Shopping My Stash

Wednesday 5 September 2012

I've been meaning to do a 'Shopping My Stash' post for absolutely ages, but it was only when I saw Sophia's posts recently, that I finally decided to have a good old rummage through my make-up collection.  The concept of 'Shopping My Stash' is simple - you basically go shopping via your beauty stash!  No money or budgeting required.   Now that's really the best kind of shopping isn't it?

I decided to just pick out a handful (or two) of make-up items that I have neglected in the hope of rediscovering and finally using them on a more regular basis.  Some of these I've had in my collection for a while, others I've simply bought in recent months, used once or twice and then promptly forgotten about them in favour of other products.  Oh the life of a fickle beauty junkie eh?!

Stila Stunning In Sayulita Collectible Beach Palette No. 1
I received this palette last year for my birthday.  It features four shimmery neutral based eyeshadows, a blush and a highlighter.  The eyeshadows aren't as pigmented as I hoped they would be, but they make lovely bases / layer well, and are nice to use for just a sheer wash of colour during the summer months.  The blush is beautifully pigmented and the highlighter is gorgeous too!  A nice travel bag friendly palette that I really should get more use out of.

Dior 5 Colour Eyeshadow in Beige Massai 705
This came in a GWP goody bag and it's the cutest little eyeshadow palette I've ever seen.  All of the eyeshadows are neutral and silky soft.

By Terry Lip Expert Hydra Shine Gloss in Crazy Nude
An impulse duty free purchase earlier in the year and I believe I've only used it maybe twice so far (oops!).  It's a lovely nude lipgloss but one that I feel is hideously overpriced for what it is.

NARS Orgasm Blusher
Quite frankly the most popular blusher ever to exist in the history of make-up, and yet one that I only sometimes reach for, despite it suiting my skintone perfectly.  This is actually the second Orgasm blusher I've bought because the first one I had was my first ever high-end make-up purchase when I was 16 and I subsequently used the whole thing up!  Since re-purchasing it though, I rarely seem to use it.  However after seeing Veronica's recent review of it, I've since rediscovered my love for this cult blush.

theBalm Fratboy Blush
I wore this loads when it first came to me in a Carmine box last year, but like so many of my other blushers, it has been pushed to the back of my overflowing blush make-up drawer.

No7 Natural Blush Cheek Colour in 12 Coral Flush
This is such a gorgeous blush that I won in a giveaway from Alex and like theBalm one above, I got a lot of use out of it when I first had it, but now I haven't used it in a while.  I guess I could have done an entire Shopping My Stash post on just blushers because whenever I buy a new one, the current one at the time always seems to fall to the wayside a bit.

Everyday Minerals Eye Shadows in Rare Silk, Swing Set, Diary and Wild Flowers
I love these neutral eyeshadows, but almost all of my eyeshadows in my collection have been neglected in favour of that damn Naked Palette.  Maybe I need to hide it, so I'll use these more often?

Eyeko Fat Eyestick in Satin Taupe
Another make-up item that's come from a beauty box and one that I did like a lot at first but again, haven't used in a while.  It makes a lovely base for doing a subtle smokey eye with.

Paul & Joe Eyeliner Pencil in 06
I believe this came in a bargain gift set that I found in TKMaxx a few months ago.  I've been stuck in a black eyeliner rut for ages, so I've pulled this out to try out some different looks because I love bronzey golds.

Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Super Volume Mascara
A magazine freebie from a while back, I have a love/hate thing going on with this.  It's not a super volumising mascara as you'd expect and can be rather messy to use because the brush is SO big, but I do love the blackness of it.

Clinique High Lengths Mascara
This was acquired from their last mascara swap promotion and again I have a love/hate relationship with it.  I love how lengthening it is and because it doesn't add any volume, it's perfect for the everyday/work-friendly face.  But that wand is so weird and can be super fiddly to use (or I simply haven't got the hang of it yet!).

    1. Yeah I've heard a lot of people saying that, I think I'd like it more if the brush was redesigned to be slightly smaller, it just seems too big for the tube and you sometimes get the product everywhere, annoying!
Thanks so much for following :)

    1. Thank you! I really rate Everyday Minerals eyeshadows, they're easy to work with and they have a good range of matte shades too which can be quite hard to find because so many mineral ones have shimmery mica in them.
      Will do :)

  13. I love shopping the stash posts! They're a great way to rediscover old loves and remind yourself how many lovely products you actually have but don't use as much as you probably should. I have been meaning to get NARS Orgasm for ages and have probably bought countless so-called "dupes" since :p Frat Boy is also on my wishlist!

    1. I agree, it's a lot of fun rummaging through everything and coming across forgotten favourites. I think if I didn't already own Orgasm, I'd probably just stick with one of the many great dupes for it, though I do love it to bits. Fratboy is gorgeous :)
