NOTD Swatches: New B. Quick One Coat Professional Finish Nail Polishes in Gervase and Truffle

Tuesday 15 April 2014

Bucking the usual Spring trend for pastel shades, B. have added two new shades to their Quick One Coat Professional Finish range which are dark, vampy and edgy.

First impressions - you might be thinking both of these nail polishes look identical but they have different hues as you'll see below.  I haven't tried the Quick One Coat polishes before, so I was surprised by the wider than average brush and thick formula.  They're a little tricky to apply at first, but I'd recommend doing two thin coats instead of one thick coat to get an even colour and finish on the nails.  Once on, I found them to last around 3 days before chipping without a top coat on, so it's likely you could probably stretch this out further with one.  Like the rest of the B. makeup range, these nail polishes are vegetarian and vegan friendly, plus they're BUAV cruelty free approved too.
Gervase is one of those 'almost-black-but-not' shades that I absolutely adore.  It's deeply rich and has a dark red undertone like a full bodied red wine.  Vamp-tastic and insanely glossy to boot - I didn't need a topcoat with this.  This polish benefits from a two thin coats application as I find these shades a little troublesome to apply.  Heads up, you'll need a good base coat under this to prevent staining, but the colour is gorgeous isn't it?
Truffle is another almost-black-but-not colour, which features an earthy brown undertone combined with a slight tinge of yellow.  It's more attractive on the nails than how it sounds, but perhaps is one I'd save for wearing in the Winter months.  You can almost get away with one coat of this, though I like to two out of habit.

B. Quick One Coat Professional Finish Nail Polishes* are currently half-price exclusively at Superdrug, both instores and online.  This makes them only £2.49 a pop! (Usually £4.99)

  2. Oh damn! Gervase is such a sexy and deep shade! I'd totally wear that with an all white or black outfit! I used to wear lots of deep almost black shades but haven't recently!
