Bank Holiday Treats | 4 Products To Try This Month from Suntribe, PMD, Upcircle & Wunder Workshop

4 Products To Try This Month from Suntribe, PMD, Upcircle & Wunder Workshop

If you're feeling spendy and fancy treating yourself over the long weekend, here are four products that I've been loving lately from Suntribe, PMD, Upcircle, and Wunder Workshop. Why not give one of them a try?

Suntribe Active Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 review
Suntribe Active Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50* (100ml, £19.99, link)
Sunscreen is an obvious skincare staple at this time of the year but if you've been struggling to find one that's 100% natural, Suntribe is here to help. The Swedish brand have recently released a brand new addition to their range; the Active Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 and this ticks a lot of boxes that I tend to look out for.

First up, it's 100% natural, cruelty-free, water resistant, and reef-safe, so it's a positive choice to opt for if you love swimming in the sea as much as I do. The certified broad-spectrum, mineral-based formula protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays meaning that you're fully protected, and it features an innovative combination of these mineral UV filters and Pongamia Glabra Seed Oil which helps to reduce the annoying 'white cast' that sunscreen can give off. To top it off, this sunscreen is packaged in a plastic-free 100% biobased sugar cane tube too - is there any box that it doesn't tick?!

PMD Clean Acne reviewPMD Clean Acne* (£209, link)
This next product is certainly an investment piece, however, I've been putting it to the test for nearly six weeks now and I can say it's definitely worth the money. If you have acne/and or blemish breakouts, the PMD Clean Acne is a must-try.

This smart facial cleansing device uses PMD's trademarked SonicGlow technology to deliver a really deep cleanse on one side (first photo with the silicone head), and on the reverse, you'll find its medical-grade Blue Light Therapy Spot Treatment side (as shown above), which helps to treat mild to moderate cases of acne and blemishes. I'm a big fan of the PMD Clean range and feel this product really steps up the mark with such a clever 2-in-1 device that you can add to your daily skincare routine. It's super easy to use and comes with everything that you need (a USB charger, goggles to wear when using the Blue Light side, and a handy travel case).

Upcircle Face MaskUpcircle Face Mask* (60ml, £20.99, link)
Face masks are a great way to give your skin some TLC, especially during a long Bank Holiday weekend and I've been particularly enjoying using this one from Upcircle. This is a truly lovely brand to look into if you haven't heard of them before as everything that they produce is cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, and sustainable. They use key ingredients that are by-products from the food industry that would normally go to waste which is brilliant to see, plus I love the luxe glass jar packaging.

It's not surprising then to hear that this Face Mask has won a number of awards in the revered green beauty world and was also a finalist in the prestigious Vogue Beauty Awards back in 2020. With a Kaolin Clay base and natural ingredients such as Olive Powder (made by finely grinding discarded olive stones that are a product of the olive oil industry), this is a fantastic detoxifying treatment for all skin types, but is especially useful for oily and combination complexions which are prone to breakouts.

Wunder Workshop Organic Golden Tumeric TeaWunder Workshop Organic Golden Tumeric Tea* (70g, £7.50, link)
Lastly, I have a new healthy tea favourite to share with you all from Wunder Workshop which does a fabulous line of ethically sourced well-being teas and health supplements, all of which are packaged so beautifully.

Their Organic Golden Turmeric Tea is a wonderfully restorative Ayurvedic loose-leaf blend featuring Turmeric, Ginger, Lemongrass, and Ceylon Cinnamon. Naturally caffeine-free, this refreshing herbal infusion has a delicious earthy sweetness to it which I find quite addictive and it makes for a lovely post-dinner cuppa.

Summer Skincare: Soul Tree Everyday Radiance Gift Set review

Soul Tree Everyday Radiance Gift Set review
Following on from my feature on the Ayurvedic natural skincare brand, Soul Tree (check out that post here if you missed it!), I'm delighted to explore more from the range with this exciting Everyday Radiance Gift Set. Perfect for summer!

Summer is a great time to take the opportunity to look after your skin more. Not only are we more conscious of ourselves during the warmer months with all of those holiday photos and selfies popping up on social media, but those sunnier days make us feel like the days are longer and we have more time to enjoy our skincare routines.

Soul Tree's Radiance Gift Set is an interesting one as it comprises of a mini Radiance Face Oil and a beautiful Kansa Facial Massager tool, all packed up in a reusable cotton drawstring pouch.

Kansa Facial Massager
If you're really into your anti-ageing skincare routines, a high-quality facial massager is an absolute must-have in your daily kit. Most of my massaging tools are either electrical or are Gu Sha orientated (made of either solid Rose Quartz or Jade stone) so I was intrigued to try out this Kansa Facial Massager

Crafted from solid cherrywood and engraved with the Soul Tree logo on one end, this massager features a large metal circular ball end which is made from a combination of tin and copper to encourage healthy blood flow/circulation, remove toxins and boost collagen production.

I found it incredibly easy to use; first I started with a clean face and applied a couple of drops of the Radiance Facial Oil (reviewed below), lightly patting it into the skin. I started by placing the massager in the middle of my forehead and moving it in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. Next, I used the massager from the jawline up to the ear in long sweeping motions and repeated this on the other side. It's also useful for helping to decrease puffiness and dark circles by drawing a figure of eight around the eyes with the massager.

The metal feels wonderfully cooling on the skin, and it's pretty quick and easy to do!

Radiance Face Oil
Created to a strictly 100% certified natural Ayurvedic formulation, the Radiance Face Oil utilises key ingredients such as Saffron and Turmeric, both known for their brightening, hydrating, and regenerating properties. These are infused in a skin-loving blend of Almond, Jojoba and Apricot Oils which help to increase the elasticity of the skin, whilst reducing pigmentation and keeping it healthy and supple.

I love this face oil as it sinks into the skin and delivers a noticeable brightening effect which is ideal for those who struggle with dull or lacklustre complexions. If you need a radiance boost, this is the kit for you.

Introducing: Soul Tree Ayurvedic Natural Makeup & Toiletries

Thursday, 28 April 2022

Soultree Ayurvedic Natural Makeup & Toiletries
Soul Tree is a natural brand that's been on my radar for quite some time as its products are inspired by ethical and ayurvedic formulas. Soul Tree is also big on using organic ingredients and is in fact, the very first Indian natural brand to carry European certifications for its ingredients.

I don't see many Indian brands that have caused such a buzz on the green beauty scene as Soul Tree have. From their super slick packaging to their wide range of products that are handmade using age-old traditional Ayurvedic methods, Soul Tree is definitely one that you can really enjoy exploring.

I've been testing out several of their products recently and wanted to introduce you to some of my new favourites.

Soultree Ayurvedic Natural Makeup & Toiletries
Dry skin? Try Soul Tree Hand & Foot Cream (100g, £14.03)
Rescue dry skin with Soul Tree's wonderful multi-purpose Hand & Foot Cream. Featuring active botanicals, this intensive care cream formula is packed with natural anti-oxidants and rich moisturising ingredients such as Kokum Butter and an organic triple blend of oils from Sesame, Coconut, and Apricot. I love the addition of Honey, Aloe, and Turmeric to help soften and smooth dry skin.

Pamper yourself with Soul Tree Indian Rose & Cooling Vetiver Shower Gel (250ml, £11.29)
Enjoy a luxury shower experience at home thanks to Soul Tree's Indian Rose & Cooling Vetiver Shower Gel. Not only does this look beautiful in your bathroom, but it has a delicate rose scent that I feel most people will love, even if rose isn't typically your favourite scent as this one is quite unusual. The SLS and soap-free formula is brilliant for sensitive skin that needs a gentle touch.

Soultree mascara and eyeliner kajal review
Sensitive eyes? Try Soul Tree Ayurvedic Mascara (6g, £16.99) and Pure Black Kajal (3g, £14.20)

Soul Tree has a great range of natural makeup that looks chic in your makeup bag and performs effortlessly well. Their Ayurvedic Mascara delivers a natural-looking, lightweight, and clump-free result on the lashes, with a nasties-free formula that also helps to strengthen and nourish them. It's absolutely perfect for everyday wear!

For some added drama in the evenings, pair it with the Pure Black Kajal; a true Indian kajal eyeliner that is made to a 3000-year-old Ayurvedic traditional recipe. The liner is richly pigmented and glides on so smoothly, with added moisturising properties for dry and sensitive eyes.

soultree lipstick and lip balm review
Treat yourself to Soul Tree Hibiscus & Honey Lip Balm (3.5g, £9.33) and Lipstick in Wild Honey (4g, £15.59)
My last two favourites come from Soul Tree's range of lipsticks and lip balms, both of which I highly recommend checking out. The Hibiscus & Honey Lip Balm is one of the best natural lip balms that I've ever tried. It's like smooth butter on the lips and completely eradicates any dryness. I also find that I'm not constantly reapplying it as a soft layer stays on the lips for longer.

I love the Lipstick in Wild Honey which has a similar list of ingredients to the lip balm, yet has a beautiful modern matte finish. The pigmentation truly blew me away as well! Most natural lippies struggle with this, but Soul Tree has really nailed it to perform just like a regular mainstream lipstick, but without the nasties.

New In Beauty: Beauty Cleanse Nearly Everything Powder Mask, Samaya Rejuvenating Eye Cream Kapha & Antipodes Glow Ritual Vitamin C Serum review

Wednesday, 6 October 2021

Time for shiny newness in the green beauty world with these amazing new kids on the block from Beauty Cleanse, Samaya and Antipodes. Let's go!

The New Multi-Tasker: Beauty Cleanse Nearly Everything Powder Mask* (45g, £27, link)

Designed to declutter and simplify your skincare routine, Beauty Cleanse's new Nearly Everything Powder Mask is a true multi-tasking genius that will transform how you view your beauty products. As the name suggests, this is a 'do it all powder mask', which will help all skin types and concerns and is made from 100% natural ingredients such as Liquorice Root extract, Rice extract, Organic Aloe Vera extract, Vitamin C powder, Charcoal powder and Orange Turmeric extract.

As it's waterless (which is better for the environment and your wallet as you get twice as much product), you simply mix a teaspoon of powder with a 1/3 of a teaspoon of water to create a smooth paste that you apply directly to clean skin. Leave for around 20 minutes and then rinse away with warm water. You can also use it as dedicated spot treatment, applying where it's needed, as well as a hand and foot mask too.

Thanks to the clever combination of ingredients, the Nearly Everything Powder Mask is brilliant for a deep cleanse to remove impurities and unclog pores, and it's amazing for giving the complexion a brightening and revitalised boost. A winner all round!

The New Luxury Eye Cream: Samaya Rejuvenating Eye Cream Kapha* (15ml, £59, link)

Fans of luxury ayurvedic skincare are going to fall in love with the new range of eye creams from Samaya. When I originally tried out Samaya a few years ago, I thought it would be a good idea for them to bring out an eye cream to compliment their cleansers and moisturisers, so it's fantastic to finally see this come to life and the wait has definitely been worth it!

Mixing together clinically proven plant-actives such as Probiotics, Caffeine and Green Tea, with specially selected potent Ayurvedic botanicals like Ashwagandha, Sandalwood, Vetivert and Gotu Kola, Samaya have created eye creams for each dosha type and I've been trialling the Kapha one with excellent results. Since using it over a month ago, my undereyes feel much smoother and my eyes look brighther overall. I'm also intrigued by the anti-pollution and photo-protection properties against different light forms such as UV and blue light to see what the long term results will be like.

The New Vitamin C Serum: Antipodes Glow Ritual Vitamin C Serum* (30ml, £35, link)

The last product that I wanted to mention in this New In Beauty round-up is the latest release by New Zealand brand Antipodes, who you all know I'm incredibly fond of and have used a lot of over the years. Again, I was very excited to see this newbie come onto the market as Antipodes are famed for their serums and I've always felt like they've been missing a Vitamin C based one - lo and behold, the Glow Ritual Vitamin C Serum has been born!

Suitable for vegans, this serum is described as 'golden hour in a bottle' and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and dull ones. The key superstar ingredient in this is called Kakadu Plum which contains 100x more Vitamin C than oranges. It's also rich in Bakuchiol and plant-based Hyaluronic Acid to plump skin, boost collagen and protect against free radicals that cause premature ageing. The brightening effects can be seen within less than four weeks of regular daily use, so get a head start on your glowing Christmas selfies and add this to your skincare routine now.

Soul Tree Kajal in Pure Black (RRP £14.20)

Made from an Ayurvedic traditional recipe that uses a 3000-year-old process, Soul Tree's Kajal's have a smooth and creamy texture which makes them glide on effortlessly without any dragging or pulling. Cruelty-free and free from a long list of 'nasties', this kajal instead uses natural pigments and ingredients such as Ghee, Camphor, and Organic Almond Oil to deliver a true alternative eyeliner. Amazing! Be sure to follow my Instagram Stories for a quick tutorial on how I use this.

Gallinée Probiotic Eye Contour Cream (RRP £22)

One of the original French natural beauty brands that were at the forefront of probiotic skincare, Gallinée's bestselling Eye Contour Cream has been specially formulated for the most sensitive and reactive eyes. It smoothes, protects, and soothes the delicate eye area and is just what I need after my recent laser eye surgery!

Bloomtown Lemongrass & Peppermint Deodorant Bar (RRP £10)

I featured this recently in my Summer Beauty Favourites so I'm thrilled to see it in this month's LoveLula beauty box as so many of you were asking about it on Instagram! This is one my favourite natural deodorants and has a bicarbonate-free formula that makes it suitable for sensitive pits.

Skin Alchemists Equilibrium Artisan Soap Bar (RRP £10)

Celebrate Plastic Free July with this gorgeous luxury Soap Bar from Skin Alchemists. I've tried one of their soaps before and I loved it so it's great to have another one back in my bathroom. The Equilibrium Bar has a beautifully fragrant blend of Lavender, Lime, Vetiver and Cedarwood and a lovely moisturising formula to keep hands nice and soft.

Ayurvedic Haircare: Saach Organics - 100% Natural, Organic & Cruelty-Free Haircare Review

Wednesday, 21 April 2021

Combining elements of traditional Ayurvedic formulas with organic and cruelty-free ingredients, Saach Organics have succeeded in creating a full range of natural hair care which is sold globally and won multiple awards.

If you're curious about where the name comes from, 'saach' translates as 'truth' in Punjabi, which goes to the core of what the brand is all about by carefully choosing natural ingredients that are good for your skin, hair and the environment.

Saach Organics products are 100% natural, using organically grown or wildcrafted plants and herbs grown in India. Saach Organics products never contain – petrochemicals, harsh sulphates, parabens, urea, propylene glycol, animal ingredients, artificial colours or fragrance. In addition, all products contain no animal ingredients and none of the ingredients or products has ever been tested on animals.

With this in mind, I received a very exciting package from Saach Organics last month with lots of their haircare to try, so grab a cuppa and enjoy this review below.

Saach Organics Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower Gel range

Starting off with the basics first, I tested out the full range of Saach Organics Shampoos. If you're after a strengthening shampoo for weak or fine hair, the Shikakai, Basil and Peppermint Shampoo* (200ml, £11.95) works wonders thanks to a formula that's rich in Basil, Amla, Ritha, Peppermint Oil, Shikakai and Ceramides. For something more aimed at repairing and revitalising damaged hair, try the Tea Tree, Rosemary & Lemon Shampoo* (200ml, £12.95) which also doubles up as an anti-dandruff treatment. Coloured hair? You can use the specially formulated Henna Orange Oil Shampoo* (200ml, £11.95) to moisturise and protect coloured hair from fading. All three shampoos are SLS-free and feel wonderfully refreshing to use due to the Ayurvedic herbs so they're quite 'zingy' on the scalp!

I'll go on to mention Saach Organics' powdered hair treatments in a minute, but for those who prefer a more conventional hair conditioner, you can't wrong with the Avocado, Jojoba Butter & Canola Oil Hair Nourishment Conditioner* (200ml, £11.95) which features a unique blend of Ayurvedic herbs and natural hydrating ingredients to nourish hair from root to tip. It's ideal for all hair types to use.

I also want to give a shout out to the Saach Organics Mint & Rosemary Shower Gel* (200ml, £10.95) because this is one of the most invigorating shower gels I've ever used. If you struggle to wake up in the morning, you need this in your life!

Saach Organics Hair Treatments / Hair Masks

Saach Organics have a special range of Hair Treatments that I feel really give you a proper feeling for their Ayurvedic roots. Each mask offers a different targeted treatment for your hair, for example, the Shikakai Hair Mask* is a nourishing treatment for roots to help stimulate healthy hair growth, whereas the Amla Hair Mask* provides a strengthening and hydrating treatment for weak and dehydrated hair. Coloured hair will enjoy the renewing and protecting qualities of the Neem Hair Mask*, and anyone who suffers from dandruff or hair loss should try the Ayurvedic Hair Mask* to reap the benefits of those carefully chosen herbs and plant actives.

Each hair mask comes in a pure powder format and the full pack (100g) will treat shoulder-length hair. As with any new beauty treatment, you should always perform a patch test 48 hours prior to using it to check for any allergies or skin sensitivities. Ayurvedic herbs are quite potent so I feel that a patch test really should be done as a necessity just in case.

To use these masks, simply open the packet and pour the powder into a non-metallic bowl. Gradually add in some lukewarm water and mix with a wooden spoon until you get the consistency of yoghurt. Try not to breathe in the powder as you're mixing as it can make you sneeze!

Apply the paste all over dry hair and scalp and massage it in. I recommend having a towel around your shoulders and placing one on the floor as the mask paste can stain. Once applied, cover your head in clingfilm and leave for 30-40 minutes. After that, rinse out and shampoo as normal - you may need to do this at least twice to get everything out.

Although messy and time consuming to use, these masks are brilliant for treating their targeted problems and each one left my hair feeling super soft afterwards. Prices from £8.95 per mask.

Saach Organics Natural Hair Colour

Last but not least, Saach Organics are well known and loved for their Natural Hair Colour* (£11.95). Like the masks, these are presented as a purely plant-based powder formula based on Henna and the range contains colours from Golden Blonde to Browns, Burgundy and Black. I've been using these hair colours for years as my go-to henna product of choice so do check out my original review of them here if you're looking for a new product like this to try for yourself.

Health & Lifestyle: ZOJO Beauty Elixirs Golden Adapto Latte - Turmeric Beauty Drink review

Tuesday, 30 March 2021

Turmeric lattes have been trendy for a while now, but if you're short on time or don't want to make your own, ZOJO have a luxury ready-made version just for you!

I first discovered Turmeric Lattes a few years ago when I was reading up on Ayurveda. This popular health drink has been widely used for centuries across Asia and is more commonly known as 'golden milk'. Traditional recipes mix a little turmeric powder with steamed cow's milk, along with other specially chosen spices and natural sweeteners for an instantly comforting and nourishing drink.

Nowadays, you're likely to see Turmeric Latte or Golden Milk popping up on the menus of artisanal coffee houses as a caffeine-free alternative, and the option to veganize it by using non-dairy milk is quickly overtaking its mainstream counterpart.

You can make your own Turmeric Latte at home (check out my recipe which is adapted from Jasmine Hemsley's East By West cookbook here), however, for those who are looking for a convenient ready-made version, look no further.

ZOYO Beauty Elixirs have created the Golden Adapto Latte, a Tumeric Beauty Drink full of healthy benefits for the skin and body.

What's it made of?
This award-winning drink is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and free from gluten, lactose, preservatives and artificial sweeteners. The base is Organic Coconut Milk Powder, with Organic Turmeric, Organic Ceylon Cinnamon and Organic Black Pepper. There's also Organic Tapioca for a little added thickness and Organic Gum Acacia which acts as a natural stabilizer.

What are the health benefits?
Turmeric is world-famous for its natural anti-inflammatory properties and it's packed full of antioxidants to help fight free radicals. It's an amazing ingredient to support a healthy gut and liver function which offers better fat digestion too. The Black Pepper component allows the body to absorb the active Curcumin in the Turmeric so that you can reap all of these benefits in a bio-available format.

How To Use
Add a flat tablespoon (5g) to hot water and stir well. You can use a frother to whizz up more of a latte texture and add a little natural sweetener if desired.

Overall thoughts
Although this ready-made ZOJO Beauty Elixirs version is an expensive luxury, for those with the cash to splash, it's an ultra-convenient way to keep this healthy drink on hand in your cupboard and it takes seconds to make. The result was a little more watery than I perhaps had anticipated, so you may want to add a dash of non-dairy milk if you prefer your Turmeric Lattes to be more indulgent and 'creamy' in flavour. No amount of sweetener will make you like the flavour of Turmeric though, so I can appreciate that this is a love/hate it kinda thing for many people!

Made from a fully biodegradable liquid formula that has an organic base and a blend of natural vegetable oils, Castille Soaps can be used to wash clothes, makeup brushes, your face, your body etc, and they're often a good option for those who have sensitive skin due to the small number of ingredients used. This handy travel-sized duo features two bestsellers from The Castillian Soap Company; their Fragrance-Free soap and the Lavender soap.

Ayumi Fairness Daily Intensive Facial Night Cream (RRP £8.99)
Skincare fans will enjoy adding Ayumi's Fairness Daily Intensive Facial Night Cream to their evening routines.
