Beauty Empties Round Up: Products I've Used Up

 

My oh my, how time flies! Another month has flown past so it's time for another Beauty Empties round-up. Here are all of the products that I've managed to use up recently and my thoughts on which ones I'll be repurchasing in the future.

Infuse My Colour Treat Conditioner* (reviewed here)

I've not been dyeing my hair much this year (or since Covid began to be honest!), but whenever I do, I like to keep a bottle of this Infuse My Colour Treat Conditioner in the bathroom. I've gone through several of these over the years and I just love the protection that it provides, without weighing down my fine hair. Repurchase? Will do the next time I colour my hair!

Good Bubble Bubble Bath in Cloudberry* (reviewed here)

For an affordable, family-favourite bubble bath option that's 98% natural and has a gentle formula for sensitive skin, you can't go wrong with Good Bubble. Their bubble baths are only a few quid and Cloudberry in particular has such a lovely sweet scent. Repurchase? Definitely.

Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Bath Essence* (reviewed here)

On the opposite side of the bathing price spectrum and for those times when you just want to really pamper yourself and indulge in a beautiful, hot bath for two hours, Dr. Hauschka comes highly recommended. This bath milk is seriously rich and creamy; you won't need to use a moisturiser afterwards as it leaves your skin feeling like silk and smelling of fresh roses. Pure heaven. Repurchase? On my wishlist for when I see it on offer!

Green People Age Defy+ Pure Luxe Body Oil

Another luxury favourite, this time from Green People's founder, Cha Vohtz's range, the Age Defy+ Pure Luxe Body Oil really is pure luxury in a bottle. Super nourishing, it softens and smoothes, leaving a delicate, fresh Neroli-based natural fragrance on the body. Repurchase? It might already be on my Christmas wants list...

Skin + Me Daily Doser*

Moving onto some skincare, I've enjoyed using the prescribed Skin + Me Daily Doser for the past three months, and the plastic-free recyclable aluminium twist-up tubes are brilliant. My custom formula had lots of beneficial ingredients such as Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid in it and when I was sticking to using it regularly, I did see an improvement in some of my problem areas such as getting rid of stubborn blackheads. Repurchase? Although it's a great formula, I do love trying new things and I have to admit that I got a little bored of this, but I'm sure I'll come back to it in the near future again.

Aurelia Refine & Polish Miracle Balm (travel size)

For dull and congested skin, this exfoliator from Aurelia is fantastic stuff, especially when used as a quick five-minute treatment once a week. It smells very similar to Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish as it also has Eucalyptus in it, but it feels more luxurious for a lovely pampering treat. Repurchase? Tempted to pop this on my Christmas list as well...

Terre Verdi Yoga & Sports Body Oil* (travel size - reviewed here)

I seem to have accumulated a few of these mini bottles from various beauty boxes and GWPs, but I'm certainly not complaining as this Body Oil is so pleasant to use and works a treat after a hot yoga session. Great for soothing tired muscles. Repurchase? I'm pretty stocked up at the mo!

Gallinée Eye Contour Cream* 

Gallinée's skincare is quite underrated in my opinion and I urge you to check out this natural French brand if you want to add some prebiotics and probiotics into your skincare routine. I've been using this tube of Eye Contour Cream for months and it's a lovely lightweight moisturiser that sinks straight in so you can apply your concealer on top right away - perfect for those busy mornings. Repurchase? I've gone back to my beloved Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream as I always need something a bit richer for the winter months, but it's another product I'd happily buy again in the future.

This Works Stress Check Roll-On (travel size)

You guys know how much I love my aromatherapy products and of course, This Works has an amazing Sleep and Stress range. Their Roll-ons are perfect for popping into your handbag or having next to your laptop for those times when you need a moment of calm. Simply apply to your pulse points, breathe in and relax. Repurchase? Yes.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner (travel size)

A long-time favourite of mine for nearly 10 years, Eyeko's Skinny Liquid Eyeliner is a must-have for anyone who wants an eyeliner that stays put all day (and night) without fading or smudging. Highly recommended. Repurchase? Definitely.

July Empties: Products I've Used Up

It's time for another mammoth Empties post as I continue to declutter my beauty stash! There are a lot of products here that I'm sad to see go, so let's jump right in.

Balance Me Balancing Face Moisturiser

I've been meaning to use up some of my travel sizes and I believe I received both of these in beauty subscription boxes. Really enjoyed using this light and balancing face moisturiser which is perfect for combination skin types. A great one to choose for the summer months! Repurchase? Yes.

Antipodes Joyful Hand & Body Lotion* (reviewed here)

Regular readers know how much I adore this so it's no surprise to see it pop up here again. It smells incredible and is such a lovely summery and uplifting floral fragrance. The formula is obviously great too as it's light but very hydrating. Repurchase? Yes.

Fruu Avocado Lip Balm* (reviewed here)

I've used these Fruu Lip Balms before and the Avocado one is probably my favourite. Super moisturising and it's made with only organic, plant-based, sustainable ingredients. Repurchase? Definitely.

REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

Another travel size from a beauty box, I'm a big fan of REN's Evercalm range for sensitive skin and their Anti-Redness Serum is something I like to have on hand for when my skin is being difficult and flaring up. Works a treat! Repurchase? Yes.

Typology Jasmin Néroli Eau de Parfum* (reviewed here)

Typically, I fell in love with this French perfume last year and it's since been discontinued - what a shame! Repurchase? Sadly not.

Puristry Yerba Mate Eye Cream* (featured here)

This was one of the many eye creams that I had the pleasure of testing out as a judge for the Cert Clean Beauty Awards last year, and whilst I really liked the product, the short pump packaging made it very tricky to get the product out so it became difficult to use half-way through and I ended up decanting most it to a different jar. Repurchase? No, simply because of the packaging.

Tropic Whipped Body Velvet* 

If you're looking for a luxury body moisturiser with a buttery, whipped texture, this should be at the top of your shopping list. A real pleasure to use and great for a pampering treat if you have dry skin. Repurchase? Yes.

Typology Organic Peppermint Hydrolate* (reviewed here)

I have to admit that I hadn't used this in a while and only reached for it during the heatwave as it's so wonderfully cooling and refreshing! Definitely works best in hot weather as soothing and refining toner. Repurchase? I've gone back to Dafna's for now but would consider this again in the future.

Handmade Naturals Face Cleansing Lotion* (reviewed here)

I believe this is the second bottle that I've gone through and I love how gentle and nourishing this cleanser is. If you have sensitive or dry skin, it's certainly one to try and doubles up as a great makeup remover too. Repurchase? Yes.

B. Pure Micellar Water* (reviewed here)

My go-to micellar water for perhaps five or six years, it's been one of those amazingly affordable high street beauty gems for such a long time. Sadly, it looks like the B. range is being discontinued so if you love this product as much as I do, now's the time to stock up! Repurchase? I will for as long as I can!

Weleda Citrus Deodorant* 

Last month. you'll have spotted the Wild Rose deodorant in my Empties, and this month, I've finished off the Citrus version. I tend to alternate these two quite a lot and would recommend them for anyone who is working from home and wants a nice, light body spray to freshen up with. Repurchase? Yes.

Gallinée Hair & Scalp Care Mask* (reviewed here)

Another longtime favourite, I always have a tube of this in my bathroom and use it perhaps just once a month to keep my scalp healthy and happy, so it lasts quite a long time for me. Perfect for dandruff control and flaky, itchy scalps. Repurchase? Definitely.

Friction Free Shave Cream* (reviewed here)

Finally, my last empty product is unsurprisingly a shaving cream, and this is one of the best for sensitive skin that I've tried out. I get very little, if any, irritation whenever I use this which makes it a firm summertime staple! Repurchase? Yes.

Bloomtown Lemongrass & Peppermint Deodorant Bar (RRP £10)

I featured this recently in my Summer Beauty Favourites so I'm thrilled to see it in this month's LoveLula beauty box as so many of you were asking about it on Instagram! This is one my favourite natural deodorants and has a bicarbonate-free formula that makes it suitable for sensitive pits.

Skin Alchemists Equilibrium Artisan Soap Bar (RRP £10)

Celebrate Plastic Free July with this gorgeous luxury Soap Bar from Skin Alchemists. I've tried one of their soaps before and I loved it so it's great to have another one back in my bathroom. The Equilibrium Bar has a beautifully fragrant blend of Lavender, Lime, Vetiver and Cedarwood and a lovely moisturising formula to keep hands nice and soft.

Use it to calm down any form of skin irritation including eczema and psoriasis flareups, as well as taking the sting and redness out of pesky insect bites. New mums can apply it on their baby's bottoms to soothe nappy rash, and makeup fans will love it as a smoothing face primer and oil-free moisturiser. Formulated by the French brand Gallinée who are famous for their pre and probiotic infused skincare, their Face Vinegar has been specially developed to help support your microbiome by purifying, soothing and repairing the skin's natural barrier. 

It contains Actibiome, a novel prebiotic that instantly calms stressed skin and a host of postbiotics which work together to boost the beneficial bacteria that live on your complexion. So where's the vinegar? October Empties: Products I've Used Up

My little wicker basket is full once again just in time for this month's Empties post, so here's another rundown of the products that I've finished up recently. Which ones will I be repurchasing in the future? Keep on reading to find out!

Gallineé Body Milk* (reviewed here)

This is a lovely body moisturiser with a light and easily absorbed texture so it's been great to use throughout Summer. I love the fresh and clean scent that it has and I think this is the third bottle that I've gone through so you know it's good! Repurchase? I'll buy it again next Summer as I need something much more heavy-duty for my dry skin in Winter.

Bodhi & Birch Tomato Seed Cleansing Oil* (reviewed here)

From Bodhi & Birch's excellent Superfood skincare range, I enjoyed using this luxury cleansing oil as a first cleanse to remove makeup and daily grime and it smells absolutely delicious like a Bakewell tart! However, I prefer the overall texture and performance of the Avo Bao Cleansing Balm from this range more, so I wouldn't personally buy this one again. Repurchase? No.

Tropic Good Skin Day Resurfacing Serum* (reviewed here)

If you're looking for a natural AHA based exfoliating treatment, you must try this and I believe it's my second or even third bottle that I've used up. I have the old packaging as it's since been renamed the Fruit Peel Serum but I believe the formula is still the same. Brilliant for brightening dull complexions and smoothing uneven skin texture. Repurchase? If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have seen that I've recently been sent two brand new serums to try out from Tropic, so I'm going to see what they're like first!

Antipodes Manuka Honey Skin-Brightening Eye Cream* (reviewed here)

Another skincare product that I've used many, many times in the past is this gorgeous Eye Cream from Antipodes. Perfect for dry under eyes like mine, it hydrates and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles, so it sits well underneath concealer. Plus, the pot lasts for ages too. Repurchase? I've gone back to the Dafna's Eye Care for the time being, but I would pick this up again.

Pai Gentle Hydrating Cleanser (reviewed here)

Whenever my skin throws a wobbly, I often come back to this ultra-gentle cream cleanser from Pai to help calm everything down. It always works a treat and usually restores my skin to its normal self within a week or so. This is another product that I've used countless tubes of and it's something that I'll always have in my skincare stash - I highly recommend it for sensitive skin types. Repurchase? Already have!

Yves Rocher Coconut Eau de Toilette

This travel-size bottle was an impulse purchase on holiday as I'd forgotten to pack a perfume with me. As the name suggests, it's a straight-up coconut scent which isn't too cloying like some others can be, but I found that it didn't last long before I needed to re-apply sadly. Repurchase? No.

Grace & Stella Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder Teeth Whitening Formula*

I was sent this from Amazon to try out and I have a real love/hate relationship with it! I love the fact that it's a natural teeth whitening alternative and it does help to remove stains and brighten up your teeth with regular use (it won't give you crazy white teeth as you can only achieve that through bleaching or by getting veneers, but I did notice a difference whilst I was using it). But I hated the mess as it's a loose powder and it gets everywhere. Repurchase? No, I'm using a different one from Laviish at the moment which I prefer as it's a solid formula.

P.S - Recycle your beauty empties with Terracycle! 

Most of these plastic and glass containers can be recycled through my local council service (blue bin in my area), however, things like the pumps have metal springs in them which are not accepted as they require a different method in order to be recycled. Luckily, Garnier have teamed up with Terracycle to recycle beauty and personal care waste which is deemed difficult to recycle. It's free, all brands are accepted and there are drop off locations all over the UK. Read more here.

Self Care Beauty: An After-Sun Pamper with Nature's Kitchen, Gallinée and Antipodes

It's been a glorious scorcher of a weekend here in the UK, but despite regularly slapping on the sunscreen, my skin (and hair) has started to feel really parched and dry. Not to worry though - these three products that I picked up from LoveLula are here to help for an after-sun pamper session!

Step 1: Remove All Of That Sunscreen

Sunscreen is designed to stay on your skin so that it can protect you from the sun's harmful rays. This means that it's important to make sure that you take a little extra time in the evening to properly remove all of your sunscreen, otherwise it can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Fun fact - a lot of people think that sunscreen itself is the leading cause of breakouts in Summer and whilst this can be true in some circumstances (e.g a sensitivity or reaction to a certain ingredient), most of the time, it's because it hasn't been properly removed.

To remedy this, I've been enjoying using Nature's Kitchen Oat Milk Cleanser & Makeup Remover* (100ml, £12.99, link), a natural budget-friendly, fragrance-free cleanser that effortlessly removes every single trace of sunscreen, as well as daily grime, pollution and makeup. Packed full of organic plant-based ingredients such as Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera, Avocado Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Oatmeal, Kale, Green Tea and Cucumber extracts, it's easy to apply and feels really gentle on the skin. 

Step 2: Don't Forget Your Hair And Scalp

My hair is naturally dry most of the time, but when I've been out in the sun, it can soon start to feel incredibly parched and straw-like. On top of that, I often find that the sun and any kind of heat can aggravate my sensitive scalp, so in addition to a hat, I like to use a dedicated hair mask at least once a week during the Summer months. My current go-to rescue treatment is Gallinée Hair And Scalp Care Mask* (150ml, £28, link) which is my first time trying out the French brand's haircare range. 

I've been a fan of their prebiotic infused skincare for a while now, and this specialised treatment also features a unique complex of beneficial prebiotics and probiotics to support the scalp's delicate microbiome. The mask is thick, rich and creamy, yet somehow 'melts' into the hair's fibres to restore and deeply nourish. 5 minutes is all you need for it to work its magic and afterwards, both my hair and scalp feel immediately soothed and softened.

Step 3: The After-Sun Face Mask

No pamper session would be complete without a face mask thrown in for good measure and I've recently found myself going back to an old tried and tested favourite of mine; Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask* (75ml, £26.99, link). I cannot sing the praises of this face mask enough; it hydrates, it soothes, it fights against blemishes and breakouts, and it always makes my skin feel and look rejuvenated again.

With its deliciously creamy texture and sweet natural scent, this mask's hero ingredient is Manuka Honey Active 20+ which is prized for its antibacterial and antifungal properties that helps to clear up the skin, and it acts a natural humectant that draws and holds in moisture for longer. I like to apply a thick layer all over for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse with warm water and a flannel for baby-soft, happy skin every time.

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - April 2019 review

I hope everyone had a good Easter! I've been catching up with a couple of my monthly beauty subscription boxes and wanted to share the contents of one of my faves from LoveLula.

Dr Botanicals Lemon Superfood All-in-One Rescue Butter (RRP £19)

With the Summer holidays coming up, multi-purpose products are brilliant for popping into your travel bag and this bright yellow tube of moisturising goodness from Dr Botanicals is a must-have! The Lemon Superfood All-in-One Rescue Butter is a super-thick balm that can be applied to lips, elbows, heels, face, body - anywhere that is feeling very dry and in need of some hydrating TLC. A little goes a long way so this tube will last a good while.

Alteya Organic Bulgarian Chamomile Water (RRP £7.95)

Packaged in an amber glass bottle, Alteya Organic's Bulgarian Chamomile Water is a beautiful product for the warmer months ahead and the perfect way to refresh and hydrate the skin. It helps to soothe, tone, revitalise and brighten your complexion with just a quick spritz and works well with Alteya's other skincare products, some of which I've reviewed in the past here.

Gallinée Body Milk (RRP £28)

Worth £28 on its own, LoveLula have included another full-size product in this month's box with Gallinée's Body Milk - a 94% natural body moisturiser that's infused with probiotics to keep skin smooth, soft and supple for longer. I've used this in the past and loved it so I'm very happy to have another bottle in my skincare collection.

Glossworks Nail Polish in Raspberry Parade (RRP £12)

The last main product is by Glossworks and this shade Raspberry Parade is from their brand new Spring collection. It boasts a 9-free formula which delivers a high shine glossy finish, and this juicy pink colour looks amazing on toes!

To round off the box, there are also two samples from Kimberly Sayer to try; the Gentle Face Cleanser and the Restore Anti-Ageing Cream.

Beauty Box: LoveLula Beauty Box - August 2018 review

Skincare fans are going to love this month's LoveLula box which features an award-winning selection of organic and natural skincare products that's worth £55!

 Madara AHA Peel Mask (full size, RRP £24)

One of the star products this month is a full-size Madara AHA Peel Mask which is worth £24 on its own! I've mentioned this mask a couple of times as travel sizes of it have appeared in previous LoveLula boxes, so it's great to have another tube for my skincare stash. This mask features active fruit acids which munch away at dull, dead skin cells, helping to reveal an instantly smoother and brighter complexion. I find it particularly useful for when my skin is feeling congested, clogged or simply not looking its best, and it gets to work in just 3-10 minutes so it's brilliant for when you need a quick fix. 

 Bowe Organics Lash Oil (full size, RRP £19.99)

I've only recently heard of the natural and organic British brand, Bowe Organics, and was pleased when I saw that they were newly stocked on LoveLula. Their Lash Oil is currently the first and only product that they sell, but it's an interesting one nonetheless. This specially formulated, plant oil-based blend helps to protect, thicken and lengthen your lashes, making them more resilient and beautiful overall. It's recommended as an add-on step for your evening skincare routine and it can also be used on your brows for thicker and fuller brows.

 Pure & Light Revitalising Facial Exfoliation (15ml travel size)

Earlier this year, I reviewed two products from Pure & Light (read my review here) and I've been meaning to try out more from them. This cute pink tube is a travel size of their Revitalising Facial Exfoliation which is like a dual-action cleansing cream that offers a subtle amount of daily exfoliation. It contains 32 active natural ingredients, and although I've only used it once so far, I can tell that it's something that I'm likely to purchase the full size of in the near future. It feels lovely and nourishing on the skin, and is ideal for those who are looking for a gentle, creamy exfoliator to use in the AM or PM.

Gallinée La Culture Hand Cream & Hydrating Face Cream (5ml travel sizes)

Gallinée are a fantastic French skincare brand who are famous for their natural formulas which feature prebiotics and probiotics. I've actually used both of these products in the past and loved them - the Hand Cream is amazing for dry skin (I featured it in a monthly favourites post here about two years ago), and their Hydrating Face Cream is a good option for dry and sensitive skin types.

October Empties: Products I've Used Up

After last month's gigantic Empties post, October's stash seems rather small in comparison! That said, I think it's still a pretty decent bunch, so let's get stuck in. Here's everything that I've managed to use up throughout the month, my overall thoughts and whether I'll be repurchasing them or not.

Neal's Yard Remedies Geranium & Orange Body Lotion

I finished this last night and decided to sneak it into this post, rather than saving it for next month - there's probably a tiny amount left when I cut open the tube, but I'd say it's 99% done! Geranium & Orange is one of my all-time favourite scents from Neal's Yard and I've used up a couple of these over the years. The lotion itself is very moisturising, non-greasy, and sinks in nicely, and that gorgeous scent lingers for a few hours after applying - heavenly! Repurchase? Yes. 

Our Tiny Bees Lip Balm

I repurchased this back in April earlier this year - you may remember it from my Minimalist Beauty Essentials post (here), so it's lasted me a good couple of months. I love the simple, all-natural formula as it's made from just three ingredients; Almond Oil, Beeswax and Honey, and it does a fantastic job of keeping chapped lips at bay. Repurchase? I want to finish some of my other lip balms off first, but I'll definitely buy this again at some point.

Antipodes Joyful Hand & Body Cream*

Oh my - the scent of Joyful is literally pampering heaven goals! It's upliftingly fresh, strongly floral, and I find it very comforting and relaxing. The cream is light but nourishing, and feels incredibly velvety on the skin. You can use it as a body or hand cream, and it works well both ways. A real 'me time / self-care' treat when you want to feel good about yourself. Repurchase? Yes.

Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Multi-Benefit Hair Masque* 

I have a lot of hair masks in my bathroom as my hair is notoriously fussy and dry, so it's taken me some time to get through this huge pot from Shea Moisture which I featured back in my January Beauty Favourites (here). It's one of my favourite budget beauty buys and I always reach for this when my hair is feeling particularly dry and frazzled. Works a charm! Repurchase? Already have!

Ihana Arctic Facial Toning Mist*

This hydrating toner was one of my favourite skincare products that I used throughout Summer (previously reviewed here), and I'm very sad to see it finished up! It's great for sensitive skin and really helps to calm down and soothe any irritation or redness. Repurchase? I have lots of other toners on the go at the moment, but I will definitely buy this again when I run out!

REN Vita Mineral Omega 3 Optimum Skin Oil*

I'm a big fan of REN's Vita Mineral range and this serum-meets-oil hybrid is a wonderfully nourishing boost for the skin, so much so that I think most skin types will get on well with it. It's high in Omega 3 to help support healthy skin renewal and it's a great product to try if you're starting to see the first signs of ageing. Repurchase? Yes. 

Melvita L'Or Bio Extraordinary Oil

This multi-purpose oil seems to be a favourite in GWPs and beauty boxes, as I've managed to use up a fair few of these mini bottles. You can use it on face, body and hair, and I tend to keep it on hand as a smoothing finishing oil to help de-frizz my dry hair, though it's lovely to use as a pampering body oil too. Repurchase? Still have one or two more samples left!

Gallinée La Culture Foaming Facial Cleanser

I first used up a bottle of this sometime last year, and decided to buy it again when I'd gotten through some of my other cleansers. I don't know why, but I just haven't been loving it this time around and I don't believe that they've changed the formula or anything like that. It seems to now make my skin feel a bit stripped and dry - weird! Repurchase? No.

Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk Body Moisturiser

Regular readers will know that I'm a massive fan of Bondi Sands and this Everday Gradual Tanning Milk is hands down the best gradual tan body moisturiser that I've ever tried. It's completely foolproof to use (applies just like a regular body moisturiser so no need to worry about streaks or anything like that) and develops into a gorgeous, natural looking light tan within 1-2 days. It's really good to use as a 'top up' for maintaining fake tan as well. Repurchase? Definitely!
