Budget Beauty Tip: Use hair conditioner as shaving cream

When I picked up my Sleek bits in Superdrug, I remember seeing a group of young girls going to the tills, their baskets full of products. Oddly enough, I recall them purchasing shaving cream and I thought to myself 'Why?'. Shaving cream/foam/etc is SO expensive, just use hair conditioner instead.

I'm currently using a 91p bottle of Boots own brand Coconut and Almond conditioner and it works exactly the same, if not better, because it doesn't make my skin feel dry afterwards.

Any cheap brand of hair conditioner will do and it's a great way to use up any bottle that you bought for your hair but didn't like. I've also seen people talk about using the creamy soaps from Lush for shaving and that seems to work too.

Save yourselves some £££s and give it a go :)

  1. OMG! Such a great, great tip! Thank you so much! :) For years I've been trying to think of a product acting as a shaving cream - but on a budget. The foams are SO expensive! :) X

  2. Conditioner smells SO much better than shaving cream too! I have quite bad eczema & using shaving cream used to be such a pain but conditioner works on even my skin :) x

  3. Hi!

Fell on your blog randomly - love it! Am a follower now :)

I NEVER buy shaving cream... I always use shower gel (the creamy type)! I've never used conditioner though but I totally agree it's such a waste of money buying it.

  4. @Mademoiselle - I always that the foams didn't last long either, they got used up so fast as well as being super expensive. Let me know if you try this!

@Shanice - I agree. I have flare ups of eczema too and found that a lot of shaving creams just aggravated it. I don't have that problem anymore!

@Terri - Ooo I'll try that next time I've ran out of this. Am following yours too :) x

  8. @Hollie - I used to get that from using certain shaving foams so I've been using hair conditioner ever since instead and no problems! Plus it's MUCH cheaper :) x
