Joliebox - December

Thursday, 29 December 2011

Photobucket

It's finally here, my Joliebox arrived today! As a regular subscriber to Boudoir Prive, I was really excited to hear about their merger with Joliebox, the bestselling beauty box in France and to see what they would come up with for their special launch/Christmas box. Unfortunately my Joliebox seems to have gotten lost by Royal Mail (the post has been particularly dreadful in my area, the same thing happened with my Glossybox, so annoying!), so Joliebox dispatched a replacement box straight away. Although I'd already seen the contents of the box from other blog posts, I was still excited to open it and unwrap the goodies.

As you can see, the box is still wrapped beautifully and has now changed over to a sleek and chic black box with white tissue paper. The contents leaflet has also changed to a luxe feeling menu layout on textured paper. Out of all of the beauty boxes that I sub to, I think the new Joliebox is the most well designed in terms of class and elegance. It just screams luxe and high-end to me.

This launch box is filled to the brim, with an additional two bonus items included. Certainly impressive. Here are the contents:-

Photobucket

(1) OPI Gold Shatter Nail Lacquer, full size - WOW. Being a nail polish junkie, I already have this, but I can certainly appreciate that most people will find this the standout product in the box. When I first heard people squeeing over this on Twitter, I was convinced that it must have been a mini size given that Glossybox had a mini OPI polish a couple of months ago, but no, Joliebox included a FULL size. I think this gold shatter polish looks great over black nails.

(2) Mitchell and Peach Shower wash, 50ml travel size - "an invigorating shower wash containing natural English honey, Vitamin E and wheat proteins." Not a brand I've heard of before, but happy to be introduced to as this features 100% natural fragrance and uses pure essential oils from a family run Kent farm. It smells fresh and the packaging makes it look like its from an expensive hotel.

(3) New CID Cosmetics i-gloss in Coconut Ice, full size - Like the New CID lipstick that I received in a Carmine box, this lipgloss has the same light up gimmick. The gloss is a very pretty and wearable everyday nude with a touch of shimmer which I love.

(4) Jane Iredale 24 Karat Gold Dust Shimmer Powder in Rose Gold, full size - "a multi-use shimmer powder to apply to cheeks, eyes, lips, body and even hair, contains real 24 karat gold flakes." You don't get much more high end than a product which has gold in it do you?! I can't wait to play with this because Jane Iredale are a brand which I've been wanting to try out for like forever (they're cruelty-free, mostly natural, paraben free etc). Swatched above with the New CID lip gloss.

(5) Yon-Ka Vital Defense Anti-Aging Cream, 5ml sample - "anti-aging prevention, antioxidant and anti-pollution cream to help the skin preserve its youthfulness." Although I find anti-aging creams as exciting as watching paint dry, I do like the sound of this being like a 'shield' against pollution, so I'll probably put it to the test next time I'm in London.

(6) Joliebox Concealer Brush, travel size - like everything else in this box, this little brush feels really high-end and hasn't shed at all, impressed! Definitely another addition to my travel bag.

Photobucket

(7) Kusmi Detox Tea, - "a delicious blend of Mate, chinese Green Tea and lemon grass full flavoured with lemon." This smells gorgeous, can't wait to try it. I love, love, love teas like this and the packaging is so beautiful and it's good for you too, what more could you ask for?

Summary: Out of all of the Christmas beauty boxes, Joliebox definitely wins in my opinion. I am so pleased with this box and really hope that it's not a fabulous one-off. Given the fact that I've loved all of the previous Boudoir Prive boxes, I don't think it will be and looking on the French Joliebox website tells me that these boxes really do have the edge, if you're looking for a beauty box which has luxe/high-end products.

Boudoir Prive - November 2011

Photobucket

Finally managed to rescue my Boudoir Prive box from Royal Mail, so here's what was in my November box:-

Photobucket

(1) Dead Sea Spa Magik Silky Smooth Body Lotion, 50ml travel size (full size 350ml - £7.70) - "this creamy and silky body lotion will leave your skin feeling deeply hydrated and nourished. It aims to improve elasticity whilst soothing and preventing dryness." This has a nice clean scent to it and does what it promises to do, a simple yet effective body lotion.

Photobucket

(2) Korres Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisturiser, 10ml sample (full size 40ml - £19) - "a 24 hour moisturising and brightening cream. The Wild Rose oil is a natural source of vitamin C and helps repair fine lines and uneven skintone." I have seen lots of great reviews for this and I've loved everything I've tried from Korres so this is a great sample for me to try before considering to buy the full size pot.

Photobucket

(3) Rahua Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner, 2 x 10ml sachets & 2 x 8ml sachets (full size 275ml - £27/£28.50) - "create thick, glossy and bouncy hair with this 100% natural voluminous shampoo and conditioner. The lemongrass and green tea remove excess oils from the hair, whilst jojoba adds moisture and nourishment." Interested to try these, they sound amazing. I haven't had the best experiences with all natural haircare in the past so I'm hoping these will work for me.

Photobucket

(4) Vinies Ayurveda's Soul Luminous Skin Mask, 2 x 15g sample pots (full size 40g - £32.85) - "as featured on vogue.co.uk, enhance your complexion with gentle exfoliating and natural skin brightening ingredients to keep your skin glowing all day." I know what you're thinking and I thought it too, it's not the most appealing product I've seen! Erm yeah.... it smells really weird too. I'll try it, luckily you only need to leave it on for 3-5 mins!

(5) Studiomakeup Rich Hydration Lipstick in Tender Pink, full size (£12.25) - Not really my colour, but if you like nicely pigmented frosty pinks then you'll probably love this. The packaging is very sleek and has a cute click mechanism.

Summary: I know a lot of people don't like Boudoir Prive, but for me personally I really like them, especially the general quality of the items included. They always have products in their boxes that I want to try and will use, and I'm SO happy that this box doesn't have perfume samples in it!

Boudoir Prive - October 2011

Photobucket

Two beauty boxes arriving in the same day, what a great way to begin the weekend! Here's what I received in this month's Boudoir Prive box.

Photobucket

(1) Rose & Co Rose Petal Salve, full size (£5) - "soothes chapped lips and dry skin." The product is 20g, a huge tin! This is a multi-purpose salve with a subtle rose scent to it. You can use this on lips, dry bits, to tame brows etc but I'll probably just use it as a lip balm as I tend to use Lush's Lemony Flutter for everything else. I like this a lot, the packaging is very cute and it looks like it will last for a long time.

(2) Studiomakeup Liner Styler Pen in Black, full size (£12) - "long lasting and crease-proof line, easy to create a thin or thick stroke and can be removed with water." I've not heard of this brand before and the product reminds me of Bourjois' Liner Feutre, but with a much finer tip. It's seems more smudgy than Liner Feutre from swatching it on my hand, but I'll try it on my eyes and see how I get on with it.

Photobucket

(3) Korres Body Butter in Quince, 50ml sample (full size 150ml - £12.50) - "extremely rich and soothing cream for dry and chapped skin". I LOVE Korres and their body butters are fantastic. I've never tried this one before and it has a pleasant scent to it, though I think the Guava one that also got sent out is nicer. Very pleased to receive this anyhow :)

Photobucket

(4) Memo Paris Les Eschappes Eau De Parfum, 5ml sample (full size 30ml - £69). Eurgh, another perfume sample! Honestly, does anyone like these? Wouldn't you prefer to receive something else?!

Photobucket

(5) Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme, 25ml sample (full size 95ml - £24) - "a pre-shampoo conditioner that will soften and nourish dry and damaged hair. Uses only natural ingredients, delicate aromas and plant extracts." I am intrigued to try this out. I love hair treatments, especially more natural ones, so I will be using this asap.

Photobucket

(6) Cetuem Illuminating Mask, 5ml sample (full size 50g - £25) and Cetuem Creme de Lite, 5ml sample (full size 50ml - £45) - "listed as one of the top 100 beauty brands by Harpers Bazaar, uses natural plant and marine extracts." Yes, another face mask! I'm interested to see what these are like.

Summary: Pretty much happy with everything! A lot of products that I'm excited to try out and I'm pleased that there are some more natural based ones included. Like GB this month, I'll be using everything other than the perfume sample :)

September favourites

Saturday, 1 October 2011

Photobucket

It hardly feels like September has passed, what with this glorious HOT weather we're having at the moment, but here are my five favourites for last month:-

(1) Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment - The ends/lengths of my hair often can feel quite dry so I'm a bit of a hair oil fiend. Macadamia Oil is virtually the same as Moroccan Oil in terms of them both being an amazing treatment for the hair and helping to repair damage. The only difference I can find between the two is that Moroccan Oil smells slightly stronger than Macadamia Oil (both smell quite similar anyway), but it really is just a tiny difference. I received this 10ml sample bottle in my Boudoir Prive box and I simply love it!

(2) Myface Mymix Foundation - I've been using this quite a bit this month, review and swatches here.

(3) Tropic Skincare Body Smooth Refreshing Polish
- Another lovely new favourite that Boudoir Prive have introduced me to. I'm going to have to save up to get a full size pot of this! Mentioned in my monthly empties.

(4) Zoya nail polish in Jem - Boudoir Prive have really impressed me, this is my third new favourite item from this month's box. I've been wearing this ever since I received it. NOTD here.

(5) Barry M nail polish in 292 Navy - Probably my go-to Barry M favourite for autumn colours, I never get bored of this. Used as the base for my galaxy nails here.
