I'm a big fan of the natural Ayurvedic-inspired brand, Urban Veda, and this Purifying Body Oil has actually been on my beauty wishlist for some time, so I'm thrilled to discover it in the box! With lots of gorgeous uplifting essential oils such as Organic Neem, Gotu Kola and Witch Hazel, this body oil has been formulated to purify and energise the skin.

INIKA Bold Lash Mascara
INIKA Bold Lash Mascara

Last month, LoveLula included the famous INIKA Certified Organic Matte Perfection Primer, and this month there's the bestselling Bold Lash Mascara that subscribers can try out. I've used this mascara many times over the years as it's one of the best on the market if you're looking for something that's both natural and organic. The large brush helps to create big lashes without any clumping or flaking.

Last, but not least, there's a full-size bottle of Organic Works Pro Smoothing Serum, which certainly sounds promising. Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - September 2020 review

Wednesday, 23 September 2020

LoveLula's latest Beauty Box is crammed full of green beauty goodies and with a total value of over £60, it's a bargain too! This month's box features mainly skincare with a little makeup, and everything is happily cruelty-free.

Here's what's inside:-

AYUMI Glow Tumeric & Papaya Glycolic Acid Toner (RRP £6.99)
This budget-friendly facial toner from AYUMI is inspired by Ayurveda and includes a special blend of proven plant-based actives and natural ingredients to help you get your glow back. Infused with brightening extracts of Tumeric, Amla and Papaya, plus soothing Aloe Vera, it uses natural Glycolic Acid to gently remove dull and dead skin cells on the surface to reveal brighter and younger-looking skin underneath. An easy addition to your daily morning or evening skincare routine!

Dr Botanicals Hemp Moisturiser (RRP £15.99)
With two hard-working key ingredients of Hemp Seed Oil and Cocoa Butter, Dr Botanicals Hemp Moisturiser is a simple but effective product to help your skin feel hydrated and smooth all day long. I love Hemp-based products like this as I find it works so well for sensitive skin like mine, so I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Madara Smart Anti-Pollution Charcoal & Mud Repair Mask (travel size)
Oh, I was very happy to see this! I'm a huge fan of using charcoal and clay-based face masks to keep spots and breakouts at bay, and I've used this one from Madara in the past with great results. If you feel that your skin is congested and feels 'bumpy' underneath the surface, this facial treatment will help to draw everything out in just 5 minutes. Highly recommended for 'maskne' too!

INIKA Mineral Mattifying Powder (RRP £23)
If you read last month's LoveLula Beauty box review, you'll know that they included a primer from INIKA and this month sees another fantastic full-size makeup product from the luxury Australian brand - a Mineral Mattifying Powder. This translucent loose powder provides a naturally matte finish to your makeup look and can be used over the top of any foundation, regardless of whether it's a liquid or mineral powder.

Urban Veda Reviving Renewal Night Cream (travel size)
Finally, the last product is a travel size sample of Urban Veda Reviving Renewal Night Cream which helps to replenish and hydrate most skin types with natural ingredients that include Rose extract, Organic Pomegranate and Rosehip.

LoveLula Beauty Box - July 2020
Worth £46, LoveLula's latest Beauty Box is packed full of green beauty essentials and features brands such as The Castilian Soap Company, Balm Balm, Laidbare and Urban Veda. Here's what's inside July's box!

The Castilian Soap Company - Limited Edition Natural Castile Soap with Tea Tree
The Castilian Soap Company - Limited Edition Natural Castile Soap with Tea Tree (RRP £8)
Made from an organic castile soap base and high-quality natural vegetable oils, this larger Limited Edition size bottle from The Castilian Soap Company can be used on the face and body as a gentle purifying cleanser, and I've also used this to wash my makeup brushes with great results! Blended with Tea Tree Oil for additional natural antiseptic properties, it's a multi-purpose must-have.

Balm Balm Rose Floral Water Hydrosol
Balm Balm Rose Floral Water Hydrosol (RRP £8.50)
I love the simplicity of a good rosewater toner mist and this Rose Floral Water Hydrosol from Balm Balm is a gorgeous product to spritz onto the skin, either as part of your skincare routine or throughout the day whenever you feel your skin needs a bit of a pick me up. It smells beautiful and I love that it's packaged in glass.

Laidbare Butter Me Up Organic Shea Body Butter (RRP £10)
I remember when this product was sold in big tubs many years ago - you can check out an old review here! Laidbare's Butter Me Up Organic Shea Body Butter is brilliant for dry skin thanks to a super-rich formula which boasts natural nourishing ingredients such as Shea Butter and Avocado Oil. I think I'll be saving this for Winter!

Urban Veda Sandalwood Soothing Clarifying Night Cream
Urban Veda Sandalwood Soothing Clarifying Night Cream* (RRP £19.99)
The last product in this month's LoveLula Beauty Box is a full-size Night Cream from the Ayurvedic inspired natural skincare brand Urban Veda. This Sandalwood Soothing Clarifying Night Cream is the perfect treat for skin that needs some help as it deeply moisturises, plumps, renews and repairs the complexion overnight for smoother and softer skin come the morning. It sounds ideal for my skin type so I'm excited to give it a go!

Beauty Box: LoveLula Beauty Box - September 2019 review

Thursday, 26 September 2019

LoveLula Beauty Box - September 2019 review
This month is just flying by - it's time again for a look at the latest LoveLula beauty box! September's edit of cruelty-free, natural and organic products is worth £65, so let's check out what's inside.

Kathleen Natural Tranquil Fields Bubble Bath (full size, RRP £18)
It's that time of the year when I want to start reaching for the bath products again and I was pleased to see this one from Kathleen Natural in the box. I've used their gorgeous Body Oil in the same Tranquil Fields scent in the past and adored it. Perfect for a relaxing evening at home to unwind from a busy day.

Madara Infusion Vert Body Cream (full size, RRP £17)
Having dry skin means that I always appreciate receiving a body cream, especially a full-size, luxury one from Madara! Their Infusion Vert Body Cream is a seriously rich and pampering moisturiser which helps to rejuvenate and restore elasticity, leaving your skin softer, smoother and more supple overall. This will definitely come in handy as the colder weather sets in.

Emani Organic Soy Mascara in Midnight (full size, RRP £18)
For makeup this month, there's a full-size luxury mascara from Emani, a brand that I've been meaning to try for a long time. Featuring a vegan-friendly, soy-infused formula, this mascara acts as both a mascara and a lash treatment and promises to be smudge-proof which is ideal for sensitive eyes including contact lens wearers.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Cleanser (deluxe travel size 30ml, RRP £12)
A new release from Balm Balm's bestselling Little Miracle range, this is a nourishing cleansing oil which effectively removes all traces of makeup and dirt, without stripping the skin. Instead, it leaves your complexion soft and perfectly clean - I've tried it twice so far and love it!

Urban Veda Reviving Body Wash (sample sachet)
As an extra bonus, LoveLula have included an assorted sample sachet from Urban Veda and I received the Reviving Body Wash which smells lovely - very fresh and floral.

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - November 2018 review

Thursday, 22 November 2018

Worth a whopping £66, this month's LoveLula Beauty Box is another treat for organic and natural skincare lovers, although I suspect that one product, in particular, may raise a few eyebrows! Here's what's inside.

The Perfect V Gentle Exfoliator
The Perfect V Gentle Exfoliator (RRP £31)
They say that there's a product and a consumer market for absolutely everyone out there, however niche, and if you're someone who likes to look after your 'V' (and yes, we're talking about the bikini area down there), The Perfect V is the brand for you. Their luxury range of gentle products have been dermatologist & gynaecologist tested, and are designed to rejuvenate, enhance, and beautify 'The V'. Free from fragrance, SLS, parabens and pH balanced, this Gentle Exfoliator will help to prep the skin and prevent ingrown hairs and redness. Not for you? Try it as a body exfoliator instead - it works just as well!

Alteya Organics Rosehip Seed Nourishing Face Oil
Alteya Organics Rosehip Seed Nourishing Face Oil (RRP £8.75)
I recently featured Alteya Organics in my Introducing series (you can read that post here if you missed it), so I was very pleased to be able to try out another one of their products because I've been loving their Rose Otto range so much. The Rosehip Seed Nourishing Face Oil is a straight-up, 100% certified organic, cold-pressed Rosehip Oil. Rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, it's a brilliant facial oil for anti-ageing, hydrating and softening the skin, and a particularly good one to use during the colder weather if your face is feeling on the dry side.

Urban Veda Purifying Exfoliating Facial Polish
Urban Veda Purifying Exfoliating Facial Polish (RRP £9.99)
Unfortunately, I've tried this product as a sample in the past and found it too harsh for my sometimes sensitive skin, so I'll be passing this onto my sister to try instead. If your skin is oilier than mine and is more tolerant of certain astringent ingredients, this may work for you, though I do personally find Urban Veda's skincare to be a bit hit or miss. Their body care products are lovely though!

REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask
REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask (travel size)
Regular readers will know that I'm a big fan of REN's Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask and I always have a full size of it in my skincare stash. I've been using it for years and it's such a fantastic treatment that's packed full of fruit acid enzymes which help to remove dull dead skin cells and improve skin tone, leaving your complexion looking younger and brighter.

Natura Siberica Oblepikha Hand Cream
Natura Siberica Oblepikha Hand Cream (travel size)
I'm thrilled that LoveLula has started stocking Natura Siberica and this hand cream is definitely a must-try from their huge range! It smells amazing and has such a wonderful nourishing and comforting formula. If your hands are in need of some daily TLC, apply this before going to bed and they will be as soft as a baby's bum in no time at all!

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - February 2018 review

Thursday, 22 February 2018

LoveLula Beauty Box - February 2018 review
LoveLula have a real treat in store for their beauty box subscribers this month, as February's edition is an all skincare lineup that's worth £65!

Inside the box, you'll find four products, three of which are full-size:-

Urban Veda Radiance Hydrating Toner (full size, RRP £12.99)
Designed to naturally brighten, balance and even skin tone, this toner is from Urban Veda's popular Radiance range and contains a blend of Ayurvedic herbs and botanicals which the brand is well known for. I've used some Urban Veda products in the past and always find them a little hit or miss due to the ingredients that they use. I was disappointed to see that this toner contains Alcohol Denat as its third ingredient, as I find that too drying for my skin so won't be able to personally use it. However, if your skin is more tolerant, then this could be a great toner for you to try out.

Madara Exfoliating Oil-To Milk Scrub (full size, £24)
Moving onto something that I do absolutely love, and that's this gorgeous Madara scrub! I've been using this on and off for a while now (you can read my original review of it here), so I'm really happy to have a full-size back up for my skincare stash as you can never have too many exfoliators, am I right?! This facial scrub has an interesting oil-to-milk formula and magically transforms into a rich milky texture when water is added. It has lots of tiny non-abrasive natural scrubby bits to buff away dull dead skin cells and unclog pores, but it always feels very gentle so it's a fantastic exfoliator for anyone who has sensitive skin or wants to use a manual scrub on a more regular basis.

LoveLula Beauty Box - February 2018 reviewOoh! Organic Avocado Hydrating Face Oil (full size, RRP £19)
I've had the pleasure of trying out many of the face oils from Ooh!, but this is the first time that I've used their Avocado Hydrating Face Oil. The scent of it is a little off-putting I'm not gonna lie - this is quite a stinky oil and I can't exactly pinpoint what it smells like. Luckily though, my nose is getting used to it and I'm loving the moisturising benefits! This is an excellent high-quality, cold-pressed organic oil that's packed full of fatty acids and vitamins to give a real boost to your skin. I particularly like using this after a detoxing clay face mask to replenish moisture levels, but it's just as nice to use a few drops as the last step in your regular evening skincare routine.

Pure & Light Essential Face Cream (15ml travel size, full size retails for £34)
The last product in this month's Love Lula box is actually something that I've currently been testing out the full size of, so I'm going to gloss over this one and make you all wait for the proper review which will be up shortly - sorry! Spoiler alert though: it's really good ;)

Unboxing: LoveLula Beauty Box - December 2017 review

Monday, 18 December 2017

LoveLula Beauty Box - December 2017 review
December's LoveLula Beauty box arrived last week, and although it's not Christmas themed like a lot of the other boxes around at the moment, it does have a nice mix of Winter-friendly skincare and party-ready makeup in it!

This month's box boasts three full-size products and is worth a whopping £58, so shall we see what's inside?

LoveLula Beauty Box - December 2017 review
Madara SOS Instant Moisture + Radiance Mask (full size, RRP £35)
Madara are a regular feature in the LoveLula beauty boxes and they're one of my favourite natural and organic skincare brands. For December's box, they've included a full-size SOS Instant Moisture + Radiance Mask which is absolutely perfect for the colder Winter months. This hydrating mask has been scientifically proven to rehydrate skin and can be used by all skin types whenever your complexion needs a moisture boost. You can leave it on for 20 minutes and wipe it off, or for a more intensive treatment (which is especially useful if you have dry skin), you can leave it on overnight. I've used this mask in the past and it always makes my skin feel amazing; so soft and plumped up every time!

PHB Natural & Organic Lip Crayon in Peach (full size, RRP £8.95)
Makeup fans will love the fact that there's not one, but two makeup products in this month's box, both of which are from PHB. The first one that I tried out was the Lip Crayon which comes in the shade Peach. It's a much brighter shade than what I expected for this time of the year, but if you're not into the typical reds and berry colours of the season, Peach is a lovely alternative. I've worn it twice since it arrived and I quite like it - it works best when applied all over the lips as it has a little bit of golden shimmer to it. Goes on smoothly and feels very comfortable on the lips which is a must during Winter.

Mossa Skin Perfector 5-in1 BB in Soft Beige (sample)
There's been a big buzz around Mossa (Madara's little sister company who are also more affordable - yay!) in the green beauty world lately, so I was very pleased to see a sample of their Skin Perfector BB cream. I haven't used a BB since Summer, but I felt compelled to try this over the weekend and I really like it! It has a typical sheer/very light tinted coverage with a mattifying finish, and it looks very natural - like your skin, but better. It did oxidise a little on me though, so I'm going to pick up a few more samples to test it out further to see if it still does this with a primer underneath or not.

LoveLula Beauty Box - December 2017 review
Dr. Hauschka Hydrating Cream Mask (sample)
Next up, I found another sample, this time from Dr. Hauschka and their newly reformulated Hydrating Cream Mask. I haven't tried the original formula so I can't compare this new one against that I'm afraid, but I can say that my skin loved this mask. It gives the skin a serious hydration boost in just 20 minutes and is easily removed with a warm face cloth/flannel afterwards. I'll definitely be looking into the buying the full-size of this at some point!

PHB Natural Liquid Eye Liner in Black (full-size, RRP £12.95)
This is the first time that I've tried a 100% natural liquid eyeliner and I have to admit that this one from PHB is very hit and miss. Starting with the positives though, I like the packaging as the skinny flexible applicator makes it easy to draw a precise thin line, and the formula is neither too thin or thick in consistency - it's just right. It's suitable for vegans and doesn't contain any of the potential 'nasties' that can irritate sensitive eyes, so if your eyes water or go red whenever you use mainstream eyeliners, this is definitely one to try. The liner is also incredibly easy to remove and doesn't require heavy duty eye makeup removers to take it off at the end of the day.

The not so good points then? Well, the pigmentation isn't the best and although it's in the shade called 'True Black', it's not as richly pigmented and black as most of my other non-natural eyeliners are. This means that you need to layer it if you want to achieve a thicker line or a bolder look. It also takes forever to fully dry - I'm talking a good 5 minutes or so of not blinking/moving/doing anything else, unless you set it with a little black eyeshadow powder which is what I've had to resort to doing to make this workable. And that waterproof claim? Absolutely not - I got caught in the rain with this on at the weekend and immediately turned into a panda - not a good look! That said, some of the pros definitely outweigh the cons, and if my eyes are feeling sensitive, I'll probably still reach for this, but I'll definitely make sure to set it with eyeshadow (and check the weather forecast first!).

Urban Veda Skincare (samples)
The final items that I discovered at the bottom of the box were three skincare samples from Urban Veda; Reviving Facial Oil, Purifying Protecting Night Cream and Reviving Day Cream. Only the Purifying one is for my skin type, unfortunately, so I'll be passing the others onto my mum to try out instead.

July Beauty & Lifestyle Favourites

Monday, 31 July 2017

July Beauty & Lifestyle Favourites
It's time for my July favourites and this month, I've included an extra lifestyle/gym product for good measure. Here's what I've been loving lately!

Activbod Turn Up The Heat Roller Gel* (50ml, £12, link)
I usually like to stick to all beauty products in my monthly favourites, but I've been so impressed with this product from Activbod that I just had to include it. I discovered it in a Fitty London box that I recently reviewed for All Subscription Boxes, and it's awesome! It's basically a roller ball gel that you apply to any aches and sprains after intense workouts and it contains ingredients such as Arnica, Rosemary, and Ginger to warm and soothe aching muscles. I do a lot of Pilates and Yoga so this really helps if I've overstretched something!

KiteNest Organic Dry Shampoo* (150g, £10, link)
I use a lot of dry shampoo in the warmer Summer months to freshen up my hair in between washes and to keep excess oil at bay, and this new one from British brand KiteNest is one of the best that I've tried in a long while. It's 100% natural, cruelty-free and organic, and it's also talc-free which is really interesting to see in a dry shampoo. Instead, it uses a blend of clays and natural powders to soak up any grease and dirt, and there are also some essential oils in the formula which makes my hair smell lovely and fresh. There are two types available; one for Light Hair tones and one for Dark (I've got the latter) and it really works a treat without leaving a white or ashy/grey cast. Definitely a brand to look into as they have some great eco-friendly ethics.

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Liquid Blush in Angel (15ml, £16.50, link)
A few weeks ago, I decided to 'shop my makeup stash' and in the process, I rediscovered a lot of favourite products that I'd been neglecting. One of them was this beautiful Watercolour Liquid Blush from Daniel Sandler. I've got a couple of these in various shades, but my favourite is definitely Angel, which is so pretty and suits practically all skin tones. It has a hint of shimmer in it so it's perfect for a little Summer glow on the cheeks.

Spectrum Collections Small Fan Brush A10* (£4.99, link)
From this month's Glossybox, I've been loving this super cute Fan Brush from Spectrum. Not only do I love the colours, but the synthetic bristles are wonderfully silky soft on the skin and it applies powder highlighter exactly where you want it, plus you can use it to apply setting powder underneath the eyes without it upsetting your concealer. I need to pick up some more of these Spectrum brushes ASAP!

Urban Veda Soothing Body Wash* (200ml, £8.99, link)
The scent of this body wash is just heavenly. It's packed full of natural essential oils such as Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang, and the SLS-free formula is really moisturising too. Fantastic for dry skin that needs a soothing pamper in the shower. Lovely stuff indeed.

Oribe Dry Texturising Spray (75ml, £20, link)
Yes, it's ridiculously overpriced (luckily I snagged this in an awesome GWP!), but I've still been unable to find anything that works equally as well for my flat-as-a-pancake fine hair, as this bad boy does. I use it very sparingly and thankfully I don't need much to guarantee a good hair day every time I use it.  If you haven't tried it yet, you need to. Just take my money Oribe!

What are your beauty favourites this month?

July Empties: Products I've Used Up

July Empties: Products I've Used Up
Can you believe that another month is coming to an end?! You know what that means - it's time to rummage through my rubbish and see what beauty products I've managed to use up this month. Here are my July Empties!

Bee Good Honey & Wild Flax Daily Moisturiser
My skin can be quite fussy with moisturisers in the Summer months, but this one is a winner for oily/combo types! It's perfect for balancing the oiler areas, whilst keeping the drier parts hydrated and there's Honey and Propolis in the formula which have great antibacterial properties for keeping blemishes at bay. I've gone through a couple of tubes of this over the past few years! Repurchase? I have some other moisturisers to finish up first, but will definitely pick this up again in the near future.

STARSKIN Walk of Fame Foot Mask Socks*
Loved these, have used them in the past and they are one of the best products of this kind out there. They really do help to sort out any dry bits and they'll leave your feet feeling wonderfully soft for days afterwards. Repurchase? They're pricey, so I'll be keeping an eye out for an offer or discount code first!

NUXE Splendieuse Anti-Dark Spot Perfecting Mask*
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my rather unflattering selfie wearing this last night in my Instagram Stories and it was the last one in my pack. I really like these ones for brightening up a dull complexion as they have Vitamin C in them so they're great before a special occasion or a night out. Repurchase? I have a bunch of sheet masks to use up from various brands before I can justify buying anymore, but once I've got a handle on my stash I will be treating myself to some more of these!

Masque Bar Eye Treat Dark Circle Reducer Minimizing Patches*
If you have dark circles and need help brightening them up, these eye masks from Masque Bar are fantastic. They're not a miracle worker but they do give me a noticeable difference whenever I use them and are perfect to use the next morning after a late night or before a special occasion. Repurchase? Like the sheet masks, I have a couple of eye masks to get through, but I'd definitely pick these up again.

July Empties: Products I've Used Up
Vita Liberata Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask
This travel size sample was from a recent GWP and although I've gone through a full size tube of this mask before, I'm still undecided about this product - how weird is that?! Sometimes I put it on and love it, other times I just think it's a bit 'meh' as the colour is very subtle. Repurchase? No, I think I'm just going to stick with the James Reed Sleep Mask Tan for the time being.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
I've lost count of how many tubes of this cleanser I've gone through over the years and I always, always have one or two in my skincare stash. It gets rid of every single trace of makeup so effortlessly (including waterproof mascara), and I really like using it as a first cleanse in the evenings to remove everything else like daily grime and sunscreen. Repurchase? Already have!

Caudalie Premier Cru The Elixir
Another sample freebie from a GWP, I actually have the full size bottle of this which I'm about halfway through, but I used this up first as it was in my travel bag. It's a beautiful half oil/half serum type of formula and is amazing for keeping the skin hydrated. Feels like such a treat whenever I use it! Repurchase? Will do after I've used up the full-size.

Urban Veda Purifying Hydrating Toner
This is a lovely summer skincare product for my oily/combo skin. It contains Ayurvedic Neem, Witch Hazel and Tea Tree Oil to rebalance and detoxify congested skin, but there's also Rose Water in the formula to put some essential moisture back in so you get the best of both worlds. If you have blemishes or breakout prone skin, you need to try this! Repurchase? Will do after I've used up some other toners first.

July Empties: Products I've Used Up
Hairy Jayne Pre Shampoo Treatment Oil*
If my scalp feels dry or itchy, I'll use something like this to re-balance and rehydrate it. This one from Hairy Jayne has an Olive and Argan Oil base, plus several key essential oils like Clary Sage and Lavender to make my scalp feel happy again. You only need to use a few drops per treatment, so this bottle has lasted me a long time! Repurchase? Yes.

Hairy Jayne Citrus Hair Perfume with Heat Protection
Another product that I love from Hairy Jayne are their all-natural hair perfumes as they also double up as a heat protector for blow-drying and straightening. I've tried all of their scents, but this Citrus one is my favourite and I think this is my second or third bottle that I've gone through. Again, a little goes a long way so they're great value for money and last ages. Repurchase? Yes.

Origins Maskimiser
Despite initially liking the concept behind this product (it's designed to be a hydrating spritz that you use before applying any face mask to 'maximise' its benefits), I didn't notice any differences from using it. It just feels like a regular hydrating toner which is nice, but it doesn't seem to enhance or 'maximise' anything in the short or long term. Repurchase? Nope!

Weleda Arnica Sports Shower Gel
Although I absolutely love Weleda's Creamy Body Washes, this shower gel is something that I like to go back to during the summer months because it's so lovely and refreshing to use. Great for using after a workout or just if it's been particularly hot and sticky that day. Repurchase? Yes.

Aveda Stress Fix Composition Oil
You guys all know how much I adore the Composition Oils from Aveda and their Stress Fix scent is one of my all-time favourite fragrances from a luxury pampering brand. Whenever I use this, I always feel instantly more relaxed and you can use these oils in the bath, all over the body and as a scalp and hair treatment too. It's a multitasking superstar! Repurchase? Definitely.
