Bedtime Routine with Nourish London | Probiotic Multi-Mineral Repair Mask & Sleepy Pillow Mist review

These two additions to my bedtime beauty routine from Nourish London make an excellent team for getting a good night's sleep and gorgeous glowing skin come the morning. Now if only they could stop the alarm clock from going off so early...

Regular readers will know how much of a fan I am of Nourish, and guess what? These two featured products are actually a re-discovery of old favourities from the brand. For those who are new to these parts, Nourish is a particularly lovely natural and organic skincare brand based in London with vegan and cruelty-free accreditations.  There's a lot to love from this company so feel free to check out my previous reviews and feature on Nourish here. 

For now, though, let's take a closer look at two of their bestsellers that you can add to your bedtime beauty routine; the Probiotic Multi-Mineral Repair Mask and Sleepy Pillow Mist.

Nourish London Probiotic Multi-Mineral Repair Mask* (30ml, £26, link)

When I'm winding down for the evening and have some spare time on my hands, I love to indulge in a proper pampering skincare session. Think of a deep cleanse, a good facial massage, and of course, a luxury treatment to really get those relaxing spa-at-home vibes going. 

Nourish's Probiotic Multi-Mineral Repair Mask is a nutrient-rich, anti-aging face mask that delivers all the probiotic minerals that your skin needs to help repair itself and to support a healthy skin barrier against the elements. This award-winning treatment boasts ingredients such as Magnesium to calm down any inflammation and redness, whilst Zinc, Copper, and Iron helps to further repair and protect. Damask Rose and Lavender are also included to boost collagen, restore firmness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The inbuilt pump makes applying this mask super easy and I like to apply a generous layer all over, avoiding the eye area. This mask gets to work in just five minutes before it's rinsed off with a warm flannel and it doubles up as an intensive overnight treatment that you can leave on while you sleep if your skin requires more TLC.

 

Nourish London Sleepy Pillow Mist* (100ml, £20, link)

As a chronic insomniac, I'm a bit addicted to pillow sprays and always have to use one to help me to drift off to sleep. I've tried pretty much every one out there on the market and often come back to Nourish's Sleepy Pillow Mist as it's very effective. 

This is a beautiful aromatherapy blend of nine carefully chosen essential oils, all famed for their calming and soothing properties such as Frankincense, Sweet Orange, Patchouli, Rose, Geranium, and of course, the most famous sleepy essential oil of them all, Lavender. There's also the addition of Epsom Salts which are rich in Magnesium; great for reducing stress, all wrapped up in an alcohol-free mist.

To use, simply spritz a few times over your pillow and bedding before going to sleep and breathe in the relaxing scent to help you to unwind.

Health & Lifestyle: 5 Products To Help You Fall Asleep Faster #BestSleepEver

Following on from last month's sleep-focussed post (read here) where three wellness experts shared their top tips for getting a better night's sleep, I've decided to round up some of my go-to bedside products that I use when I'm struggling to count those elusive sheep.

Disclaimer: Please see a GP if you're having sleep problems - below are just the products that I have been using to help my own sleep issues, but they may not all work for you.

 Spritz On Bedlinen - Neal's Yard Remedies Goodnight Pillow Mist* (45ml, £15, link)

Pillow mists are something that used to be quite obscure many years ago but thankfully they are readily available these days thanks to growing consumer demand for natural sleep aids. I've tried a lot of different brands and one of my favourites that I frequently go back to when I'm having sleep problems is Neal's Yard Remedies Goodnight Pillow Mist. Packaged in their signature dark blue glass bottle, the mist is composed of a relaxing blend of Organic Lavender, Vetiver and Mandarin essential oils - all well known for their soothing properties. Simply spritz over pillows and bedlinen before you want to sleep and let the tranquil fragrance work its magic as you nod off.

Take A Bath - MOA Fortifying Green Bath Potion* (100ml, £25, link)

Taking a warm bath is often mentioned in many sleep hygiene routines, and I have personally always found baths to be wonderfully relaxing, especially if you've had a particularly busy or stressful day. Baths can significantly help you to unwind and they're great for relieving aches and pains such as sore muscles from exercise. Try MOA Fortifying Green Bath Potion which is a bath oil that I often recommend to anyone who isn't keen on the traditional lavender scents. Instead, this Bath Potion is more of a herbal blend with Peppermint, Fennel, Sweet Birch and Yarrow that's both invigorating (it helps to clear and refresh the mind) and calming at the same time thanks to the physical benefits that it brings to the body. It's also ideal to use when you're feeling run down as it clears up blocked sinuses a treat - just make sure to not use too much - it's strong stuff!

Treat Your Hands - Balm Balm Lavender Hand Balm* (60ml, £12.50, link)

Hands feeling dry due to frequent washing and using hand sanitiser all day? Give them some TLC with this ultra-rich Balm Balm Lavender Hand Balm. The perfect pot of hydrating goodness to keep on your bedside table, it has a seriously nourishing formula thanks to a blend of Shea Butter, Sunflower, Beeswax, Jojoba and Calendula oils. With added Lavender essential oil, it fits in neatly as an extra pampering step that you can do before bedtime to get you in the right frame of mind for sleep.

Try A Rollerball - Seascape Island Apothecary Soothe Oil* (8ml, £10, link)

Temple balms and oils are another handy product to have nearby when you're struggling to sleep and I sometimes re-apply them to my pulse points if I wake up in the middle of the night to help me to get back to sleep. Lots of different brands offer them and Seascape Island Apothecary Soothe Oil is definitely one to try if you want something that's instantly comforting and relaxing as it has Lavender, Bitter Orange and Mandarin Orange essential oils in a convenient rollerball. Swipe it on, breathe it in and relax.

Unwind With CBD - Naturopathica CBD+ Unwind* (30 capsules, £39.99, link)

CBD is fast becoming the go-to supplement for those who are feeling stressed and anxious, and I've written about my personal experiences with the positive benefits of taking CBD Oil in previous features on this blog. If you're not a fan of the taste of pure CBD Oil, there are lots of other ways to try it including teas, lozenges and more traditional capsules. The CBD+ Unwind capsules from wellness brand Naturopathica have been particularly useful to me, and I've been taking them for the past month to help with the heightened sense of anxiety I've been having due to the current pandemic situation. This range has been formulated to work with the body's endocannabinoid system so it contains 5mg of full-spectrum CBD to be the most effective, and the Unwind blend also includes B1, Magnesium, L-Theanine and Chamomile to further support healthy sleeping patterns.

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - June 2018 review

When it comes to beauty boxes, the LoveLula ones are always consistently good and June's box is no exception. Let's take a closer look at the contents, shall we?

 L'Odaites Gentle Polyphenol Exfoliator (full size, RRP £39)

The star of this month's box is a full-size jar of L'Odaites Gentle Polyphenol Exfoliator which is new to the LoveLula website. I've heard a lot of positive things about this natural Parisian skincare brand, so I couldn't wait to slap it on in the bathroom as soon as I saw it! Packed full of polyphenols which are derived from the pits of dates, this rich manual exfoliator also includes Sunflower Seed Oil, Aloe Vera, Honey and Olive Leaf extract, so it feels quite moisturising afterwards. It does a brilliant job of polishing away dead skin cells, and I'd be more happy to continue to use this once a week or fortnight as part of my skincare routine.

 Walden See The Moonlight Perfume Rollerball (10ml, RRP £17)

A new Walden perfume, how exciting! You guys know how much I love this range (check out my previous review here) because these fragrances are completely different to anything else that I have in my perfume collection. This newbie is called See The Moonlight and it features an interesting blend of fresh Bergamot top notes, sultry Jasmine, delicate hints of Rose, and a deep base of Sandalwood and Ambrette Seed. A lovely scent for Summer, the handbag-friendly rollerball is ideal for travelling with.  

 JOIK Refreshing Facial Toner (full size, RRP £10)

Another full-size product this month is JOIK's popular Refreshing Facial Toner which I've been meaning to try out. It's 100% natural, alcohol-free and contains Sea Buckthorn Oil to repair and condition the skin, Aloe Vera to soothe any irritation or inflammation, and refreshing Peppermint and Grapefruit Oils to wake up your complexion. I've really been enjoying using this in the mornings, though I might decant it into a spritzer bottle as it doesn't have a pump.

 REN Skincare & Now To Sleep Pillow Spray (10ml travel size, full size is £18 for 75ml)

Next up, I found a travel size bottle of REN's latest & Now To Sleep Pillow Spray which I've seen all over social media recently. This unique blend of essential oils helps to balance your natural sleep patterns by using Frankincense, Hops and Lavender to help you relax and drift off to the land of nod. Lavender is quite dominant in the mix and it has an overall earthy, natural scent to it, so if you like the sound of that, you'll probably love this!   

JOIK Sweet Orange & Mint Body Butter (sample)

Lastly, there's a small sample of JOIK Sweet Orange & Mint Body Butter which smells gorgeous. It's very fruity and refreshing, and I really like the rich texture too - very tempted to get a full-size of this at some point soon!

Luxury Home Style: Charlotte Rhys Home Fragrance Range review

Looking for some new scented treats for the home, that smell as good as they look? These luxury home fragrance products from Charlotte Rhys tick all the right boxes.

Living with two pet dogs means that my house can smell a little, well, doggy at times, so I'm a huge fan of scented candles and room sprays, to help keep things nice and fresh. I also like to keep a stash of what I call 'fancy' home fragrance products around, to bring out when guests come around. There's nothing like a quick spritz of a nice scent to create an instantly more welcoming atmosphere, and it can help to hide the fact that you might have missed dusting the top of the TV if people are too busy complimenting you on how good your home smells!

I've recently been introduced to Charlotte Rhys, a luxury bath, body and lifestyle brand from Cape Town. They're one of South Africa's leading homegrown luxury brands and they've now spread their wings to the UK. The brand are very much focused on sustainability and eco-friendly practices, and all of their products are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free and have biodegradable formulas. They kindly sent me a package of some of their best-selling home fragrance products to try out, including a scented candle, a room spray and a pillow/linens spray.

Charlotte Rhys Perfumed Candle in No.17* (£31, 200g, link)

Packaged in a high shine black glass with a silver lid, this candle looks beautifully chic and stylish wherever you place it in your home. There are a range of scents available and I received No.17, a fresh, woody and quite masculine fragrance, with top notes of Bergamot, Lemon, and Tarragon, heart notes of Lily of the Valley and Reseda, all nestled in a base of Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Vetiver, and Musk. The scent throw is excellent and within half an hour, my entire living room smells like an expensive hotel room.

Charlotte Rhys Atmosphere Room Spray in Under The Leaves* (£18, 50ml, link)

If you prefer to fragrance your home with a room spray, Charlotte's Atmosphere range is exquisitely packaged in glossy black glass bottles that look more like luxury colognes than your typical room sprays. They come in a variety of scents to suit different rooms and moods, and I have Under The Leaves which is a warm and uplifting fragrance featuring Orange, Tomato Leaves, Hyacinth, Lily of the Valley, Musk and Cedarwood. It's perfect for living and dining rooms - anywhere that you like to entertain guests.

Charlotte Rhys Pillow Spray in St. Tomas* (£17, 300ml, link) 

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when I opened up the Pillow Spray as it's packaged in a much cheaper feeling plastic bottle compared to the luxury glass housings of the above products, but the sheer size and quantity of fragrance that you receive certainly makes up for this. Like the other products, the Pillow Sprays are available in a range of fragrances, and St. Thomas is a wonderfully fresh and crisp scent with its unique blend of Mint, Birch Leaf, Grapefruit, Green Apple, Geranium, Lavender, Vetiver, and Patchouli. It's ideal to spritz onto bed sheets, sofa throws, linens and pillows, to instantly refresh and revitalize, whilst helping to scent the room at the same time.
