The One & Only Make-Up Tag

Wednesday 25 September 2013

I was tagged by the lovely Ana from Anagoesgreen to do the One & Only Tag that's currently circulating on the blogosphere.  It was tough going through my make-up collection and compiling what's essentially an ultimate favourites list, but here we go - these are my final picks to the question "If you could only have one.....what would it be?".

Primer
I don't tend to use primers everyday, but I definitely reach for one if I'm going out at night or it's a special occasion where I need my make-up to stay put.  My one primer of choice would be Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer* which has a special blemish and shine control formula.

Base product
I deliberated for a little while as to whether I should pick a BB cream/tinted moisturiser or a full on foundation.  In the end, I kept it simple and chose my HG Bare Minerals Original Foundation.  It gives a lovely light-medium coverage and doesn't clog my pores.

Concealer
This was hard!  I use so many different concealers on a regular basis that it was nearly impossible to pick just one.  However, Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer* takes home the coveted prize as it's my favourite for correcting undereye circles and without it I look like an extra from The Walking Dead.  Enough said.

Powder
To set my make-up and to get that flawless finish, I always use Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder*.  It requires some touching up throughout the day/night on my oily/combination skin, but once it's one it gives a beautiful almost airbrushed look.

Blush
My HG blusher of all time would probably be a Daniel Sandler Watercolour Liquid Blush*.  These little bottles of amazingness will last you until the end of time and are so easy to apply.

Bronzer
There are a number of bronzers that I rotate between, but let's face it, it was always going to be Benefit Hoola Bronzer wasn't it?  It was the first bronzer I ever purchased and it's still very much a well loved favourite after all this time.

Highlighter
I don't use highlighters that often, but when I do it's usually Benefit Sun Beam which is great for giving the skin a little pick me up, 'glow' to it.

Make-up Brush
So this took all of five seconds to answer - the Real Techniques Buffing Brush of course!  I use it nearly every single day to apply a whole range of different bases.  Mine's a year old and still looking like new.

Eyebrow Product
To fill mine in, I mostly use Essential Care Mineral Eye Liner Pencil in Brown.  I found it slightly disappointing as an actual eyeliner (though it's still OK for a subtle smokey eye), but oddly enough I found it lasted a lot longer and better on my brows instead.

Eyeshadow Single
Yeah I so wanted to cheat and pick a palette for this one!  Instead I picked Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze.  Insanely easy to wear, I just blend it over my eyelids with my finger and I'm good to go with zero creasing.

Eyeliner
My favourite is still Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl Eyeliner, such an amazing product for a budget friendly price, and one that I'd say rivals the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners in a heartbeat.

Mascara
I've lost count of how many mascaras I've ever tried out, but it's been a lot and yet I still haven't found my ultimate HG.  So coming in at a close second place, I'm going to say Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara.

Lipstick
It was a toss up between Modesty and Shy Girl, but MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Shy Girl wins simply because it's the one I wear the most often.  Love this everyday, neutral friendly shade so damn much!

Lip Balm
I own an enormous amount of lip balms so having to whittle it down to one was difficult.  After some pondering, I chose Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm For Lips*.  This baby hydrates my lips like no other and I know I'll be using it constantly when the weather gets colder.

Nail polish
Just one nail polish, are you serious?!  Maybe it's because we're heading into A/W but I decided to pick Zoya Nail Lacquer in Petra, a beautiful creme dusky purpley grey.

Let me know if you do this tag - would love to see what your one and onlys are!

    1. It's a fantastic corrector for undereye circles - I need to use an extra 'illuminating' style concealer over the top to properly cover mine but that's only because they're particularly bad. Most can just get away with using it on its own x
