresses! If you choose to remove your body hair, you'll want to check out this beautiful Gift Box from Friction Free Shaving for the smoothest shave of your life!

Friction Free Shaving Gift Box review
Friction Free Shaving have become well known for their subscription boxes, which deliver high-quality razors, refills and shaving products direct to your door, operating as the world's first and only shaving club that's exclusively for women. In the first box, you'll receive the razor of your choice (which can be engraved with your name for an extra £5), a set of refills and the option to add full-size shaving products if desired. In the months that follow, you'll be sent a fresh set of refills so that you can say goodbye once and for all to dull, dirty blades and hello to a silky smooth shave every time! Plus ditching disposable razors and only buying refills is much better for the environment and your wallet.

FFS also have one-off gift boxes available to purchase, and I was very kindly sent one of these last month to review. It contains everything that you could possibly need and is a fantastic introduction to the brand.

Friction Free Shaving Gift Box review
When I opened the box, I let out an excited squeal because not only is the razor ROSE GOLD (aka the best colour EVER), but it also had my name engraved on it and everyone knows that personalised products are the fastest way to impress someone when you're sending them a gift. This engraving is a free service as part of the gift box too - win win!

The razor itself is the best quality razor that I've ever had the pleasure of using. It's the world's first metal razor which has been specially designed for women and features a full 90 degrees pivot head to fit the natural curves of a woman's body. The handle is also weighted and has a rubberised grip underneath so it feels sturdy and comfortable to hold. And that gorgeous rose gold colour? It's not only pretty to look at - it's chrome plated to prevent rust meaning that your razor will stay happy in the shower and looking its best for longer.

Friction Free Shaving Gift Box review
But it's not just the razor handle that's impressive. The refillable German-engineered blade heads consist of a lubricated Vitamin E strip and six stainless steel blades which are diamond coated to give you the closest shave imaginable. I'm used to using razors that have three or four blades, and using one that has SIX really does make a massive difference (and I'm sure the sheer quality of the blades that FFS use also add significantly to its overall performance). These blades glide effortlessly across the skin and they whip off every hair that they come into contact with, even those tricky shorter ones that other cheaper or disposable razors might miss.

Flip the head to the top side, and you'll find a clever inbuilt bikini styling blade which is perfect for tidying up the bikini line and eliminating any strays - very handy to travel with!

Friction Free Shaving Gift Box review
To complete the Gift Box, you'll find three full-size shaving products from FFS:-

Pre Shave Scrub (100ml) - A gentle exfoliator which is made with tiny pieces of Walnut husks to get rid of any ingrown hairs and prevent any annoying razor bumps. I always find that exfoliating before shaving is a key step to prepping the skin and definitely shouldn't be skipped.

Shave Cream (100ml) - An award-winning Shave Cream that's packed full of moisturising ingredients such as Manuka Honey, Shea Butter and Coconut Oil. I loved using this and it complements the razor so well without it getting continually clogged.

Post Shave Balm (100ml) - Finish off your shaving routine with an ultra-soothing and hydrating Post Shave Balm which will instantly calm any irritation and leave your legs feeling in the best shape possible.

Budget Beauty: What's New At Superdrug (Cruelty-Free Everyday Products)
Heading to Superdrug over the Bank Holiday weekend to stock up on some beauty bits? Here are a couple of their latest own-brand and exclusive products to add to your shopping basket - all of which are budget friendly and cruelty-free!
Solait Holiday Sun Protection Pack
Solait Family Holiday Sun Protection Pack* (£13.99, link)

Superdrug have brought back their hugely popular Solait Family Holiday Sun Protection Pack again this year, which contains everything that you need to keep the whole family protected during their summer holiday. Inside the pack, you get four full-size products; Solait SPF 15 Moisturising Sun Lotion, Solait SPF 30 Moisturising Sun Lotion, Kids SPF 50 Moisturising Sun Lotion and Solait Moisturising After Sun Lotion. Each of the sun lotions provides advanced protection against both UVA and UVB rays, are dermatologically approved and water resistant, plus the whole Solait range, like all of Superdrug's own brand ranges, are certified cruelty-free. You can even re-use the clear PVC bag that the pack comes in as a beach bag too - how handy is that?!
Superdrug Build Me Up Tan Gradual Body Lotion in Medium/Dark
Superdrug Build Me Up Tan Gradual Body Lotion in Medium/Dark* (250ml, £4.99, link)

Getting a tan from a bottle is, of course, the safest and healthiest way to get a holiday glow, but if you're not keen on using fake tan, or are worried about going too dark or orange, try a gradual body lotion instead. These have a very small amount of tanning agent in them, but they feel like a regular body moisturiser and you apply them as such so they're super easy to work with. They won't make you look like you've come back from the Bahamas, but they will slowly let you build up a very subtle and natural looking 'hint' of a tan, so they're a great product to try if you're nervous about fake tanning or have very pale skin. Give the Superdrug Build Me Up Tan Gradual Body Lotion a go, which is available in Light/Medium or Medium/Dark for less than a fiver, and it gives a lovely light glow to the skin with daily use.
Superdrug Five Blade Ladies Disposable Razors
Superdrug Five Blade Ladies Disposable Razors* (3 pack, £4.29, link)

I have tried a lot of different brands of razors over the years, and I've discovered two main things. The first thing is that drugstore own brands are generally as good as, if not better, than more expensive 'big' brands like Gilette, and secondly, if you want a really close, flawless shave, you need more blades in your razors. I tend to buy four or five blade razors, and these five blade ones from Superdrug's own brand are brilliant!
Studio London Mascara Wands
Studio London Mascara Wands* (pack of 12, £3.99, link)

If you love experimenting with different mascaras, but you're on a budget, these new mascara wands from Studio London are a genius idea. They launched last month and I've been having a really fun time playing with them! In the pack, you get 12 mascara wands (three of each design) and each colour denotes a different mascara finish. For example, you can use the Orange thick wand for increasing the volume of your lashes, the Pink skinny wand for lengthening them, the Yellow dense wand for adding lots of drama (ideal for a night out), and the Purple ball wand for when you want more definition and detail. My personal faves are the Yellow and Purple wands, and you can use them with any of your mascaras. A great way to experiment with some new looks without breaking the bank!

Regular readers will know that I'm a big fan of Superdrug - all of their own brand stuff is certified cruelty-free and they stock a lot of smaller brands, as well as the big, well-known ones. Here are some new products that have recently caught my eye in Superdrug which are perfect if you're on a budget.
