Why does makeup have to be so complicated? Very often shopping for make-up can be overwhelming. Trying to figure out what will work best with your skin type, tone and age is an ongoing challenge for most women. However, mineral makeup makes the choice easy. It’s not only ideal for your skin, many dermatologists encourage using mineral makeup because its kind to the skin and the ultimate outcome is sheer, natural beauty at any age.
So what makes mineral makeup your best choice for great looking skin? Here are 10 reasons to choose mineral over traditional makeup.
Review & Swatches: Nvey Eco Eyeshadow Duo in Mahogany Shroom, Nourishing Bronzer and Hydrating Lip Lustre in Amour Rose
Tuesday, 29 October 2013
Nvey Eco are a natural make-up brand which features Natrue certified organic ingredients in its products. They're from Australia, but are easily available via online retailers such as Naturisimo and CutECOsmetics. They're a brand I've seen countless times on green blogs and via Aussie Youtubers, so I was really excited when I was sent three of their products to have a play with. Here are my thoughts!

Despite the advance storm warnings, one can never truly predict how these things will play out, so I hope you're all reading this from somewhere safe and warm today. On a lighter note, I'm going to get cosy on my sofa and share my idea of a perfect night in. This is something I will be looking forward to a lot more now that the clocks have gone back and those dark, cold nights are drawing in.
Skincare Review: The Herbjar - 100% Natural Cleansing Oil, Face Cream, Exfoliating & Toning Face Mask and Body Butter
Saturday, 26 October 2013
I love to try out natural skincare, especially by small, lesser known companies. Recently, I was kindly sent some samples to trial by The Herbjar who adhere to very strict rules when it comes down to what's natural and what isn't, so I was interested to see what their products would be like. All of these are for Normal/Combination & Sensitive skin, so if that sounds like you, read on!

Last month I raved about the Naked Body Washes, and this month I've been trialling the new Naked Brunette Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner. There are lots of haircare lines specifically targeted at brunettes (as there are for blondes, redheads etc too!), and I've had success in the past with the DGJ Organics Glossy Brunettes range. So what do I think of Naked's offering to us brown haired lovelies?

Youngblood Ultimate Concealer* (2.8g, £22, link)
Youngblood are a natural mineral cosmetics company who have been on my radar for a while now. So when the opportunity arose to try something by them, I jumped at the chance. They have several products which are spoken highly of in the blogging and Youtube community, and one of those is the Ultimate Concealer.

I have seriously been slacking on the samples front! My Wonder Woman tin is full to bursting again so it's time to get it back under control. To kick things off, I've managed to finish these five off recently which have been stashed away in my travel bag. Here are my thoughts on them.

A friend of mine is having a Game Of Thrones themed party for her birthday next week, so I've been attempting to recreate some of the gorgeous plaited hairstyle looks from the show. Sadly my skills are definitely lacking in this area, but I've found an easy way to fake it in the form of this ready made plaited hairband.

Nails Inc nail polish in Pinkie Pink* (10ml, £11, link)
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I'm sure you've seen and heard a lot about it. Nails Inc are one of the many brands out in force who are supporting the cause and raising vital funds for the charity. They have released a special limited edition nail polish called Pinkie Pink which has been created in partnership with fashion designer Matthew Williamson and model/actress Poppy Delevinge.

Rain and cold winds are sweeping across England as I speak, so all I want to do is stay inside where it's nice and warm. I've been feeling a bit run down with the flu recently, so what better way to cheer myself up than with a little mid-week pampering. After this session, I'll be feeling back to my usual self in no time.

Not A Sponge* (£6ish)
A year ago I dabbled with a Clarisonic and it was by far the biggest skincare mistake I've ever made. Now I'm not saying that Clarisonics are bad for your skin or anything like that, far from it as I know several people who have achieved incredible looking skin from using one. But my experience with it wasn't pleasant and I've been on the hunt for something much more gentler to use instead. Most tech gadgets I came across were far too abrasive for me, so I reverted back to mother nature and discovered Not A Sponge.
Review & Swatches: Laura Mercier Dark Spell A/W 2013 Collection - Nail Lacquers in Bewitched & Forbidden and Baked Eye Colour in Magical
Sunday, 13 October 2013
I'm rarely attracted to nail polishes in new make-up collections simply because so many brands seem to just throw in a boring token shade and that's it. For the nail polish collectors amongst us, that's about as exciting as watching paint dry! So when I spotted that there were two new Limited Edition Nail Lacquers in Laura Mercier's A/W Dark Spell Collection which looked interesting, I knew I had to find out more.

Love Me Beauty Box* (£10 + p&p per month, link)
Do you know what I think is the most important aspect of a well done beauty box? Variety. And Love Me Beauty gets it right yet again. There's a bit of make-up, haircare, skincare and a lovely bath/showertime treat included in October's three menus. Let's take a closer look shall we?

It's been a little while since I picked up any magazine freebies, but this month sees some great beauty ones on the stands. I had a money off voucher for WHSmith so technically this was a double freebie for me (the best kind of course!), and I bought Red which has a choice of two This Works products. I went for the Really Rich Firming Body Lotion (generous 50ml size) having seen previous rave reviews of it on various blogs, and it's definitely worth picking up! Can't vouch for the firming claims just yet, but I love the scent (Jasmine and Figs = Amazing) and it's very hydrating so it's perfect for the upcoming winter months.
Also available with other magazines this month are samples of REN skincare, L'Occitane hand cream and St Tropez goodies! I may have to ask my mum if she has anymore WHSmith vouchers lurking in her purse...
Have you picked up any of these magazine freebies this month?
