Usually I'm a total sucker for nail trends, but the whole 'textured' thing is one that I've allowed to pass me by. Until now of course. My friend Sophie gave me a trio of Barry M Nail Paints as part of my Christmas present, and my eyes were immediately drawn to this one.
This shade is called 'Countess' and it's from Barry M's Royal inspired Collection last year. In the bottle it looks like an intriguing metallic bronze meets purple with fine flecks of gold and red glitter, but on the nails it translates to a more purple glitter with a matte finish. The 'textured' look of this feels a bit dull and boring to me, but it wasn't as rough feeling as I was expecting.
Still, I wasn't digging it.
I applied a thick coat of Seche Vite over the top (see below) and it was like HELLO!
That glossy shine just makes this shade pop and transforms it instantly into something that I now love. Sorry textured nails, but a shiny top coat is always going to win!
Are you a fan of the textured nails trend or not?
