Tried & Tested: Bumble and Bumble Creme De Coco Masque

Bumble and Bumble Creme De Coco Masque (150ml, £21.50, link)*

If you've been following my blog for a while, you may have picked up on the fact that I love anything coconut scented.  So when this tube of Bumble and Bumble Creme De Coco Masque popped through my letterbox, the very first thing I did was have a good old sniff.  And believe me when I say it smells oh-so-good!  But what did my hair think of it?

Bumble and Bumble Creme De Coco Masque is an intensive hair treatment for those with dry and/or dull looking hair who want it to be silky soft and glossy looking.  I have very dry lengths and ends which can feel quite brittle if I don't give it some extra moisturising TLC every now and again, so Creme De Coco sounded like an ideal hair mask for me to try out.  This hair masque features a trio of tropical butters (Shea, Mango and Seed) as well as Kukui Nut Oil to soften the hair and restore shine, the latter being something that I find a much more common problem to combat as we head into A/W when hair can naturally start to look dull.

What did my hair think of it?
The formula of Creme De Coco is your standard very thick conditioning cream as you'd probably expect from any kind of intensely moisturising hair treatment.  After shampooing, I slathered a generous amount onto my hair and wrapped it up in a hair turban to work its magic for around 20 minutes, and then I rinsed it all out.

My hair was left feeling very hydrated, was much more manageable to style and after I had dried it, looked noticeably shinier and more healthy looking.  However, I found the results to be a little short-lived, in that the moisturising effect was only felt for around a day, whereas I've used similar hair treatments in the past which have kept my dry hair hydrated for around 2 days.  That said, on the second day, my hair still looked much shiner that it usually would do.

You can also use Creme De Coco as a much quicker conditioning treatment if you're short on time (just leave it on shampooed hair for 7 minutes and rinse it out instead), but when I tried this, I didn't notice as big a difference in moisturising results as I did when I left it on for 20 mins in a hair turban.

A good hair treatment that smells gorgeous, but one that I would perhaps recommend to those who have slightly dry hair rather than very dry hair.

Do you use anything from Bumble and Bumble?

  1. This sounds good enough to eat! But unfortunately for the price I don't think I could justify buying it considering it's more of a short-term product xxx

    1. I agree, I do think it's a little overpriced for the results it gives. Saying that though, it may be much more suitable for people with normal-dry hair xxx

  2. I wanted to try this but to be honest I probably won't now- thanks for such an honest review! I've got BB Prep and the salt spray, both I find a little lacking in some ways. I'm yet to find a BB product I'm totally in love with, which puts me off trying more!! xxx

    1. I've tried a travel size of their salt spray before and my hair just hated it, was far too drying for me personally. I think BB have some great products that people rave about, but I'm in the same boat as you, in that I haven't tried anything by them that I've completely loved just yet xxx

    1. You can use it once a week as an intensive hair treatment (like 20 mins or more with your hair wrapped in a turban or towel), or you can use it more regularly if you just leave it on for 7 mins and rinse out straight away instead :)
I'll have to check out that Lush one, sounds good :) xx
