August Favourites

Saturday 1 September 2012

I know I must say this every month, but doesn't the time just fly by these days?  Can't believe it's September today!  Here are my favourites for August which are split into skincare and make-up sections below.

REN Mayblossom Balancing Cleansing Gel
In my attempt to use up some samples, I cracked open the REN Six of The Best kit that I acquired at the start of the month and pulled out this cleansing gel to try out.  It's perfect for oily/combination skin and thoroughly cleanses, yet doesn't give you that tight squeaky clean feeling which I'm not a fan of.  Although I've only been using this for a short time, I know it's something I'll be saving up to get a full size of when it runs out.

Liz Earle Brightening Treatment Mask
It's rare that I find skincare products that work like magic instantly, but this mask really does!  My skin looks brighter after just one use and in turn, I look all refreshed and wide awake.  Perfect for Monday mornings.  Reviewed here

Etat Pur Salicylic Acid 300mg
A new addition to my bedside table, this solution reduces the size of spots quickly and helps to keep them at bay.  Reviewed here.

Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush & Base Shadow Brush
It's really no surprise that these two have found their way into my daily make-up routine.  The Deluxe Crease Brush is just perfect for buffing and blending in creamy concealers and the Base Shadow Brush does exactly what it says on the tin.  Reviewed here.

Wet 'n' Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Trio in Silent Treatment
I love this little trio so much and I'm still amazed how beautifully soft and pigmented the shades are for the price!  Review & swatches here.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers
Yes these are stupidly expensive for what they are, but definitely worth the hype IMO.  Well worth investing in if you use mascara on a pretty much daily basis like I do.  Reviewed here.

MAC Matte Powder Blush in Harmony
My new favourite contour/bronzer.  Gives a natural glow and definition, plus it lasts all day on me.
Review & swatches here.

Essence Nail Polish in Blue Addicted
That budget dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Across The Universe.  LOVE IT!  NOTD here.

Essential Care Mineral Concealer in Fair*
It's so hard to come across concealers that don't crease underneath the eyes, so you can imagine how happy I was when I tested this one out.  Has a creamy texture and doesn't cake or crease on me for several hours.   Review & swatches here.

Essential Care Mineral Lipstick in Praline*
This is my new favourite pinky nude lipstick.  So easy to wear for everyday and doesn't make me look washed out.  A brilliant natural alternative to MAC lipsticks quality wise.  Review & swatches here

I haven't seen that Liz Earle mask (must have been living under a rock?!) but I'm definitely a lot more interested in REN skin care as they seem to be popping up everywhere!

  9. I really want to try Liz Earle products, but sadly they're not available where I live as far as I know. I wish I could get my hands on Silent Treatment as well, I'm loving the taupey purple in it :)

  10. I think I need the Liz Earle mask, I'm forever being told I look tired. I'm debating what RT brushes to get too or to just stick with Sigma and Ecotools.

    1. It's really amazing stuff, definitely one to try if you need your skin to look 'awake' first thing in the morning! I love the RT brushes and couldn't be without them now, but I still use my Ecotools ones in conjunction with them :) x
