Rave Review: Real Techniques Blush Brush

Tuesday 6 August 2013

Real Techniques Blush Brush (£9.99, link)

I never thought I'd ever be writing a post about how much I love a blusher brush.  Funny how things turn out isn't it?!  I'm a big blush fan but I'd never quite found a brush to apply it with that I truly adored, until now.

Samantha Chapman's Real Techniques brushes have become every blogger's favourite go-to brand when they're looking to buy some new make-up tools.  I was a slow convert to the trend when they exploded onto the scene, naively thinking that I didn't need anymore make-up brushes in my collection.  How wrong I was.  Overnight, it seemed that everyone (including myself) began to religiously use the now infamous Buffing Brush to apply foundation, and that was just the beginning.  I have the Core Collection and the Your Eyes / Starter Set, but I was always hungry for more.  I'd been eyeing up a couple of the singly available brushes in Boots for a long time, so you can imagine my delight when I won one in Angelica's giveaway.  And what a beauty it is!

The Real Techniques Blush Brush has a stylish metallic pink handle and a clever, matte black rubberised end for easy handling (why don't all make-up brushes come like this?!).  But let's get to it - that brush head.  It's pretty damn big!

That generously sized bunch of cruelty-free, synthetic, hand-cut taklon bristles is why I want to rave about this brush so much.  For me, it's the perfect size for applying and blending blush right across the cheekbonesI've been using this exclusively with powder blushers, and it's simply the easiest brush I've ever used.  A light swipe across a pan picks up a small amount of product, and then it blends into the skin flawlessly.

I've also been using it to apply powder bronzer for a sunkissed glow and on my t-zone with setting powder to keep shine at bay.  It delivers great results both ways making it a brilliant multi-tasking piece of kit to have in your collection.

Now I know some people have found this particular brush to be too big, but if you have chipmunk cheeks like mine, then you should definitely check it out.  It's unbelievably soft like all of the other Real Techniques brushes that I own, and it also dries super fast after cleansing as well.  Win-win!

What's your favourite blush brush?

  1. I have most of the RT brushes but this one is missing from my collection. Definitely need to treat myself to it, I think!

  3. I absolutely love RT brushes. I've been trying to get my hands on this brush but it was sold out last time I tried to get it. RT brushes aren't readily available where I live so it's so hard for me to build up my collection!

  19. I have heard such good things about the Real Techniques range but have yet to purchase. I really like all the other brushes I use for my makeup but, like you, I haven't found a blush brush which I think WOW!, so I might have to take a much closer look next time I'm in Boots. I've picked up the range and put it back on the shelf sooooo many times, maybe now is the time to bite the bullet! x

    1. I was the same for ages because I have quite a large brush collection, but I LOVE my RT ones and have ended up neglecting my others and using these the most! x

  20. I've been a bit loathed to spend that much money on a blush brush up until now, however I recently bought it, and I must say I really like it. Its incredibly soft, and my colour disperses nicely. Great review lovely x
