Better You Magnesium Flakes Original Foot & Body Soak review
Whether you're a new gym bunny with muscle aches, someone with sensitive or dry skin, an insomniac, or a woman dealing with those time of the month cramps, these magnesium flakes from BetterYou will sort you out in no time at all.

I've read a lot of about the benefits of using magnesium flakes in your bath, but it wasn't until I actually tried them out for myself, did I fully understand (and appreciate!) just how incredible this all-natural mineral is. The ones that I have tried are from BetterYou which contain a super pure and easily absorbed form of magnesium that is guaranteed to be free from man-made pollutants. It's mined in a special area in northern Holland, where the magnesium comes from sea deposits that are over 250 million years old. Wow!

Why is magnesium important?
Magnesium plays an important role in your body as it helps to regulate over 300 enzymes and their associated reactions, basically keeping them working as they should be. Sounds simple enough right? Unfortunately, a lot of people are deficient in magnesium and many experts from articles I've read are blaming this on our busy modern lives which typically leads us to having diets that are high in processed and artificially fortified foods. This causes an imbalance and deficiency, however it's one that's difficult to fix as a lot of people can't tolerate taking magnesium supplements orally, especially if you have stomach problems. So how can you up your magnesium intake then? By bathing in it! It's easy to forget that skin is the largest organ of the body and it helps to absorb and filter out toxins. Hence, bathing in magnesium flakes basically allows the skin to drink up all that goodness, at a safe level that your body can handle and process. Easy!

What are the additional health benefits to bathing with magnesium flakes and who can use them?
Not only are they great overall for your body, but they also help to relieve muscle aches and menstrual cramps, improve circulation, soothe eczema, acne and psoriasis, reduce inflammation, improve sleep, help you relax and de-stress, and they also come in useful as a good body hydrator leaving you with baby soft skin. Everyone can use them as well - they're 100% natural and contain no animal ingredients so they're suitable for vegans, and they're safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How do I use them?
For a bath, I generally use about a quarter of the bag (around 250g is preferable) and I have a good soak for at least half an hour. They don't really have a scent to them (sort of sea salt like but not strong to my nose), so I like to add a few drops of essential oils to maximise my 'me' time and create more of a spa-like atmosphere. I haven't tried them as a foot soak yet, but you can give this a go with around 150g in 5 litres of water.

My overall thoughts?
I have a lot of problems sleeping, I often feel stressed or anxious, and I suffer from eczema flare ups every now and again, so I've really noticed the benefits of having a magnesium bath! They help to calm my mind which in turn gives me a better night's sleep, and my skin feels wonderfully soft when I get out of the tub. Highly recommended.
