Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - May 2022 review

Last month I made a mistake in saying that the LoveLula Beauty subscription boxes were ending, when in fact it's this May box which is the last one - oops! However, what I did say remains true and unfortunately LoveLula has now discontinued the subscription boxes, due to Covid and Brexit factors which are making it difficult to obtain large quantities of fresh products in a timely manner. 

Don't worry though - there are brand new themed beauty boxes coming from LoveLula soon which will be available to purchase on an ad hoc, one-off basis throughout the year so keep your eyes peeled!

I've tried a couple of things from PHB Ethical Beauty and really like their natural and organic formulas. This soothing moisturiser helps to restore harmony to your skin, whilst nourishing it and boosting radiance. The rebalancing formula also helps to protect against environmental damage and is perfect for oily skin that's prone to acne and blemishes. With summer on its way where I find my combination skin tends to get much oilier at this time of the year, this sounds like the ideal moisturiser for me!

Inika Certified Organic Matte Perfection Primer

A makeup prepping classic in the green beauty world, Inika's bestselling Certified Organic Matte Perfection Primer has been a staple in my makeup bag for many years so I'm thrilled to have another one to add to my stash. It has a lovely lightweight formula that sinks into the skin without clogging pores, and allows your makeup to glide effortlessly over the top for a flawless finish.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum

Made from 100% organic natural ingredients, this little beauty gem from Balm Balm is a miracle serum for people who might not already be used to having a serum in their skincare routines. In our ever-changing world, it's always quite sad to see something come to an end that's been with us for so long, and I'm afraid to say that April's LoveLula beauty box is the very last one. 

However, green beauty fans, there's no need to fret! Instead of a regular monthly subscription box, LoveLula are going to be releasing a series of edited one-off boxes throughout the year instead, so you can still get your beauty fix from them and I'll still be sharing their contents with you all on here. 

But for now, let's take a look at the last LoveLula monthly box which is worth £50.

PHB Ethical Beauty Lavender Hero Gel

You guys know how much I love a good multi-purpose product and with summer literally around the corner, PHB Ethical Beauty's Lavender Hero Gel will be your personal hero all summer long (and beyond!). Currently Loving: Organic Works Daily Hydration Bergamot Range - Body Lotion & Shower Gel review

 

Spring is well and truly on its way, so why not add a fresh burst of sunshine into your bathroom with these everyday beauty treats from Organic Works?

Whenever I'm stocking up on my daily toiletries; I always try to choose products that reflect the seasons. As we finally head into spring after what seems like such a long winter, I've been finding myself opting for beautifully fresh and reviving scents that will help me to put a spring back into my step (pun entirely intended!). 

Top of my shopping list is Organic Works' gorgeous Bergamot range.

Organic Works are a Scottish brand that I was first introduced to through the LoveLula Beauty Boxes where they pop up every now and again (in fact, one of their Night Creams was sent in last month's box). This cruelty-free natural brand has a simple set of products that encompass skincare essentials and a handful of lovely hand washes, body lotions, and shower gels, the latter of which I'd like to mention because they really are top quality for the asking price.

Madara SOS Hydra Mask

Winter skin always requires a bit more TLC than normal, so treat yours to this gorgeous SOS Hydra Mask from Madara. The silky oil magically transforms into a gentle milky texture once a little water is added for a beautifully luxurious facial experience. 

Soul Tree Lipstick

Next up, there's a gorgeous Lipstick from Ayurvedic natural brand, Soul Tree. Not only is the packaging simply chic and stunning, but the lipstick is crafted from a blend of Organic Ghee and Almond Oil to keep lips soft and moisturised during the cold winter months. The shade I received is called Wild Honey and I'll be doing a separate review and swatch of this shortly so keep your eyes peeled.

Ayumi Turmeric Body Scrub and Body Lotion

October Empties: Products I've Used Up

 

Better late than never as always! Here are my recent beauty Empties; all the products that I've managed to use up last month - do you spot any of your own faves in this round-up?

Ben & Anna Natural Deodorant in Persian Lime* (reviewed here)

Featured in my Plastic Free July post earlier this year, I've thoroughly enjoyed using this zesty and uplifting natural deodorant in Persian Lime from Ben & Anna. It kept me smelling lovely and fresh all day long and comes packaged in a recyclable card tube. Repurchase? Yes.

Dr. Konopka's Multi Purpose Cream* (reviewed here)

I've used up a couple of these over the years and still love it - a gentle but effective cream that you can use everywhere and anywhere to instantly soothe, soften, and moisturise dry skin. Particularly useful for hands and feet, and has a fruity pleasant fragrance. Repurchase? Will do once I've used up some similar products first.

Antipodes Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream* (reviewed here)

One of my favourite new skincare releases of 2021, this night cream is perfect for virtually all skin types and has a beautiful light gel-cream texture that sinks in straight away. Packed full of probiotics and Hyaluronic Acid to nourish without any greasy/sticky feeling afterwards. Repurchase? Definitely.

Hurraw! Pitta Lip Balm* (reviewed here)

I discovered this in a LoveLula Beauty Box, and despite having used many Hurraw! Lip Balms in the past, I wasn't previously aware of their Ayurvedic inspired range. Pitta is a mix of Coconut, Mint and Lemongrass so it's a good one to try for Summer as it's cooling and refreshing. Repurchase? I have a million lip balms to use up but I'm sure I will come back to this range at some point!

Dafna's Purify Cleanser* (reviewed here)

Another skincare favourite that I've used on/off over the years is Dafna's amazing Purify Cleanser. If my skin is feeling oily and congested, this is the cleanser that I'll often reach for to help balance it out. It's quite pricey but luckily a little goes a long way. Repurchase? Will do next Summer.

Mádara Hyaluronic Collagen Booster Ampoules* (reviewed here)

Every now and then, my skin goes through a really rough dry patch which is usually linked to the change of season so I like to add a course of these booster ampoules into my evening routine. They specifically target dryness and irritation and they get to work instantly so you'll see results immediately - ideal if you have a big event coming up. Repurchase? I'm torn about whether I should repurchase these because they're single-use plastic, but they work SO well and I only use a pack once or twice a year. I'll have to think about it!

Isla Apothecary Renewing Foot Treatment*

My last empty is a luxury treat for your feet from Isla Apothecary. This is a proper pampering product that's made from a blend of Epsom Salts, Coconut Oil and the most gorgeous selection of uplifting essential oils. Amazing for restoring tired feet and perfect for a little 'me time' at the end of a busy week. Repurchase? On my Christmas list ;)

Oils Of Heaven Face Oils range as they have something for everyone and are brilliant for those who have skin allergies as each face oil is based on just one superstar ingredient. Case in point, this Organic Baobab Face Oil is rich in Omega fatty acids for beautiful, healthy skin and absorbs quickly without clogging pores. 

Greenfrog Botanic Shampoo Bar 

Moving onto haircare, zero waste fans will love this clever Argan and Rose Oil Shampoo Bar from Greenfrog Botanic. Formulated with 96% natural ingredients, it also contains Aloe Vera to keep hair hydrated throughout the colder months ahead, and this solid bar format is an easy way to cut down on your personal plastic waste as each bar replaces up to three plastic bottles of shampoo.
