5 New Skincare Additions for Autumn

Monday 29 September 2014

I've recently changed a few things around in my skincare routine as I find my skin needs some more attention during the Autumn months, so I thought I'd share the new additions that I'm loving at the moment.  These would all work exceptionally well for a Salon Skincare style pamper.

The Creamy Cleanser
Much of the summer months are often dominated by Micellar Waters and light cleansers, but when the season changes, I tend to gravitate back towards thicker cream cleansers to give my skin more hydration.  A new favourite of mine is Bee Good Honey & Propolis Cream Cleanser* (100ml, £11.50, link) which is has a rich and thick texture and not only dissolves make-up quickly, but also gives a gentle, yet effective thorough cleanse to the skin.  I also like that it's reasonably priced, yet feels much more expensive than what it is.

The Non-Manual Exfoliator
There's a lot of discussion revolving around whether it's better to exfoliate your skin using a manual exfoliator (e.g one that has 'scrubby bits') or a non-manual exfoliator (e.g a non scrubby one that uses acids to exfoliate the skin instead).  Although I rotate between the two, I generally prefer non-manual exfoliators in A/W because my skin is less oily and more sensitive.  Jurlique's Fruit Enzyme Exfoliator* (50ml, £34, link) has a fruit acid and enzyme based formula that gently 'dissolves/eats away' the dead skin cells on top, and leaves me with smooth and clearer skin every time I use it.  It's quite simply amazing stuff!

The Soothing Face Mask
As mentioned above, I find that my skin becomes more sensitive when the weather gets colder, so to keep it happy I like to treat it to a 'soothing' face mask.  Jurlique Nurturing Mask* (100ml, £43, link) is one of the best I've tried for sensitive skin and has the added bonus of Natural Clay to draw out impurities as well making it perfect for combination skintypes like mine.  It gives the skin a much needed 'drink' by boosting its hydration levels and features Chinese Herbs amongst other skin loving ingredients, to rebalance and calm down sensitive skin.

The Multi-Purpose Product
One of my favourite beauty discoveries has been the new Aveda Shampure Composition Oil* (50ml, £22, link) which has the most beautiful calming scent thanks to its unique blend of 25 flower and plant essences.  I've been using this as a bath and body oil for pampering sessions and it also works really well as a treatment for dry/itchy scalps.  You only need to use a few drops each time, so I imagine it'll last for a good few months, and again, the scent is gorgeous!

The Face Oil
Keeping with the theme of caring for sensitive skin, I've been finding that Barefoot SOS Repair & Renew Intensive Treatment Oil* (25ml, £28, link) is a night time miracle worker.  It has Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip, Argan and Evening Primrose Oils which all help to nourish the skin with lots of antioxidants and Essential Fatty Acids which in turn helps to promote healthy skin cells.  It feels light and relatively non-greasy (again you only need to use a few drops) and just gives my skin that extra TLC that it needs to renew itself overnight.

Have you changed anything in your skincare routine recently?
