Review: Japonesque Safari Chic Brush Set

Japonesque Safari Chic Brush Set (£28, link)*

I'm sure by now you'll have already seen these ultra cute animal print make-up brushes from Japonesque on the blogosphere, so as always, I'm going to throw my own two cents into the mix anyway!

Japonesque's Safari Chic Brush Set consists of three travel sized, synthetic make-up brushes.  They come with their own little fold over pouch/holder which makes it really easy to pop into your bag.  In the set you have a Powder Brush, Shadow Brush and a Crease Brush.  Oh yeah, and the brushes are ANIMAL PRINT!

Cuteness aside, are the brushes any good?
The brushes are all super soft and made from high quality synthetic fibres (always a plus in my books!).  I've used them several times since receiving them, and haven't had any issues with shedding at all.  The Powder Brush is definitely my favourite of the three.  It's really fantastic for applying bronzer and translucent/setting powder due to its head size and the fact that it's quite densely packed too.  I find it works equally well with both loose minerals and pressed powders.

At first, I found the shape of the Shadow and Crease Brushes a bit too big and too wide for their appointed purposes, but using the Crease Brush as a base brush for eyeshadows instead works much better for me, and using the Shadow Brush as your typical 'fluffy' eye brush for blending a smoky eye look works really well.

Priced at £28 for the set, I think these are quite expensive for what they are (don't get me wrong, they're good brushes but value wise, you can pick up a set of four full size Real Techniques Brushes for £21.99 for example).  That said, I haven't come across any other brushes that are animal print like these, so if you have any beauty junkie friends who also love anything cute like this, then they would make great xmas gifts!

What do you think of these Japonesque Safari Chic animal print make-up brushes?
Something you're coveting or not your thing?

  5. I love the set and kabuki! Eye brushes are certainly too big, but all four are washing and keeping their shape as good as new!

  6. I think these look very pretty but don't think they would work for me and for how I apply my make up. The animal print is tempting, though! haha x
