Budget Beauty | Boots 17 Makeup | Extreme Extension Lengthening Mascara, Glow Is Everything CC Cream & Second Skin Enhancing Concealer review

Budget Beauty | 17 Makeup | Extreme Extension Mascara, Glow Is Everything CC Cream & Second Skin Enhancing Concealer review

When it comes to budget-friendly makeup, you can't beat a trip to Boots to see what's on offer. These days, it's easier than ever to choose cruelty-free and vegan cosmetics that won't break the bank. As I've been feeling nostalgic this month, I thought I'd try out some of the bestsellers from the popular 17 makeup range.

If you grew up as a young girl in England, you're probably quite familiar with the Boots 17 brand. Like many teenagers, some of my very first makeup purchases were from this range (if I remember correctly, it was a bright pink lipstick and a lilac single eyeshadow with lots of glitter), so it's been an interesting experience to pick up a couple of products to try out and see how they feel as a mid-30's millennial. The brand has had a much-hyped revival after being discontinued in 2018 and there are plenty of new treats to discover with everything costing £5 or under!

I've played it safe and chosen some everyday makeup staples to see how they compare to what I generally use on a day-to-day basis, which may help those who are seeking some cheaper alternatives due to the cost of living crisis.

17 Makeup | Extreme Extension Mascara review
17 Extreme Extension Lengthening Mascara in Black (12ml, £4 or £3 with a Boots Advantage Card)

I'll have to admit that it's been a while since I've used a mascara that cost less than a fiver so I didn't have high expectations. 17 has a couple of different mascara formulas on offer and Extreme Extension sounded like the ideal one for me as I typically look for lots of length and definition. The packaging is very basic and quite chunky, but the rubberized flexible wand looked promising.

First coat on and I really loved the results; it definitely adds noticeable length to my short lashes, defines them nicely, and has great pigmentation. The second coat, however, caused my lashes to stick and clump together so it didn't work for me as a buildable mascara. That said, for a one-coat, everyday mascara, it stays put for a good 8 hours and doesn't flake or smudge which is £4 well spent in my opinion!

Boots 17 Makeup Glow Is Everything CC Cream review swatches
17 Glow Is Everything CC Cream (30ml, £4)

Packaged in a cute squeezy tube, I'd seen the Glow Is Everything CC Cream raved about on various socials so this one was an obvious choice for me to try out. Having been pre-warned about the very limited shade range (this CC Cream is available in only four shades), I picked up the oddly named 003P which looked like a standard beige colour online and IRL this was a decent match for my light-medium skin tone.

Upon squeezing a little of the product out, I noticed a slight chemical/plastic smell but it wasn't too off-putting so I grabbed a beauty blender sponge and cracked on. The light coverage looked surprisingly good with a subtle dewy/glowy finish and lasted well for 7-8 hours of wear. Again, this would be great for every day and those fresh 'no makeup makeup' looks. I did find that it oxidized later on in the day, turning a little orangey on my skin, but I felt that I could maybe get away with it when my complexion is a bit more tanned in the summer months. Not bad at all for the price point.

Boots 17 Makeup Second Skin Enhancing Concealer review swatches
17 Second Skin Enhancing Concealer (£2)

The most talked about product was the 17 Second Skin Enhancing Concealer which retails for the bargain price of just two pounds. Two quid! I couldn't believe my eyes! Into the basket it went, although straight off the bat, the shade range is again very limited with just ten colours on offer.

001P looked like my best bet which is suitable for light-medium skin tones. The texture and consistency of this concealer is amazing. It blends so easily and definitely delivers a natural skin-like finish which feels velvety smooth! The coverage is also pretty decent; it won't fully conceal dark circles but with a corrector underneath, it achieves a lovely flawless effect that didn't crease into my fine lines and feels creamy and hydrating. I'd say this worked better for my under eyes than a blemish concealer. Like the CC Cream, it does oxidize a little throughout the day so I'd recommend picking a lighter shade. This is currently my best budget buy of the year so far!

- Everything is vegan-friendly
- Great for everyday wear
- Easy products to apply & blend

Cons:

Bring Sunshine To Your Bathroom with Sol de Janeiro | Bom Dia Bright, Brazillian 4-Play & Coco Cabana Body Washes review

Sol De Janeiro | Bom Dia Bright, Brazillian 4-Play & Coco Cabana Body Washes review

The weather may be horrible outside, but you can beat the winter blues with these sunny delights from Sol de Janeiro. Bursting with summery, uplifting fragrances, you can daydream of your next holiday in the sunshine whilst you're in the shower!

Everywhere I look on my socials, there's always someone mentioning Sol de Janeiro lately, and truth be told, I hadn't really explored much from the brand until now. I've used their bestselling Brazillian Bum Bum Cream on and off for years and have enjoyed that gorgeous signature scent (which you really must try if you haven't already) so it was definitely time to see what else was on offer.

Although Sol de Janeiro isn't an entirely natural brand, they are cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, and have a transparent 'clean philosophy' which means that they have banned over 100 'nasties' from all of its formulas. These include parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, phthalates, microplastics, aluminum salts, talc, and oxybenzone to name just a few.

In addition, all of their sunscreens are certified reef safe, they don't use cyclic silicones (the ones linked to buildup on the hair and in our water systems), and the preservative phenoxyethanol is only present in clinically safe amounts (less than 1% of total formula). You can read more about their clean philosophy here.

Sol De Janeiro | Bom Dia Bright, Brazillian 4-Play & Coco Cabana Body Washes review
With this in mind, I was keen to try some of their bestselling Body Washes which a friend recently raved about to me, and with their delicious summery scents, I couldn't say no. I picked up the smaller travel-size bottles as they were on offer when I was in Boots but larger sizes are available. They are pricey but mighty!

Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia Bright Clarifying AHA BHA Body Wash
Bom Dia Bright is a newbie to the Sol de Janeiro range and is a clarifying Coconut based sulfate-free body wash that's packed full of fruit-derived AHAs, vegan Lactic Acid, and Salicyclic Acid. This combination packs a punch when it comes to gently exfoliating your body, visibly brightening and smoothing it. If you suffer from ingrown hairs, this is perfect as it'll get rid of any congested lumps and bumps. Bom Dia Bright is delicately scented with the sunny Cheirosa 40 fragrance which is wonderfully warm, energizing, and floral. Best used 2-3 times a week.

Sol de Janeiro Brazillian 4-Play Moisturising Shower Cream-Gel
If you love the scent of Sol's bestselling Brazillian Bum Bum Cream, then you'll automatically love this cheekily named Brazillian 4-Play Shower Cream as it has the same iconic fragrance with notes of Pistachio, Jasmine, and Salted Caramel. The product itself has an interesting shower cream-gel texture which lathers up beautifully and feels so silky and rich on the skin thanks to moisturising ingredients such Coconut Oil, Cupuaçu Butter, and Açaí Oil.

Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Moisturising Body Cream-Cleanser
For an even more moisturising shower experience, dry skin will drink up the delectable Coco Cabana Moisturising Body Cream-Cleanser. Super luxurious and even richer in texture than the Brazillian 4-Play, Coco Cabana shares many of the same skin-friendly ingredients as the above but is enriched further with a unique CocoSugar blend of nourishing Coconut Oil and fermented Sugar that helps to draw more moisture to your skin. And the scent of course is coconut heaven! Think juicy, creamy young Coconuts mixed with tropical Orchids and toasted Praline; a pure sunny paradise fragrance.

Sol de Janeiro Body Washes come in various sizes with refills available for the bigger bottles. Travel sizes, 90ml, are around £10 each. Available from various stockists including Boots and Look Fantastic.

Which one sounds the best to you?

Liz Earle Purify & Refresh Skincare Edit review

Looking for a luxury & cruelty-free skincare gift that delivers some serious savings? Liz Earle's Purify & Refresh Skincare Edit is a bargain at just £34 (worth £85!), and with a saving of £51, you might want to treat yourself to one at the same time as doing your Christmas shopping. We won't tell anyone...

Exclusive to Boots, this six-piece gift set is one of the best value-for-money offerings that I've seen this year from a major retailer. Not only does it contain nearly everything that you need for a full skincare routine (it's only missing a moisturiser), but if you're a Liz Earle devotee, then you can save yourself some cash by purchasing this set and stocking up on your skincare faves.

So what's inside the Liz Earle Purify & Refresh Skincare Edit? Here's a handy overview.

Liz Earle Purify & Refresh Skincare Edit review
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser & 2 Pure Cotton Cloths (full size)
The original hot cloth cleanser and still regarded as one of the best multi-purpose cleansers on the market, Cleanse & Polish is a thick and creamy number that removes all traces of daily dirt, impurities, and makeup including waterproof formulas and long-wearing foundations. I've used it on and off for many years and always like to have one in my skincare stash.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic (full size)
A brilliant alcohol-free toner, Instant Skin Tonic has a lovely gentle formula with extracts of Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Cucumber, Calendula and Vitamin E. It helps to soothe, hydrate, and brighten, so it's perfect for the colder winter months to keep your skin looking healthy and happy.

Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator (travel size)
Use once or twice a week for smoother skin, the Gentle Face Exfoliator does what it says on the tube. I really like this for helping to unclog stubborn blackheads on my nose.

Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion (travel size)
Typically, I personally only tend to use Eyebright during the summer when I have hay fever as it works so well at soothing my irritated eyes. However, it's also very useful for daily use to relieve tired eyes, particularly in the mornings if you have puffy eyes that need some TLC.

Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Clay Mask (full size)
Completing this edit is a full-size Deep Cleansing Clay Mask which is fantastic for oily and combination skin types like mine (but not suitable for sensitive skin). Featuring natural ingredients such as Manuka Honey, Green Clay, Propolis, and Aloe Vera, this thick clay mask draws out impurities within minutes, leaving your complexion looking clearer after just one use.

Liz Earle Purify & Refresh Skincare Edit review
As an extra bonus, there's a voucher where you can get 750 Advantage Card Points when you spend £40 on Liz Earle at Boots. This is the equivalent of £7.50!

Liz Earle Purify & Refresh Skincare Edit retails for £34 and is exclusive to Boots whilst stocks last

Winter Skincare: Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten - Skin Renew Cleansing Oil, Dark Circles Eye Cream & Booster review

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten - Skin Renew Cleansing Oil, Dark Circles Eye Cream & Booster review
Looking for an affordable way to give your Winter Skincare routine a boost? Check out these Vitamin C infused helpers from Super Facialist and banish dull complexions for good!

I don't need to tell any fellow Brits this, but the lack of light that the Northern Hemisphere gets during the winter months can give everything a greyish tinge, including your skin, so you're certainly not alone if you've been feeling that your complexion looks a bit more lacklustre than usual recently.

The good news though is that there's an abundance of Vitamin C infused skincare on the market which can help to brighten and rejuvenate your skin, and when you see the affordable prices from Super Facialist below, these products will brighten your bank balance as well!

I've been testing out the following from Super Facialist's incredibly popular Vitamin C+ Brighten range over the past month, to see what all the hype is about.

Side note: Super Facialist is a cruelty-free brand and although the formulas aren't as natural as some other brands that I feature on here, everything is free from parabens, mineral oils, petrolatum and synthetic colours.

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten - Skin Renew Cleansing Oil, Dark Circles Eye Cream review
Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil* (100ml, £5.50, link)
I love using cleansing oils for removing daily grime and make-up after the end of a long day, so when I saw this award-winning one, I knew I had to try it! Featuring nourishing ingredients such as Sunflower Seed Oil, Olive Fruit Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil and that all-important brightening Vitamin C, Super Facialist's Skin Renew Cleansing Oil has a gorgeous silky texture which transforms into a milky cleanser when water is added to it.

This SLS and alcohol-free Cleansing Oil did an excellent job of removing all traces of impurities and make-up, including long-lasting liquid foundation, though it's important to note that this shouldn't be used to remove eye makeup such as mascara (I'd recommend using a separate micellar water for that job and then going in with this afterwards to use over the rest of your face). My skin felt soft, hydrated and thoroughly clean after rinsing with a flannel and I love the fresh citrusy scent. Available in two sizes, the handy 100ml bottle pictured above is great for travelling with and a good way to try it before purchasing the larger 200ml bottle.

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Dark Circles Eye Cream* (15ml, £14, link)
As someone who has hereditary dark circles, there's little that you can do to change them as it's all down to winning the genetics lottery, unfortunately, but some targeted brightening eye creams can make them look a little less severe which is how I would describe Super Facialist's offering.

This fragrance-free Eye Cream has Vitamin C, Caffeine, a Peptide complex and 'light diffusers' to help brighten up the undereye area, but after using it morning and night for four weeks, I can only say that I've noticed a slight difference. That said, it's great for smoothing out fine lines and provides a good base for applying concealer, so if you're looking for an affordable eye cream that does those, definitely try it. Just don't expect any miracles on the dark circles front.

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Booster review
Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Booster* (15ml, £18, link)
One of the newest releases from Super Facialist is their Vitamin C+ Brighten Booster, a supercharged serum that combines 1% Vitamin C, a naturally derived pro-collagen Vitamin C active and Allantoin, which all work together to deliver some serious glow to dull skin.

The fragrance-free and vegan-friendly formula has been designed to 'boost' your day or night moisturiser (from any brand), by simply adding 2-3 drops directly to the cream and then applying it as usual. This is a particularly useful product for any skincare fan who is on a budget, or for anyone to use during the darker Winter months to give their complexion a brightening helping hand.

I've really enjoyed using this and have tested it out with a couple of different moisturisers, all of which the Booster has worked and blended well with. A little goes a long way and you should see a noticeable difference within a fortnight of applying it on a daily basis.

Shop the full Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten range at your nearest Boots store or online at superfacialist.co.uk

Christmas Gift Guide 2019: Stocking Fillers For Party Girls - Nails Edit
Looking for stocking fillers or secret Santa ideas for that gal in your social circle/office who just can't wait for the biggest party of the year? This special Nails Edit shares some affordable options with everything featured £15 or under!

Christmas Gift Guide 2019: Stocking Fillers For Party Girls - Nails Edit
Leighton Denny Large Crystal Nail File* (£15.50, link)
OK, so I'm cheating a little bit by including this as it's 50p over the £15 mark, however, there is a smaller Crystal Nail File from Leighton Denny that you can pick up for £12.50 if you're sticking to a secret Santa budget! I think this is a good choice for that person who has everything, but who adores manicures and all things nails. It's guaranteed to last a lifetime and has been described as the 'Rolls Royce' of nails files, winning numerous awards, so why not invest in the best?! You can also pick it up from Boots and stock up on your loyalty points - win-win!

Leighton Denny Nail Polish* (£12, link)
A luxury, high-quality nail polish is something that can take pride of place on a makeup junkie's vanity table and with a huge variety of on-trend colours and finishes to choose from, there's something for everyone who loves playing with nail polish. My top pick would be the shade above which is called Fedora from Leighton Denny's new AW 19/20 collection. It's a stunning, rich, warm and muted purple cream that goes with everything. Heads up - M&S have currently got these in on a 3 for 2 offer if you're looking to purchase multiple stocking fillers.

Christmas Gift Guide 2019: Stocking Fillers For Party Girls - Nails Edit
KISS Glam Fantasy & Gel Fantasy Nail Sets* (£7.99 each, link)
You can't beat a set of eye-catching falsies for that all-important NYE party and these ready-to-wear nails can be worn with nail glue or applied with adhesive tabs. There are loads of different designs and shades available in both the Glam Fantasy and Gel Fantasy ranges from KISS, so you'll be simply spoilt for choice! Both ranges have a realistic gel nail effect with an ultra-smooth finish to help you party the night away.

imPRESS Press-On Manicure Sets* (£7.99, link)
If you're looking for a less OTT nail kit, why not try the imPRESS Press-On Manicure Sets? These super easy to apply falsies come in a shorter length which makes them more wearable for most people, and they still offer the benefits of a gorgeous gel nail finish. I really like these for special occasions and they're great for those who aren't too confident at painting their own nails. Like the KISS sets above, these are also currently on offer in Superdrug.

New In Beauty: 4 Summer Products To Try This Month
The sun is shining and it's Friday - yay! There's no better time to dive into a New In Beauty round-up to catch up with some of the latest travel-friendly releases.

Vitage Skin Defence SPF 30
Vitage Skin Defence SPF 30* (100ml, £26, link)

I say it every single year, but sunscreen is the number one skincare essential that you need to be applying every day, so if you only purchase one beauty product all Summer, make it sunscreen! I've been enjoying using this one from Vitage - their Skin Defence SPF 30 protects from both UVA and UVB rays so that you're fully shielded from the harmful effects of the sun. It has a brilliant lightweight formula that leaves the skin nice and matte, and it sits well underneath makeup without pilling or flaking off, plus the 100ml tube will fit perfectly into your hand luggage if you're going abroad this year.

Don't just take my word for it though - it won an Anti-Ageing award from the Beauty Bible and is suitable for all skin types to use, including sensitive. P.S: As with all sunscreens, make sure that you re-apply a generous amount all over every two hours, and straight away after swimming/washing.

Hershesons Almost Everything Cream
Hershesons Almost Everything Cream* (50ml, £10, link)

Hershesons are hair gods - seriously, pop into any of their coveted 'beauty spaces' and you'll be guaranteed to walk out with the best blow dry or hair cut that you've ever had. Needless to say, I've been smitten with their latest product which is available to purchase online if you don't live near one of their stores - the Almost Everything Cream. This multi-purpose cream is a true hair wonder and then some!

Ideal to use on any kind of hair including Afros and beards, this clever multi-tasker tames frizz and flyaways, adds shine, defines curls, deeply conditions and hydrates, gives texture to any style, oh, and it can also be used as a stand-alone hair mask once a week. Pretty impressive, huh? I've tested it on my fine, frizzy hair and it gives me such a beautifully sleek and shiny finish. A tiny amount goes a long way and at just £10 a tube, I can see this being a regular purchase to keep my fussy hair in check, especially in humid weather.

Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork Overnight Face Jelly
Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork Overnight Face Jelly* (50ml, £36, link)

I must admit that I've tried several products from Arbonne in the past which I didn't rate at all, but their new RE9 Advanced Prepwork Overnight Face Jelly has really surprised me. A great product to try if you hate the feeling of heavy, greasy creams or sticky serums, this Face Jelly instead has a light gel texture that absorbs into the skin quickly and doesn't leave any residue sitting on the top.

I find it quite refreshing to use after a hot and humid day of running errands, and with a vegan-friendly formula that's packed with Vitamins C and E, phytonutrients, omegas and ceramides, it delivers an intense shot of moisture and essential nutrition to keep your skin looking and feeling its best. Apply after cleansing in the evenings instead of your usual face cream or oil, or pair it with one of those if you have particularly dry or dehydrated skin.

KISS Lash Couture Faux Mink Collection Lashes in Soir and Muse
KISS Lash Couture Faux Mink Collection Lashes in Soir and Muse* (£11.99 each, link)

Fans of false lashes are in for a treat as KISS have recently brought out these handy new double packs for their hugely popular Lash Couture Faux Mink Collection. Each pack contains two pairs of the same lash design, making it ultra-convenient to have a spare set to take with you on holiday, without taking up loads of space in your handbag.

I'm a big fan of these cruelty-free lashes as they feature a flexible knot-free lash band and I find them a lot easier to apply than some other brands. They also feel lightweight when you're wearing them and you can re-use them up to 10 times (as long as you carefully take them off after each use of course!). Shown above are Soir, a full on, darker and thicker fluttery lash which are perfect for nights out, and Muse, a super pretty, wispy and fluttery style for those who prefer a more natural, but still full lash look.

Which Summer beauty products are you currently enjoying?

Budget Beauty: HASK Charcoal Purifying Shampoo & Conditioner + Unwined Deep Conditioners review

Monday, 8 April 2019

HASK Charcoal Purifying Shampoo & Conditoner + Unwined Deep Conditioners review
Pop into Superdrug, Boots, Waitrose or Morrisons, and you're likely to come across a stand full of HASK products. The affordable cruelty-free haircare brand seems to be everywhere right now and with beauty gurus such as Caroline Hirons singing their praises, it was high time that I properly check out the brand for myself!

I've been trialling HASK's Charcoal Purifying range, alongside the popular Unwined Deep Conditioners to see what all the fuss is about.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Shampoo & Conditoner + Unwined Deep Conditioners review
HASK Charcoal Purifying Shampoo* (355ml, £6.99, link)
Last week, I mentioned the growing trend for anti-pollution skincare, but did you know that it's also catching on in haircare too? HASK's Purifying range features Charcoal, which is naturally derived from Coconut Shells, to get rid of impurities and build-up on your hair and scalp, leaving it thoroughly cleansed and swish-worthy. This shampoo (and the whole range) is also free from Sulphates, Parabens, Phthalates, Gluten, Alcohol and Artificial Colours which makes it suitable for all hair types to use, including coloured and damaged. It has a nice fresh scent thanks to Lemon and Grapefruit Oils, and don't be put off by the Charcoal content - it won't stain your hair! I like to use this just once a week to eliminate product and pollution build-up, but if you live or work in a city, you can use it as your everyday shampoo to prevent your hair from looking dull.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Conditioner* (355ml, £6.99, link)
To complement the shampoo, there's a matching Purifying Conditioner which shares the same scent and a similar formula featuring Charcoal, as the Shampoo. It's relatively thick and smoothes onto the hair easily, where it can be left on for up to two minutes as a regular conditioning treat (it's gentle enough for daily use too). I found that it doesn't weigh down my fine hair and leaves it instantly softer and more manageable.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Deep Conditioner* (50ml, £2.99, link)
For the next level up in hair masks, the Purifying Deep Conditioner offers a super-moisturising and clarifying treatment that's ideal for all hair types. Perfect as a weekly or fortnightly dose of TLC for particularly worn out, damaged and parched tresses, this 10 minute hair treatment is sold in a 50ml sachet and you can easily get up to four uses out of it if you have fine hair like I do (thicker and longer hair will probably still get at least two uses!). A handy one to try if you're going away with just hand luggage.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Shampoo & Conditoner + Unwined Deep Conditioners review
Unwined by HASK Deep Conditioners* (50ml, £3.99 each, link)
HASK have become well known for their Deep Conditioners and their latest range is inspired by popular wines and contains antioxidants derived from grapes (hence the clever pun on the name!). Unwined features four different products, each one bringing its own range of benefits to your hair, and I've been testing out three of them.

The Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir Deep Conditioners are quite similar in my opinion; both are brilliant for helping to deeply nourish and hydrate dry and damaged hair, and they get to work quickly in just 5 minutes so are perfect for those who don't have much pampering time on their hands. My favourite of the three is the Sauvignon Blanc which is infused with Wine Extract, Resveratrol, Grape Seed Oil, Apple Extract and Watermelon Extract, and delivers a lovely glossy shine to lacklustre hair.

Budget Beauty Under £15: Cruelty-Free & Vegan Hair Masks from Noughty and SheaMoisture

Wednesday, 27 March 2019

Cruelty-Free & Vegan Hair Masks under £15 from Noughty and Shea Moisture
It's becoming easier than ever to find cruelty-free and vegan-friendly beauty products on the high street, so I wanted to highlight two of my favourite hair masks that you can pick up for under £15 from your local Boots and Superdrug.

Noughty To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment
Noughty To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment* (300ml, £8.99, link)

Noughty have recently announced that they are now fully certified as cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny (as many of you will know, it's the internationally recognised gold standard in cruelty-free beauty), which is fantastic news! To celebrate, I wanted to mention one of their bestselling products; the To the Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment which has quite literally rescued my hair on numerous occasions.

This thick and creamy hair mask is 97% natural, free from parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates and silicones, and features several nourishing ingredients such as Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Black Oats. It's particularly beneficial for frizzy, dry and damaged hair, so if you're prone to reaching for the bleach and curling tongs a lot, you need to try this ASAP! I love the fact that you can use this as a quick 3-minute job if you're short on time, or you can leave it on for 20 minutes for a seriously intense repairing and hydrating treatment for frazzled tresses.

SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque
SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque* (354ml, £12.99, link)

Finding a hydrating treatment for hair that's dry and fine can often be tricky and if I'm being perfectly honest, I've struggled to find decent ones that don't cost the earth. After trying out lots of different brands, the one that has come out on top for its performance, ethics and affordability is this beauty from SheaMoisture.

Formulated especially for fine, wavy, curly and afro hair types, SheaMoisture's Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque has really perfected the delicate art of balancing essential moisture for dry locks without weighing down fine/thin hair.  This treatment feels wonderfully lightweight and it's brilliant for hydrating and smoothing frizzy tresses and annoying static for an ultra-sleek result. Packed full of Coconut Water, certified organic and fairtrade Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Cocoa Seed Butter, Avocado Oil, Mango Seed Butter, Imbe Oil and fruit extracts, this masque makes my hair much more manageable and easier to style. It's free from sulfates, parabens, phthalates,  paraffin and mineral oil, plus it smells amazing! Find it in your nearest Boots store.

What are your favourite hair masks?

Give Your Feet some TLC this Winter with Dr. Ceuticals

Thursday, 16 November 2017

Give Your Feet some TLC this Winter with Dr. Ceuticals
It's easy to forget about your feet when they're wrapped up in your cosiest pair of fluffy socks, but give them a little some TLC now, and you'll feel a million times more confident when it comes to slipping into your favourite pair of dancing shoes at your next Christmas Party!

I've tried a lot of footcare products over the years, and Dr. Ceuticals is one of those dermatological brands that many people (including myself) repeatedly go back to. They're not a natural brand, as most dermatological brands aren't, but they do have a decent percentage of natural ingredients in their formulas, and the synthetic ingredients are ones that I will happily tolerate on my stubborn to treat feet. Like the rest of my skin, my feet can get really dry very quickly, especially in the colder months, so I've been reaching for this superstar duo to help sort them out this year.

Dr. Ceuticals Pumice Foot Scrub* (150ml, £6.99, link)
This foot scrub is the next best thing if you don't like using things like files or those 'cheese grater' style devices on your feet! It's infused with Pumice to you an intense exfoliation which will remove hard dead skin and any rough patches easily, whilst Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter help to keep things nice and soft at the same time. It has a lovely minty scent thanks to the Peppermint Leaf Oil in the formula and rinses off easily, without any stickiness or residue. Soft, smooth feet in less than five minutes!

Dr. Ceuticals Cracked Heel Repair* (100ml, £9.99, link)
Cracked heels can be incredibly painful, especially if you have a job where you're on your feet all day, but thankfully this Cracked Heel Repair cream gets to work quickly to soothe and soften. Enriched with 25% Urea as it's key ingredient, it also contains Keratin and Shea Butter to deeply moisturise, nourish and help to repair damaged skin, making it soft and supple within just three days. Although the cream feels lightweight, I'd recommend only using a small amount of it as the formula is quite intensive, so a little definitely goes a long way. Like the scrub above, it has a pleasant, fresh Peppermint scent and it's one those products that helps to improve the texture of your feet in the long term. Very handy to have on your nightstand to apply before going to bed each night.

Ted Baker Enchanting Treats Vanity Case Gift Set review
Looking for a new toiletries set to jazz up your summer holiday this year? Ted Baker's latest Porcelain Rose bath and body collection has just launched into Boots and it's a beauty!

Ted Baker's new collection features a whole host of fresh floral scented treats to get you in the mood for Summer, and there are three new fragrance ranges to choose from; Pretty Pearl, Opulent Petal and Blush Pink. Each one has its own products which you can purchase singularly, or if payday is coming up, there are some gorgeous gift sets available including this one which immediately jumped out at me when I first saw the new collection.

Ted Baker Enchanting Treats Vanity Case Gift Set review

The Enchanting Treats Blush Pink Vanity Case Gift Set is based around a beautiful vanity case in a chic and stylish floral print, and has metallic rose gold detailing for some added luxe (the signature Ted Baker bow on the zip is super cute!). Unlike smaller toiletries sets, this vanity case is a very generous size that's perfect for longer holidays as it has loads of space to store your favourite toiletries in. It also looks great sitting pretty on your vanity desk at home - I've already had lots of compliments about it!

Inside the vanity case, you'll also find three full-size products:-
  • Ted Baker Blush Pink Body Wash (200ml)
  • Ted Baker Blush Pink Body Souffle (300ml)
  • Ted Baker Blush Pink Body Spray (150ml)

This Blush Pink range smells amazing with subtle notes of Jasmine and Neroli on a base of Sandalwood, Patchouli and Musk. It's a very floral, feminine and summery scent overall and I think Ted Baker are onto a real winner with this collection!

Ted Baker Enchanting Treats Blush Pink Vanity Case Gift Set* retails for £25 and is available from Boots stores nationwide and online at boots.com

Skincare Review: La Roche-Posay Toleriane 3-Step System
French skincare favourites, La Roche-Posay, have a special range for sensitive skin called Toleriane and back in October they released a new 3-Step System. My skin is often very temperamental and especially during the Winter months, it becomes a lot more sensitive and easily irritated, so I thought I'd try it out.
